“Some space need to be renovated”
Reviewed April 30, 2012 via mobile

I've been staying here quite s few times. And overall i can say that this hotel was ok but not great or poor. It listed as 4star hotel, but i can say that it was somewhere in between 3 to 4 star. It definetely below 4 star hotel average. The interior was classic (its a heritage hotel) as expected.

The location is well placed in front of 'Istana Bogor' or 'Bogor Presidential Palace' and if you're lucky, you cam get a great view of the palace from your room.

They have one swimming pool in the middle, not big, but enough. The room was ok for me, although it was below 4 star standard.

Nothing special for me, but i like their food at the restaurant.

Other than sleep and eat, there was not much you can do around in walking distance. You can take pictures of the palace in front but you cant get inside.

One was very annoying is the parking space, which is very small and cannot hold all the cars if the hotel is fully booked. Sometimes you have to park your car outside.

we're having annual meeting here for 4 days, it was totally a mess.
for the room, we don't even get a hairdryer. breakfast time at the 1st day, we're sent to the coffee shop because the restaurant space is too small & ask the waiter for omelet, he said they didn't have it although we found it on the menu board. broken facilities at the fitness center. annoying sound from the air conditioner room, could not remote the air conditioner at the meeting room.
really standard menu (breakfast, lunch & dinner), can't even compare with the other 4 star hotel at jakarta.
at the second day meeting, after lunch we don't find any waiter in front of the meeting room, we had to wait for more than 2 hours & went to the receptionist only asking for HOT WATER & TEA.

The historic ‘The Heritage’ Salak Hotel has always been my choice when I come to Bogor to visit the marvelous Botanical Garden. I’ve seen the Hotel’s ups-and-downs. Now I‘m skeptical of staying here again. It’s clearly in a slow but inexorable downward spiral.
Check-in and -out are friendly and efficient; but there was no-one to help with the luggage.
The hotel lobby remains spacious and airy. The lounge-bar area (‘Rafflesia Lounge’) down through the last years has gone from bad to worse. Uncouth, drab, an unwelcoming staff more interested in their TV programme than in guests. The swimming pool in the central courtyard is kept clean and the little garden is pretty and relaxing.
I’d booked one of the more expensive rooms: standard hotel furniture. Good writing desk with clear lighting; very small TV-screen; comfortable lounging chair and small table; great and relaxing bed. But the bed linens are worn. The bathroom is small and functional; many of the fixtures are in need of repair or replacement (lots of rust); often only luke-warm water. Housekeeping is less than thorough.
The airco is very noisy and barely functions, and there’s a lot of noise, too, from other machines or engines outside. Usually I try to sleep without an airco and only a sheet for cover; the thickness of the bedclothes made that impossible here.
The broadband/wifi is complimentary, but it is incredibly and exasperatingly slow and erratic in uploads and downloads. Very often the connection is unavailable or conks out in the middle of something. Besides, the hotel irritatingly likes to force its own commercials on to the webpage which you’ve got to open to continue with what you were about to (to try) do.
The restaurant (‘Kanari Café’) serves meals. The restaurant servers are friendly and efficient. Breakfast has a smallish spread (with what seems to be re-heated Indonesian foods possibly from the evening before) including fresh fruit; you’re safest ordering your eggs straight from the kitchen (where they do a good job with fried eggs). As for dinner: go elsewhere.
In general, the hotel has become sloppy (e.g. ‘forgetting’ to return laundry on time: ‘so sorry, sir.’)
Given the price, the ‘tiredness’ of the hotel, the awful internet: it’s probably advisable to book another place. On the other hand: the location just beside the Kebun Raya is very good. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll return.

Check-in took forever. First room we were given was disgusting, brown dust on all surfaces, shower pointed opposite direction to bath, sink taps didnt work but made horrendous noise. No glasses, tea or coffee facilities as advertised, no coathangers and most importantly for us the air con didn't work. We insisted on another room and that was acceptable. Bar service extremely slow, only a few bottles of beer available, no wine and very limited spirits, but is Muslim country but still didn't mention it anywhere. Restaurant did buffet style dinner which was very nice but then we noticed the same fish/chicken type curry dishes and big dishes of rice were back out the next morning with little burners under them when we went down for breakfast, thank heavens for cornflakes & toast. We were there for a family occasion and within days, quite a few were being ill but that could be down to all sorts of changes when you go on holiday! You could not change any currency in the hotel although it advertised it and very few staff spoke any other language.

This is a review which is purely academic in that it would not matter at all to the hotel! Because of their advantageous location and the attitude of a clientele that would not bother, there is little motivation for them to "improve" or take into account any feedback.  And the hotel needs major work to get anywhere to being acceptable. The rooms are in real bad shape with leaks in the bathroom ceiling, faucets that are loose, and shower curtains that are badly stained. Rooms are cleaned without any vacuming and it is extremely difficult for the staff to understand simple questions. The staff also do not seem to have any "authority" to ensure their simple rule of no smoking is observed. The irony of it is that there is a big sign as you enter that one is entering a no smoking zone! The Raffelsia with such a grand name is truly disappointing where at 5 pm there is no ice cream despite a menu that displays various ice cream items. I was in a group of 25 and our reservations were handled so badly we had to resort to forceful arguments to get our reservations sorted out. We all
