“A Peaceful Temple”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

From Bogor, we took Jalan Empang-Cikaret-Ciapus route, after around 12 KM, turned left at a smaller road, with sign PURA PARAHYANGAN AGUNG JAGATKARTTA. Cikaret-Ciapus road was in good condition, but the smaller road to the Temple was quite bumpy. So, had to drive slower from that left-turn. Parking area was wide, it could fit many vehicles, even big ones like bus.

The Temple building was in Balinese style architecture, surrounded by Salak mountain view, mild weather, mystical ...

There were guardians at the entrance. Had to let them know the purpose of visit. For a common visitors, the allowed-area was only up to the outer yard of Mandala. Like any religious site, visitors had to take off their footwears to enter. Also, had to wear a yellow-fabric-belt on our waists. Naturally, visitors had to act respectfully and wear decent clothings in visiting religious site. Temple was opened for common visitors until 4 p.m in the afternoon. After that hour, it was opened only for praying. No fee to enter the Temple.

After climbing several stairs, in the outer yard, there was Ganesha statue, with scripture: DO NOT BE AFRAID OF LIVING, AS LONG AS ONE IS LIVING ACCORDING TO THE DHARMA. A reminder to us all, to be aware all the time, to live consciously ...

For visitors who'd like to pray, could enter the Mandala area through the inner gate. The altar for praying/meditating, was facing Mount Salak. It was a very peaceful, silent ...

“A Hindu Religious Site Under Salak Mount”
Reviewed May 26, 2012

Parahyangan Agung Jagatkarta Temple is a Hindu Religious Site in Taman Sari Village, Ciapus Sub-district, Bogor District. It stands under Mount Salak. The weather around the site is absolutely mild. For sure, the temple is far away from hassle situation.

Before you enter to temple area, it is better for you to report your purpose of visiting - traveling or praying - to the guardians. You don't need to pay anything, but you can give some money as a voluntary fee. It doesn't matter how much do you want to give to them, it is all up to you. If you visit this temple for praying or meditation, temple guardians will guide you. If you don't, your area is only around park. For notice, this temple can exists because of hands from local and visitors.

There are many food stalls around temple area. You can hangout and enjoying the atmosphere before/after visiting the temple.

How to get here and When to go

Bogor Town is your perfect base. From here, you can pick up local transport (the blue one with number 03) that brings you to Ciapus. You can find it at Bogor Trade Mall (BTM). The journey takes 45 minutes until one hour. So, enjoy the journey!

Try to avoid Saturday, Sunday and Hindu Religious Holidays. There are many prayers to get here.
At the end, do not put a high expectation about this attraction, this is just a religious site. However, If you down into culture and history, Parahyangan Agung Jagatkarta Temple is a place for you. And those who love photography - especially pro -, just explore the area around the temple, you won't regret!
