The hotel is really really old, it is claimed that a prince spent a couple of nights here, somewhere in the 70's and that was the last time they gave maintenance to the rooms. It really needs to be renovated, the pool is ok, breakfast was also ok, the staff is friendly but highly inefficient, we arrived at 5 pm with a previous reservation, we (and some more guest) were not expected and the rooms were not ready until one hour after our arrival. Their gardens and very well cared

We've stayed 1 night at Deluxe, which is their standard room. The room was big,not minimalis, since its an old hotel. The bathroom really needs renovations, very old furnishing n the flush didn't work well.
They have children pool n adult pool,my daughter have a good time in it.
The meals are so-so.The staffs are friendly.
The location is in the middle of the city, you can go anywhere using becak :)
This hotel good for a stopover or 1 night stay.

In a five star hotel with cheapest room for 700K/night one may expect near perfection. The hotel is good, room and bathroom were OK and clean, however there's no atmosphere. Only a few bored bussiness-clients, terrible live music in the bar. Breakfast buffet was more than impressive, hot and cold, eastern and european to choose from. Dinner good but not spectacular. Wifi in the lounge only, live gamelan music at night. Free shuttle to pick you up from the train. Staff not very interested, speaks friendly when spoken to.

Hotel was tired with old furniture and features in the room. Still using the old type of control panel switch by the bedside and old TV. Cleanliness was average but they can do lots better. Lobby was nice with Javanese style and architecture and live Gamelan played in the evening. Swimming pool was good but nothing to shout out. The bar was empty with bored music playing and the selection of drink is very limited. Maybe due to not so much demand on it.
Breakfast was way too simple as they can do lots more better, the selection of food was limited not so much international selection.
They really need serious renovation and revamp the whole hotel as the hotel is totally too tired and too old.
The positive part is the service was good even not everyone speak good English but they tried their level best to accommodate.

Room Tip: Get room at lower floor which the balcony is right in front of the pool

In theory, the Kusuma Sahid has a lot going for it; nice Javanese architecture, large rooms, and a decent sized pool.

However, the sheer lack of maintenance is just shocking. Of the three toilets I had to use in the building, only one of them could actually flush. (On the plus side, I developed an excellent understanding of the inner workings of a cistern; I'm considering becoming a plumber).

While I had expected to have a room to myself, I ended up sharing with hundreds of mosquitoes which suggests a poor level of hygiene. The visible surfaces were clean enough, but everywhere else was dusty and dirty.

When I asked the lobby to spray my room for mosquitoes, they sent a young man with an empty can of anti-mosquito spray. He proceeded to spray all around the room even though he knew that the can was finished and was just emitting aerosol gas - in the end, I had to ask him to get a full can and he grinned sheepishly and left.

Oh, and to the genius who decided to put cockerels in cages all around the grounds. I'd like to get your address so that I can show up in front of your house at 3 o'clock in the morning and shout "cock-a-doodle-doo" for you until you wake up. I'm sure you'll love it as much as I did.

The food is sub-par, the table cloths dirty, and your website bills you as a five star hotel? On that scale, the nearby Novotel is a ten-star.

Apart from all that, it was lovely.

I cannot complain about this hotel a lot. I love the front lobby which is very old traditional Javanese style, and they play traditional gamelan music in the afternoon. You cannot see this often in a lot of other hotels. Yes the whole building in need of total renovation, but other than that they don't really give extremely high rate either. So to me it was just average. If you'd prefer to have newer one with the same rate, try Ibis Solo.

Back to the past. That first impression when I entered the hotel area Kusuma Sahid Prince Hotel Solo. Unlike most existing modern hotel, this hotel maintains the architecture typical of ancient Javanese building.

Although more than 100 years old, this hotel is far from bleak. 120 rooms available in accordance with the standards of a modern five-star hotels, so comfortable. Shades of classical Javanese increasingly thickened at this hotel with the sounds that emerged from the gamelan that sounded and antique ornaments in various corners of the room. Hotel staffs with their Solo's hospitality nad various breakfast menu become an advantage of this hotel. Modern facilities such as shopping arcade, batik boutique, handicrafts, internet corner and fitness center are available at this hotel.

But there is a lack of signposts that directs the visitors to the hotel. Several times I had the wrong path and having trouble finding the hotel because its location is not on the main road.
