Description: THE PARIS OF JAVA At Maison Bogerijien, indulge in an ambience and menu that takes you back in time to the glorious days of Indonesia's colonial past. The paintings and pictures on the restaurant's walls reminisce of the "Parijs Van Java" period when Bandung lay at the heart of the Dutch East Indies and was home to a melange of grand hotels, restaurants, cafes and European boutiques. Combined, these pictures tell the story of Maison Bogerijen's links to Indonesia's rich Dutch heritage. A CENTURY OF MAISON BOGERIJEN Opened in 1918 by L. Van Bogerijen, Maison Bogerijen was first located on the east side of the Bragaweg and Oude Hospitalweg crossroads. Set in a typical townhouse of the time, the restaurant featured a dinning room that opened up to a garden sheltered by the canopy of two majestic trees. A symbol of the Kingdom of the Netherlands could be seen in the middle of the building and signs in French, such as "glacier", "cuisinier" and "confiseur", decorated parts of the roof. By 1923, the restaurant had moved to its present location at Braga Permai in Bragaweg. A MYRIAD CULTURES & CUISINES With its assortment of French, local Indonesian and Dutch delights, Maison Bogerijen soon became a popular favourite, with prominent figures in the Dutch Kingdom and the governor generals of the Dutch East Indies amongst its elite patrons. The restaurant served a menu of sweet goodies, including cakes, chocolates and ice creams, but it also served main dishes from different countries and cultures, providing a dining experience like no other. Loyal customers came from areas around Braga such as Coorde Alley, Spaarbank Alley, Telepfoon Alley, Bruyn & Thyssen Alley, Oude Hospitalaweg, Tamblongweg and more. They made their way to the back of the building daily to delight in the restaurant's special morning stall, which sold a selection of breads and cakes for a hearty breakfast. For customers living further away from Braga, the stall ran a delivery service until the late 1980s. FROM MAISON BOGERIJEN TO BRAGA PERMAI Journey with us in time as you dine in the Paris of Java. Treat yourself to our original authentic recipes such as ontbijkoek, booterstaf, ananas gebak and almond speculaas as well as a range of other dishes and desserts from around the world. Indulge too in the restaurant's colonial charm, which pays homage to its Indonesian and Dutch roots. Fragments of the old Maison Bogerijen such as the old kitchen, the room used to bake bread (including the old oven and mixer) and the residual gas pipe remain today to add to the charm. Today known as Braga Permai, the restaurant is a local favourite, treasured for serving up the best of both worlds. - a modern tribute to a time gone by

“Waitress and manager steal from their customers & food poisoning”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

I would advise everyone to avoid this place.
We were here with our group during our holiday in Indonesia.

We were sitting apart from any other customers, when suddenly one of my fellow travelers was missing her bag which was next to here chair in the corner of the restaurant.
Her including a new camera , iPhone & money was stolen.
After we spoke with our friends it became certain that a tall waitress and the manager had stolen the bag. The both of them were acting funny around the spot our friend was sitting.
After the police arrived they asked every employee to show up but the tall waitress wasn't there. The manager said all the employees were there. The police couldn't do a thing.

The next day we walked down the street and saw that the tall waitress was working at the restaurant again. . . .

Also that day me and a friend were ill, intestine/belly problems and diarrhea. The doctor diagnosed food poisoning and we got antibiotics and pills to get the diarrhea under control.
We were the only ones from the group who had the 500 grams grill steak.

I hope i have convinced a few people to say away from this place.

“Resto for real gourmet in Bandung”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

If you are really a gourmet who looking for the right place in Bandung, the Braga Permai Resto is the right place. Their specialties are to serve unique menus which have been maintained since colonial era in early 19s. You can not found similar menus with other places in Bandung.

Foods are really great with reasonable price. We recommend you to visit once you arriving Bandung.

“Eating in Deco Style”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

Nice old restaurant in the Braga Area, with Art Deco style building. The food taste is delicious, the services is good and you'd feel a nostalgic sense about the interior.

“Nothing special anymore”
Reviewed July 28, 2013 via mobile

This place been here since I'm just a kid. This place is always crowdy and for my own personal taste it's still to loud, maybe caused its located in very high traffic area and at the pavement.

The food always been great and the price is reasonable but the way they serve it sometimes takes longer and sometimes the appearance isn't standard or maybe when I came its just one of those days the the food serve isn't at top performance mode caused of the customers is so much.

This place doesn't really evolve through the year even if this is one of the oldest restaurant in bandung but still in my opinion thus place can do more to spice up the place .

“Dirty overall”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

The place was very dirty, the floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week: foodstains everywhere, with long black hair, napkins with god knows what on the floor, the tables were stacked with leftovers from clients that had already been gone for at least an hour(thats the time that we spend there). Then the order: we chose a chicken steak, was listed to come with french fries and veggies. Thought to have made a safe choice.. But felt like having a reheated leftover from the night before. vegetables definitely not freshly cooked and the fries, were wedges that I doubt came straight from the stove.. Same goes for the chicken steak..
Definitely hope that we our stomachs are not going to regret to have stayed tonight...
