Description: Cafe Wayan and Bakery Established in 1986 We are happy to have had so many nice guests come to enjoy our food for over 30 years. Cafe Wayan started as a small warung (a local food stall) where Ibu Wayan sold black rice pudding and coffee to the rice farmers on what has now become Monkey Forest Road. Tourist began walking down "the path" to the Monkey Forest and stopped by for a coffee, snacks or to buy peanuts for the monkeys. Ibu Wayans always love to cook as a child and soon the menu began to expand. Return friends to Ubud began helping with recipes of western dishes as long term visitors and residents sometimes miss their own food too. Ibu Wayan began traveling abroad and learned more western cooking with Chef Joe Schultz of India Joes's restaurant in Santa Cruz, California and also learned the art of Thai cuisine in Bangkok.

“Love this cafe”

Cafe Wayan's nasi campur is a must try if you are in ubud. I also ordered the mixed satay this round and the meat was deliciously grilled and very flavorful. Staff was very friendly. The restaurant feels very different in the day and night so it makes a varied experience visiting it at different times of the day. Plus it takes you out of the busy ubud streets into a relaxing environment where you can sit back, relax, enjoy the company of your companion or just the beautiful surrounding.

“Simple but nice!”

The back garden and especially a few tables set on traditional beds are very nice.
Food is quite good when served hot (you might want to insist on that).
A very good experience overall!

“a reliable restaurant for Bali-biginners”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

On the first day of the first trip to Bali we enjoyed the most popularwell‐known local taste; sate ayam and nasi goreng.
We appreciated smooth arrangement of picking up service by just telling name of hotel we stayed, which is one of Alam group.
It could have been perfect, if they had invied us to one of available garden-view tables.

Central on Monkey Forest Road. Beautiful garden setting. Great food at great prices.

Try a cooking class there as well.

Highly recommended.

“A gard”

You have to pass by cafe Wayan during your stay in Ubud. See the pictures of the place to understand why, it's difficult to describe how beautiful the place is. The food was also very good, and you can find the real Balinese food there. The location is also very central. My wife and I went for a snack and a drink, and they were great.
