Description: Cafe Wayan and Bakery Established in 1986 We are happy to have had so many nice guests come to enjoy our food for over 31 years. Cafe Wayan started as a small warung (a local food stall) where Ibu Wayan sold black rice pudding and coffee to the rice farmers on what has now become Monkey Forest Road. Tourist began walking down "the path" to the Monkey Forest and stopped by for a coffee, snacks or to buy peanuts for the monkeys. Ibu Wayans always love to cook as a child and soon the menu began to expand. Return friends to Ubud began helping with recipes of western dishes as long term visitors and residents sometimes miss their own food too. Ibu Wayan began traveling abroad and learned more western cooking with Chef Joe Schultz of India Joes's restaurant in Santa Cruz, California and also learned the art of Thai cuisine in Bangkok.

“A beautiful place to eat”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

I visited Cafe Wayan with my husband and our parents when in Ubud last week. We loved it so much we went a second time. The atmosphere was fantastic with many tables but managing to achieve enough privacy. The Nasi Campur was delicious as was the chicken satay- my mum's favourite. But the highlight was the specials that we ordered on our second visit. I had an absolutely delicious duck and potato curry.
A very nice waiter, Dewar, added to our lovely time there. Highly recommended.

“Great Atmosphere”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

We enjoyed our dinner at Cafe Wayan with our 3 children - 13, 10 & 8. It's a great atmosphere, I recommend it. Dinner was good for the kids, but they really liked their choices - pasta, pizza, chicken soup. No Indonesian choices for them. Crepes were good too.

“Great nasi campur and must try the Balinese buffet on sunday!”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

Cafe Wayans nasi campur is the best in Ubud and the Balinese buffet on sundays is great!
For dessert, you must try the bubur injin (black rice pudding) and dadar gulung (green pancakes filled with coconut and palmsugar).
The gardens are really relaxing and the staff is very friendly.
In 2 weeks time, we ate at Cafe Wayan for more than 10 times and we will definitely be back.
Thank you staff and mrs. Wayan for the great food and the nice memories!

“Expected a little more. Restaurant in the middle of beautiful nature, but with regular food.”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

During our tour to Ubud , we decided to go to Café Wayan to have lunch.
This is a beautiful restaurant, since in everywhere there's live nature, surrounding you. Lots of lotus flowers, little lakes and green plants around.
When we arrived we were impressed with all this beauty.

The menu is large, but the food is disappointing. It is neither good nor bad. We were expecting something really good, given the good reviews we read before , about this place.
Maybe if we had tried the bakery and pastry we would be more satisfied, because these goods were very good looking.

At the end, we found the bill a little expensive for the quality of what we ate.
