Visited this new restaurant with my buddies during a short golf cum business visit.
Nestled among other food offerings in a mall visited by both locals and tourists, this restaurant immediately stands out with its beautiful decor, simple, clean and functional, In line with the name, "Kami Simply Shabu".
The no smoking policy at the dining area is a welcome sight for families with young children. The staff are attentive and friendly, with smiles offered freely from the moment you step in. Also impressive is the cleanliness of the restaurant, which is not often seen in Batam, no foul smells, no stains, no litter!
We tried almost everything on the menu. The starters are appropriately sized. The potatoes, shirked, karage, deep fried shutakes, are well done with quality in every bite. The free flow ocha,is authentic brewed and not some instant premix. The main courses are the Kami Nabe..... The Ginadara "Cod" is fresh and succulent, the Sapi (beef) is flavourfully rich and yet succulent, the chicken comes with pieces of succulent meat and wonderful handmade chicken meat balls. Every detail is well taken care of and clearly much thought has been put in, even down to the condiments. The chilli is made Thai style like those found in Thai style steamboat restaurants, the sauce is balanced with the right level of spiciness, tang and zing.
The overall experience is definitely the best I had in a small japanese eatery. With prices that really surprised us to be way below the quality you get (we would be charged at least 5 times morein Singapore).
We were told that they are actually a spin off from another Japanese fine dining restaurant in the same island (which we couldn't resist visiting after our experience here). But that will be another review in TA.
