“Affordable and nice rooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2013

Rooms: good interior, nice and soft bed mattress. Room service: nice. Parking lot: enough spaces. Price: 200-300K rupiahs. Locations at good central location. At night there alot of satay sellers, so you just go out of hotel and find a lot of variety of food. Walk 5 minutes to jalan Depok, a lot of kaki lima, too. (street vendors)

Location: It's about 10-min walk to the main street (Jl Pemuda) and about 15-min to Toko Oen, a 70-year-old ice cream parlour that serves excellent Indonesian fare. Don't forget to try the rhum raisin.

Accommodation: Rooms are very clean but hardly have any views. The water pressure is so good that taking a shower is like getting a Thai massage.

Service: The staff are always attentive. When we requested an extra bed, the receptionists sent it with extra towel, toiletries, etc. within 10 minutes.

Food: When my chicken pot pie arrived so late that my friends had finished their mains already, the manager kept apologizing and offered us a discount. The only thing we couldn't understand was, since our booking was for three persons, why did he insist that we could have only two welcome drinks?

Facilities: We didn't use the way-too-small swimming pool since there were kids playing around as early as 6 am.

I spent 2 nights in room 503.
Pros: fast check in and check out, quiet room, comfortable bed, room equipped with LCD tv, electric kettle, tea and coffee, 2 bottles of mineral waters, strong shower, swimming pool at 3rd floor, various breakfast menu. Cons: the staffs (front office and restaurant) were not too friendly - where were their smiling faces? Room's floor was little bit dusty so better to wear hotel's slipper, the hotel location isn't at the main street, no fitness center.

Quest Hotel Semarang is located about 5 min drive from Simpang Lima Area. Unfortunately, it is located in small street, shabby area. However, for a 3-star, it is very nice. New, Clean room. The breakfast spread was wonderful. You can find everything from Indonesian food, Traditional Indonesian Food, Chinese, Western, and even Italian Pasta!!! A WONDERFUL spread for any standard, esp. for 3-star hotel. Nice hotel to stay at if you are budget conscious and don't mind the rather shabby sorrunding.

We need to stay 1 night in Semarang after visiting my father's grave so we stayed here.
the room is new with all new interior. the facilities are nice too although we didn't have time to try it
there is no resto near there, you need to walk about 300 m to find food stall. If you have vehicle with you would be nice..
Early in the morning we check out and it only take 10 minutes from hotel to airport.

Stayed for 2 days for business trip. The hotel condition and facilities are good, room is spacious enough, bed is comfortable, and the food tasted good and reasonably priced. Swimming pool is also good and clean. If you're a foodie, right next to the hotel there is a famous local restaurant called Soto Bokoran. It's usually open during breakfast to lunch only.

Location is not so good because no public transport in front of the hotel, and it's quite a long walk to Simpang Lima. Nothing to see within walking distance of this hotel and it's quite shabby at night. You will need a taxi to go elsewhere or to reach this place, but it's quite easy to call a taxi here.

I booked through astonhotels website and got a complimentary airport/train station pickup. Rate was good, only US$30-ish including breakfast for 2. Checking in was a breeze and the staffs were friendly. Room was small, bathroom also small, but very clean, and there's a see-through glass between bed and bathroom that can be opened/closed. Gives the feeling of a much bigger room.

Swimming pool was small but cute. Breakfast selection is good, more to cater international guests (less local food), taste just OK. Location-wise is in a small street, but you can always ask the hotel staff to find you a cab. There's also several tasty food joint nearby such as Soto Bokoran (Indonesian soup), Bakmi Pak Gareng (fried rice/noodles), etc.
