This restaurant is more a museum than a restaurant, but this doesn't hurt the dining experience. In fact the food is above average and the javanese traditional nuance bring this place into a perfect experience. Value for money also fine, for it is not too expensive.

This restaurant mainly serves Indonesian food, especially Javanese food. It is a Malang nostalgic restaurant.

The interior of this restaurant gives a Javanese ambience. Other pieces of the restaurant’s decorations include framed, original newspapers in Dutch from the colonial era, old typewriters and antique radios.

Looking forward to coming back to this restaurant.

I like the atmosphere of javanese and historical theme of this restaurant. We can learn about East Java's histories from pictures putted around the walls, unique things placed at the coridoor and rooms, and gamelan's music and wayang on the stage. It serve tradisional javanese food.

But, the food are a little bit sweet and the waiters hospitality is very low. The waiters cannot direct the customer to the table so give a market condition because waited customer wait just right by the nearly finished customer. The waiters also cannot serve the foods in the right place, they put it at the edge of the table, far away from the customer.

This restaurant is really nice! I really love the museum concept they bring. It has antique Old Malang atmosphere since the front gate; they have collections of antique telephones, typewriters, masks, posters, paintings, and so on. The service is nice; the servants are friendly, English-trained (since there are a lot of foreigners come here), and fast service. They usually held some art performance on the stage while customers are enjoying the food; dance performance or gamelan. Beautiful.

And the dishes!! I recommend you to try their ayam bakar (IDR ~35k) and the special beverage, wedang jahe for only IDR 8,000. I think the price is relatively cheap for a fancy restaurant like this (since i was travelling solo and i am a college student :p).

Rumah Makan Inggil is my kind of place. It has that traditional, vintage charm when I stepped into it. I went here twice for lunch during my stay in Malang and both visits were great. I love the ayam bakar (grilled chicken) as it was nicely marinated and so tender. I tried the apple sambal which was refreshing with a slightly spicy, slightly sweet, and a touch of sour flavor combination. We opted at the lesehan (no chair) booth and after all those great food it was really tempting to just stretch and take a catnap. Definitely recommend this place for eating in Malang.
