I have been staying at the Santika for a week. It is fine, nothing special, and that is why it gets a three. If you are going to travel all the way to Malang - and getting here is not easy, with the Sidoarjo mud flow blocking the highway from Surabaya - then you would want something that is at least special, with a bit of character. This hotel has the character of a good Holiday Inn - fine, clean, but it could be Anywhere. Also, the location is not great - it is right on the Surabaya - Malang road and not even in the city centre - which admittedly only a kilometer or two away. Finally, the rates are high for this part of the country and the staff don't really speak English, although they are friendly. Overall, fine, nothing special.

The hotel is one of the nicest/newest in Malang. Going through the lobby will take you to the pool area, small, but cute. The room is on the smaller side, but clean and modern. I recommend this hotel If you are looking for a nice and modern place to stay in this city.

Whithin the past two years I have overall spent about 3 weeks in Santika Malang and I am absolutely satisfied. Good location, not central but still well connected with downtown by minubus or taxi; staff is absolutely professional, helpful and friendly; minimal-elegant appearance, high quality restaurant, room, bathroom, furnitures, pool is good size and perfectly clean (even though gets shadowed in the afternoon).Easy and quick to get to the city centre by cab or public minivan as it is not walking distance Overall is excellent value for money. I would recommend this hotel to all travellers to Malang also familes and will definitely stay again next time.

We stayed in Hotel Santika Malang for 4 whole nights during our recent trip. Malang is about 2hours road journey from Surabaya. Hotel is very neat. Staff are polite though communication breakdown did happen. Breakfast is great...variety..from Cereals for the kids to croissants, porridges, fried rice and other local and western dishes. Malang is also a gateway to Mount Bromo. Tea plantation, waterfall, apple farms accessible from the hotel. It was about 3hours drive from where we stayed. Rate per night was about 500,000RP. Great food and shops near the hotel. Must try the Terang Bulang pancake sold by a vendor just opposite the hotel. About 15minutes walk from the hotel, were 2 factory outlets - Glamour and Darmo. Another factory outlet Cargo, is about 5 to 10mins driver from the hotel. Trishaws and taxis easily available from the hotel.
