“Lived up to its reputation”

Very busy little place sems to have a cult following now...looks bigger from outside, open atmosphere but not many tables unless you want to sit crosslegged Bali style. Located 5 min walk from the Tourist Centre meeting point. Could not get in the first night we tried, too busy. Walked past at lunch time and they had a table over looking the road..some strange sights walking by. I had the prawn salad which was very small and small prawns but nicely presented. Wife had the vegie club sandwich which was sizable for the price. I had a pinacolada which actually had some alchohol in it (some others put so little in). In all,no complaints for the relative low price, tasty and well presented ; would have been nice to try some other dishes at night but we left Ubud that night.

“Great food”

I love food here. This is the best place to try Indonesian food and some cocktail. And yes, tourist price not cheap :)

“Balinese spirit, excellent food, 200m Ubud Palace, 100m Oka Kartini shadow puppet performance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

Had dinner at Nomad last night. Reminded me of why I always liked Ubud so much. Open-air restaurant, gracious hostess, musician softly playing traditional instrument, fair variety of food, excellent food, We were somewhat pressed for time but this presented no problem. Our food was delivered promptly without rushing us and we were asked if we wanted both courses at once to save time (we didn't), Our bill for two, with an appetizer, two beverages, two of the special of the day (not less expensive, just not on regular menu) was under 300k Rp. You could eat simply for 50 to 100k or spend double or more with drinks and dessert.

We ate in the dining room. The other side was a bar and had some low tables with cushions. That area seemed inviting to a younger crowd. Reservations recommended.

The only downside is that it is on Jalan Raya, although on the quieter end of the street, there is traffic. However, the setting, music and hospitality made up for the street noise.

This now my new favorite Ubud restaurant. Can't wait to go back. You should take in a shadow puppet performance at least once when you visit Bali and this would be a great place to eat before or after.

“Good Arak Cocktails”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2013

This is another much talked about restaurant in Ubud. The food is pretty good and the portions are huge. I had a chicken sate; it was good, but I've had better chicken sate in smaller places in Amed. The arak-based cocktails were something else! I had an Arak Dynamite, which was a ginger based cocktail - very refreshing!
You might want to book a table in advance on weekends. It gets pretty crowded.

“Love this place, come back each trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2013

I just love the Balinese Tapa's. Its great to be able to try the local cuisine in little bite size morsels, six dishes and rice for 49,000rp so cheap! It is a great location and if you get a front table you can watch the world pass by whilst enjoying the beautiful food on offer. Their beer could be a little colder, but I always ask them to put one in the freezer ready for my next order. They used to give you free deep fried spinach leaves on arrival, its a shame they don't anymore as these were a highlight of my visits. A must visit restuarant in a great location.
