Friendly service. ooms are getting a bit tired and need modenizing. There are often events held besidethe pool which are very loud and can be heard clearly from the rooms. These usually end around 10pm.

The rooms and bathrooms are really old, same for the lobby. The hotel needs an upgrade. Tiny old type TV's. They took all my towels on the 2nd day and did not place new towels. This should not happend in a hotel of this class. Breakfast was good and the pool is nice. No lift in the hotel - will keep you fit to walk the stairs. Hotel bar is lousy - but I guess this is Surabaya ...
Staff was friendly. I would rather stay in a more modern hotel.

I do not know how are the standards rooms , the only thing I know is that the upgrading to apartment room was absolutely not satisfactory .
Poor , dirty and old furnitures make my stay very miserable .

At first checked in, me & my husband got room on tower building on the back side of the hotel (it has its own entrance & elevator), that was the only room they had, because there were conference went on that time.

my first impression of this room was so average, clean, it's like compact small apartment, has own kitchenette (which the electric stove missed one knob.. ) & separated bedroom from living room.

I didn't like the position of the room, because we can hear trains passing by very often.
so I asked the reception to find another room. we had to wait almost 1hour to have new room, because it was fully booked.

but, this friendly staff did a good job, at first he promised if around 7pm the guest who booked the room didn't come, we can have his room, then we got his room.

the room was still average, but we can sleep without the sound of trains..:).
towels were not as white as I expected, room was clean, but sadly the pillows were a bit smelly..

spa.. o.. spa..., if you want to have spa treatment, better have it on your own room (they have service for it, but could you imagine if you want scrub too? it would be so messy ..)

I had my treatment on this room which is next to staff room, I think... gosh,.. they were so noisy..., chatting laughing,etc.. I couldn't relax at all!, and the walk hall outside the room is so noisy too.... i also had to walk through (altough it's near) that walk hall (which men can also go through this hall... imagine.. I only wrap my body with batik sheet, ) to reach shower room..

food is not bad, perhaps because we were in conference's group? so the food is just like that ? :))

only a big supermarket (carrefour) is near by., with A&W along inside it.

overall, friendly staff...average hotel, but nice surrounding..

The hotel is not bad given its location. Rooms are large and pretty clean but old looking. Large pool and decent Fitness center. The staff is very friendly and eager to help. The buffet for breakfast and dinner was quite good and they will make things off the menu for you if you have special needs. I would stay here again.

There is nothing technically wrong with the Novotel. The hotel has all the right hardware -- nicely landscaped swimming pool, fitness centre, decent lobby, and decent room furnishings -- once upon a time, perhaps just after opening, it could have been an excellent choice, especially if you need to be in the southern part of the city. But today, it's just aging and fraying at the edges and core.
To start with the swimming pool water is cloudy and filthy -- visibility under water cannot be more than a meter and a half. I heard from the towel boys that the hotel has five filters, of which two are broken. Management clearly needs some customer feedback (which he encouraged me to give) to get them fixed. The tennis courts are free to use, but chipped, with holes in the fences, etc. Clearly not taken care of properly.
The room facilities are all there, but there's no guide to the hotel , no map to the sprawling property, and no listing of the facilities. There are a lot of TV channels, though. The amenities are mediocre.
And although the hotel is outside of the city centre -- with NOTHING around it-- it's close to the zoo and a couple of the off-centre shopping malls. The breakfast at the hotel is expensive and yet has minimal selection of foods. Another mediocre affair.
In sum, this hotel is worth it only if you can get a very low rate (think 50% of the city centre 4-and-5 star hotels) and don't have to stay for too long.

It is a moderate hotel and a bit far from town. The room is nice and spacious with balcony overlooking to the pool. The hotel itself is more like a resort but with only one restaurant. The fitness centre is well equipped with sauna facilities but look very old.
The massage is good and costs around 170k for an hour but the massage room is old and certainly need some furnishing. The good thing is that the hotel won't force its customer to use the limousine but assist to call the meter cab for you.
