Dear Andryen,

Thank you so much for staying with us in October 2012 and taking the time now to share with us your feedback. We are delighted to hear of your appreciation of the artistic and historic value of our museum boutique hotel in the center of Malang .

We do have a wide range of local and international favorites for breakfast. Our local buffet consists of 2 breakfast main courses which are changing daily, called Warung Pagi that authentically represent the real street food loved by the locals of Malang from the old days since culinary heritage is also our culture. Besides this you can choose from a wide range of items from the menu. Having gourmet breakfast in our restaurant is a cultural experience where meals are served according to each personal palate.
You might be also interested to know that we also just launched a new ala carte breakfast menu where you can dive into a wide range of east Javanese and south east Asian delights as well as international comfort breakfast items from around the globe and our new healthy breakfast which gives you a fresh kick start in the morning.

Hotel Tugu Malang has 49 rooms and suites, where you can choose from 7 different room categories and we recenly upgrated all our rooms with flat screen TV's and King Koil mattresses for maximum comfort. Our pool with over 110 sqm can be used for swimming, plunging and has a seperate area for the kids.

Andryen, it would be our pleasure to welcome you soon again. In the meantime let us know anytime if there is something we can do for you.

Warmest regards
Yudha along with Hotel Tugu Malang family

Stayed there for just one night during a very short family visit in Indonesia. The hotel is magnificient (you feel like you're invited into someone's home, that person being an Art Collector). I felt I should have stayed a week to fully discover all the beautiful work of art hidden in the hotel. The afternoon tea is also wonderful, with Indonesian delicacies and home made ginger tea. The staff is simply wonderful, they truly go the extra mile to help, whatever your request might be. A special thanks to Bagus who was there to assist in all my requests from the day I enquired about the room all the way through our check out. The restaurant is also really good. All and all the best "indonesian hospitality" I have seen in many years (and I travel extensively in Indonesia and South East Asia).

This hotel is very cultural and it's almost like a museum, albeit with very comfortable rooms. Architecture is dutch colonial , service was good except for Melati restaurant, service there can be a hit and miss but the Indonesia food is delicious, European cuisine not bad set in an very nice ambience. Incidentally rated by tatler magazine as one of the top Indonesian restaurant so can't go wrong. Location of this hotel is set in the old town surrounded by leafy boulevards. The museum is 5 mins walk away, and so is Java Dancer cafe (really good coffee!) is just opposite the back entrance. Not forgetting the Apsara spa was excellent and highly recommended to be book in advance or you will be disappointed.

The day trips to Mt Bromo organize by the hotel was also good, i extended the trip to cover the Savannah and had to pay a little more to the jeep driver which is a private arrangement. Otherwise the temples tour around the malang area wasn't that impressive as compared to the jogjakarta area so you can skip this if time is short.

Truly a culinary, cultural experience and comfortable stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: all suites on the second floors are good choices

This is one of the most remarkable hotels we ever stayed in.
The location is the best, the Dutch heritage building is well kept from the outside and every inch from the inside is nothing less than a very atmospheric museum. Staff is friendly, informal and kindly willing to show you around (do not miss a little tour through the Apsara residence). Have you free high tea, ask for some tips to get around, start up your free wifi, take your all-day breakfast or take a dip in the serene pool. You want another room? Staff will show you all what is free. Have your dinner. At least if you are able to make your choice (from 'erwtensoep to 50 kinds of nasi goreng). Nothing is a problem. We went to the bird market just behind the hotel early in the morning. At check out, our transport to Mt. Bromo was ready. The gave us breakfast for the following morning because they knew our next hotel (Java Banana) would not provide any food before you go up the mountain (wow!).

Rooms can also be considered part of the museum. So far, an easy 5 star rating.
Bathroom of our Zamrud suite (not a suite, but at 29m2 room, just a little larger than the others) was not really functional. But worst of all was the mattress. Too firm. We just were not able to sleep on it. And that is by our standards the most essential criterium for any hotel. A pity, because this is by far your best option to stay in Malang. Our advice to the management: get some soft decks for those travelers who ask for it. And by the way, staff is so friendly they allowed a large group of international tourists to barge into the hotel to view the artworks and the use the toilets without even buying a drink. Not polite to the hotel staff, not a great experience to the hotel guests.

A very nice surprise. Great piece of history. Very unique location. Service was outstanding. Price was certainly very reasonable. Food was good, not great. Spa was in holiday mode so hours were short and availability minimal. Also, be used it is an old building the rooms and atmosphere is dark. Overall a very good place to stay
