“Value For Money”
Reviewed June 15, 2012

Bought vouchers from deal.com.sg for a 1 night stay at KTM Resort on 10 June 12.

Accommodation
As there were 4 of us, we were given a family cottage with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living/dining area and surrounded at the 4 sides by a veranda. Originally allocated cottage 511, which is on higher ground but with half its seaview blocked by trees. We paid a fee to 'upgrade' to cottage 501, which is nearer to the reception/pool area and has unobstructed seaview. Noticed cottage 501 has air-freshener in its bedrooms and bathrooms and skirtings on the beds unlike 511. Not sure if it was housekeeing oversight or because we paid extra for these. There is a CRT TV in each room, though reception is not great. 2 pairs of slippers in each room at cottage 511 but missing in cottage 501 (probably another housekeeping oversight). The stove in the living area is not usable and the hot water kettle provided comes with a 2-pin plug but no 3-pin adapter provided in the cottage. Coffee/tea sachets and 4 cups provided.

Bathroom
Reasonably clean. 2 sets of toothbrush/paste in each bathroom. Shower gel/shampoo & soap. Towels reasonably clean. After a heavy rain on the morning of the 2nd day, I noticed many medium size red ants crawling all over the wash basin. It does not bother us much as the ants 'disappeared' after i started splashing water on them.

Beds
One of the bedrooms has a queen size bed and the other one comes with 2 single beds. I did not expect 5-star standard, but the beds are comfortable enough though I can see some very tiny red ants crawling on my side of the queen size bed and i was also bitten by some during the night.

Veranda
The back door opens to a veranda that faces the sea. While sitting at the bench here, we could see Singapore, Marina area's skyline clearly. I love the seaview from here. Make us feel like we're at a 5-star resort, very relaxing. The stairs from here also leads to a mini garden. We spotted a slightly less than 1 metre monitor lizard sauntering pass the drain beside our veranda after the heavy rain.

Food
The 'buffet' breakfast was nothing to shout about. Very basic but adequate (for the price we paid). The egg station has the freshest food as service staff cooks only upon request. The resort staff should do something about the houseflies though. As it was a Monday morning when we had our breakfast, the occupancy rate at the resort is low. I guess that was why they did not bother to light up the burner to keep the food warm. We had meals at the resort restaurant other than breaakfast. Quite tasty. Price not expensive at all though slightly more than what we paid for at the shopping mall.

Free shuttle service to & fro Nagoya Hill Mall provided with our package. The staff at the reception also volunteered to help me confirm my ferry booking back to Singapore the next morning when I was there to enquire about te check-out time.

Overall, we were quite satisfied with this deal & our stay at KTM Resort. Value for Money. Generally, the service staff are polite and go about their work with a smile.

Room Tip: Room 512 has unobstructed seaview too. Like 511, it is situated higher up the slope. In my opinion...

DO NOT come here expecting 5 star service or rooms. If so, you will be sorely disappointed.

KTM resort is a laid-back resort with nothing whatsoever in the area. If you do not want to take a taxi out of the resort, the only place for a meal is in their restaurant. Note that no swimming is allowed in the sea by the resort. If you really do need a swim, they have an outdoor pool for your needs. However, judging by the colour of the pool, do so at your own risk. Massage services are provided in cottages by the sea, which is really quite awesome for relaxing. Before you take on a massage package there, beware those fishermen boats some distances away from the massage area. One wonders how much can they see.

The room itself was nothing to shout about, they do have air-conditioning, standard toiletries and water for guests. Lighting in the room was rather dim in the night. If you are getting a room, come in pairs on a off-peak day (non-weekends/PH) and you will be given the sea-view cottages by the lagoon. These sea view cottages have a balcony with an awesome view of the sun rise and sunset. On weekends, the crowd at the ferry terminal, ferry and the resort itself can be rather off-putting and bad enough to spoil your trip.

The staff at this resort were pleasant enough. For the sea view cottages, 2 room share a balcony. On a off-peak day, the staff at the reception are nice enough to arrange the room such that each room has the whole balcony to themselves. Yet another reason to come on a off-peak day. The driver who picked me from the ferry terminal and shuttled us to and fro from Nagoya always had a smile ready for the guests. Language level was sufficient for us to understand.

Great place to chill out and just spend the day doing nothing.

bought a voucher from deal.com.sg and paid $55 per pax plus $27 (taxes). The kids only paid $19 which was a steal! Breakfast was simple but we loved the cottage! It was huge and it was value for $$.

Room Tip: ask for sea view and rooms not too far from the reception area or else its quite a walk!

I bought a Groupon for this holiday for a friends birthday. BIG mistake.

Our idea was to take a friend who likes fishing by the sea. We asked for a few prawns from the kitchen they made a big fuss and asked for substantial amount of money for the same.

Initially we had arranged for rooms that were near the lagoon, upon arrival, they told us we had to change to a better room, we asked them if we had a choice, they forced us to go to the room they assigned us, we realized later there was a goof up in the allocation and we had been allotted the room on hill, while we has initially booked the lagoon facing room, which definitely had the better view.

The food was very disappointing and so was the service. The only redeeming experience was the Spa on the pier. It had decent view, average service. Nothing extra-ordinary but because we had such a poor overall experience the average spa really stood out.

Room Tip: Stay near the lagoon, although there may be some mosquitos, these huts definitely have an advantage...

We bought a voucher for 2d1n from Deal.com.sg @ SGD55/pax (excl. fuel surcharge and tax of SGD27/pax), which is rather affordable.

We checked in rather early on 15th April @ about 11am (IND time).
The whole area was big, overall a thumbs up to the wonderful layout of the cottages and huts.
It was on a Sunday therefore, it was quiet and peaceful as it was almost empty.

No doubt, the room was small, for a beachfront cottage, but it was cosy enough for 2 pax.
It was all made from wood, so you could hear your neighbor's conversation, if by any bad chance, you have a neighbor.
(We were lucky enough to be the only check in for beachfront cottage, therefore, we could only hear the wonderful serenity of the beachwaves.)

The food was rather cheap and extremely delicious.
The waiter and waitresses are very well trianed and treats you like royalty.
For est. SGD45, we could get 2 drinks, 6 side dishes and 2 plates of rice.
The Oriental BBQ Beef was too good, it's a must try.
The ambience for the restaurant was nice and it was pretty large.

The staffs are all very approachable, helpful and friendly.
Despite we tried communicating in Bahasa Indonesia, they tried their best to converse in English. They tend to remember who are you, and always try to call you by name.

The swimming pool was a filtered sea water and it was clean when we get there.
(Many reviewed it was rundown and dirty, I have no idea why.)
It's opened 24 hours but we didn't get a dip cause we slept the whole time we were there.

Overall, it was a good experience stay for a 3 star resort.
The view was really worth the $$.

Room Tip: Beachfront cottage has a better sea view than other rooms.

Just returned from a weekend stay at ktm.
First of all, the cottages are small and dim but clean, basic amenities, hot shower and tv are avail, My cottage room was given at far end, so there was sewage smell in e toilet, lucky we brought insect repellent as a makeshift air freshener.
Too bad e evenin was raining else we could use e balcony (overlooking the sea) to chill out.
As for swimming pool, since no one swim in it, maybe the owner could do a upgrade or change into a fish spa to attract more visitors?
B'fast was better than expected though, a simple buffet style. Also went to e restaurant for lunch, service its not that slow but whats there to rush? We Had seafood crispy noodle, the ingredients are v.freshed!
There's free shuttle svc to nagoya hill mall and the staff all v.friendly.
Overall its a simple and yet relaxing break. This is the place for rest n relaxing, gettin close to nature, so DO NOT expect any kind of luxury or quick efficient service for the price u pay here. :)
