“Good town location, but dated rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2011

We were a group of friends visiting Batam for a weekend getaway/shopping trip. As we were on a budget, we decided to stay with the "Plasa" at Nagoya Hill. The hotel was right by the biggest mall on the island (Nagoya), and was about 10 minutes by car from the ferry terminal. The beach however was about 45 minutes the other way, and there was not free shuttle to either the hotel or the beach.

Check-in was normal, but I wouldn't call it particularly speedy. We were allocated rooms on the 4th floor, from where we didn't get much of a view (we overlooked another building). The rooms looked really tired, with dated carpets, dirty-looking bedsheets, and decor from at least the 70s. While looking crisp and fresh on the surface, room cleanliness could be vastly improved. In particular, we found what looked like blood stains on the shower curtain, and detected cigarette smoke in one of our non-smoking rooms.

That said, we had everything that we needed - a hairdryer, a CRT TV, a sofa set, a cupboard, alarm clock, toothbrush sets, a telephone, airconditioning etc etc. There was no in-room safe however, which could otherwise have been handy. Breakfast (included in room rate) was plain and unremarkable, consisting of the likes of cereal.

This is a hotel useful for a functional stay at best, conveniently located by the shopping mall and a large food street. If you are looking for the sun and sea, or a comfortable holiday, you are probably better off looking some place else, closer to the higher end.

Stayed there based on the 6 reviews on TripAdvisor. While walking towards the room along the corridor, we could see bedsheets spread wide open on the floor for guests to stepped on. Some vacant rooms have their doors opened and we could see they are in a mess. Soiled bedsheets are thrown together at a staircase corner, I supposed waiting for collection. Our room is horrible. General cleanliness is there, but the bedsheet has marks on them. The tap isn't working well, and the hot water in the shower comes on and off. When the aircon's fan is turned higher, water droplets splashes out of the vents. Morning breakfast is something I would not recommend. I would rather walk a short distance and eat out. I will upload the photos of the room when there is time.

Batam is great for a short escapade. ideal for shopping and massage. Nagoya is one area you can shop and have a good massage at very affordable prices. My bf agrees its a good value for money .The spa is clean and spacious. . There is a spa called Isabella which i always head to . Very friendly staff. Free pick up from and to Batam Ferry terminal.

On 7th aug 08 My family visited Batam and we stayed a night at Nagoya Plaza Hotel .We were greeted by the friendly staffs and our 3 rooms were ready upon check in.
Rooms and toilets on the 3rd floor were clean and the aircon were all working well.
Some how, during the night time, can't really get a good sleep as you can hear the loud music coming from the bar, walls were quite thin.
for the price we paid , is quite reasonable for a 3 stars hotel.

We had stay there on May 08. The hotel, which is located near Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall, is a stone's thrown away.
Very convenient when you are an avid shopper.
The room there is quite clean. The housekeeping service
there is also quite good...............
One thing that I want to comment on , is the food there. It is quite saltish. We, Singaporean, do not really take salty food. Therefore, we are not so use to the food there.
