“Excellent Surroundings, Mediocre Food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2014

We went here after a day sitting in traffic visiting the Lembang area. We arrived at 5 PM and waited maybe 10 minutes for a table, SG1, by the river. The dining area was VERY beautiful and relaxing.

The food was extremely mediocre. The servers were nice and the food didn't take too long for us. No hour waits like people have mentioned.

It's obvious that this is a destination place and you pay for that. You pay for the nice surroundings. For five us, with fritters, an entree, waters and a coffee, we all paid around 700,000 total. Granted, this is not expensive for an American, but by Indonesian standards it's very expensive.

The food itself tasted just ok. We all had a different chicken and duck dish as well as different fried fritters. The food was fine. I mean not much to say about it as honestly, I wasn't expecting much.

“Unbeliveably slow service & tasteless food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2014 via mobile

I came here for the second time in Dec 2013 with my fiance. We honestly were very disappointed of the slow service & the tasteless food. We ordered 1 iced tea, 1 teh poci, 1 mie kocok, 1 bakwan malang & 1 sate ayam. We got our bakwan malang & mie kocok after waited for around 15 mins. The drinks came later for another 10 mins or so.

The worst thing happened when we had to wait for 75 mins (yes that's true, 75 minutes) for the sate ayam. We called the servers 3 times only to find "sebentar ya" as the answer to our request for the food. It finally came shortly after my fiance gave very firm reminders. The server who delivered the sate did not even apologize at the first time & only said sorry after i asked why it came so late. The answer to my question was because they did wrong delivery to another customer.

For the hype this resto gains, i personally think it is obviously overrated. I only enjoyed the nice ambience & cool temperature surrounding the saung. Other than that, i believe this resto needs to improve its overall service, especially the food & the serving time. Will not recommend to friends & will not come back.

“Worthwhile experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

This place is something city dwellers should not miss. Great return to nature. Where else can you enjoy your meal amidst a cool forest setting, with the calming sound of bubbling streams in the background?

Food is average but the experience is not to be missed.

“A restaurant with good ambience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

If you're looking for a wonderful outdoor restaurant with exceptionally good Indonesian cuisine, Kampung Daun is the best place to visit. Since it's uphill, the air is cool and breezy. The greenery is lush and gives about a sense of tranquility and calmness. I love the Sundanese touch in decoration.

Food is delicious, not only will you find authentic Indonesian food but also Western options are available, though the local food shines. The little huts are such a delight to cosy up with family and friends and chat while having desserts and coffee after meals. I especially love the little outdoor stalls selling tidbits and goodies. It's all made on the spot and children are always amazed by food.

The entertainment is enjoyable and very traditional.

Overall, Kampung Daun is a wonderful eating place with some cultural highlights. Service is good although can be much improved, especially during peak period.

“Natural nuance and back to nature resto”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

I like this natural nuance place . Eating lunch or dinner here is a nice experience. The View is a lot better at night with the romantic light. The traditional food is better than their western food on my humble opinion but overall The food is good There is this small huts where u can sit and eat at the same time just enjoy the scenery! Lots of greens around! Their sambal is to die for but it's not for weak heart(too spicy)....be aware.....its back to nature resto!
