This hotel is small, I call it a boutique hotel, 14 rooms....It is definitely not your high end 5 star hotel but it was perfect for my Bali vacation. Breakfast included which was always superb. Pool...older style but clean and all I needed. Very close to Ubud central through the Monkey Forest or a shuttle is available to take you into town and pick you up. Rooms are kept very clean...housekeeping very efficient. Reception is so helpful for any of your needs. I stayed here for 8 nights then travelled around Bali and returned for another 4 nights. Nice area to take a walk outside of hotel, not busy like the other streets in Ubud. Exceptional value! 3 nights included dinner and breakfast! and a one hour massage for free. Nice views of the rice fields.

My sister in law recommended Saren Indah to us. Its fantastic, it close to the main shopping area (via the monkey forest). If you don't want to go for the entertaining walk there is a shuttle every couple of hours. The rooms are nice, views nicer, considering where you are its so quiet its fantastic. The staff are what really make the Saren Indah stick out in my mind, from the front desk to the cleaning and gardening staff they are wonderful. You feel like you are visiting long lost friends.

Room Tip: ask about water pressure if showers are important to you.

If your after a hotel that is small in size but has excellent service and facilities Saren Indah is the hotel for you. Its quiet and peaceful but still close enough to central ubud. But there are a few restaurants minutes away by foot and a coffee shop. Don"t want to hire a scooter? Free shuttle to and from hotel.Rooms are spacious and clean.Staff are professional and friendly and personable.I was there for my birthday and they made me feel very special with a birthday decorated table for me at breakfast, the staff sang happy birthday to me and a cake with a candle- personal touches. They have dance performances at the hotel which is great as well. I can not fault the hotel considering the price you pay each night. Thank you Saren Indah for a memorable holiday.

Room Tip: Upstairs have a view but can get tiring walking up and down every day. Ground floor rooms nice garde...

The room was nice and spacious and clean. Location is quite central without being too busy and the restaurant next door is very good too. The staff were nice and the service was good. The cleaners start very early so don't expect to sleep in much past 8am on your holiday. We arrived at 2am on the first night and found the cleaners start banging and stomping upstairs from before 8am but when we complained the staff were very apologetic. Breakfast was quite nice we had the nasi goreng which was good but it doesn't come with satays. All in all the value for money was ok and we would stay again if needing a central location near Ubud city. Perhaps stay upstairs is the best option to eliminate the noise factor!

Room Tip: Staying upstairs could be quiter :-)

What I like:
- Their email response are very quick and helpful
- Clean room and nice environment

What I don't like
- We booked a deluxe room, but the supposingly queen-size bed is actually 2 single-size bed joined together.
- The toilet is a bit old (you can feel the toilet move a little bit when you sit on it)
- The breakfast choice is a bit of let down

Location-wise, this is just "next" to the Monkey Forest. BUT this is not sitting on the monkey forest road. You will have to go through a small road (good for 2 motorcycles to go through) to reach Saren Indah.
For pedestrian, the road will be too dark at night and quite far by foot (10mins maybe).
For car, you will have to follow the long-way road from the main road.
The best way to go to ubud market is by motorbike! (2-3 mins).
* Saren Indah do provide shuttle bus in 2 hours interval (as of Nov 2012)

We had booked our first three days in Bali at the Saren Indah, as we knew that after 23 hours in transit we'd need some rest and pampering. (Booking by email was problem-free and efficient.) The hotel is lovely, the staff are accommodating, attentive, and cheerful, and the neighbourhood is much more of a village scene than just through the Monkey Forest in Ubud.

From the moment we were greeted with a tropical drink and a cool facecloth to the moment we were dropped off at our longterm rental at the end of our stay, we felt extremely well cared for. The included breakfast and free shuttle into Ubud were bonuses; the pool is refreshing; the beds are comfortable; the surrounding rice paddies and jungle let you know you are in a true tropical paradise.

Room Tip: We had a second floor View Room, which was great, but would not be good for people without strong le...

This place is amazing.

However, it is not a place for everyone. More on that later.

First thing you would have to wrangle is booking. Called the contact number listed on their website - the staff on duty speaks passable English - helpful in dishing out standard information, not so helpful in helping you out with your travel itinerary needs such as day/time/budget/etc. Was frustrated and went directly to email - took a bit of email to sort things out, at least the booking went through as we were already in Seminyak at the time of booking. This is the first thing Saren Indah can improve on as it is the first touch point for any interested customers.

Check-in process were a mixed feeling as it was slow - perhaps due to the heavy rain the same time I checked in - had some minty tropical fruit welcome drink followed by a brief session on the sights to see/eat in Ubud(comes with map - this saves us a lot of time when we're briefly lost), shuttle service to the Ubud center (Along Monkey Forest Road, if I remember correctly - comes with handy shuttle timing, once every 2 hrs from 9AM till 7PM/9PM). Here's another killer service they shared - should you be dining anywhere in Ubud and you would like to peruse the shuttle service, have your hotel card (Saren Indah's issued guest card) shared with the restaurant's staff - they will call your hotel and wah lah! you'll be picked up in no time.

Tired from the long day trip - the Deluxe Garden room we were in was great! We walked in into a roomy room with welcome fruit basket and a nice twin swan (rolled from towels - realized that when we showered) with a welcome note. Needless to say, we were impressed.

Now straight to business:-

1. The location of the hotel is a bit far from Ubud's town center where all the action is happening. Even the famous "Bebek Bengil" on the outskirts of the town center was roughly 10 minutes away on the bike. Rent a bike / bicycle (the concierge can help out with this) if you can and explore Ubud from one to another end especially if you're more a sightseeing person. Don't skimp on the map as the road signs are scarce and ask for directions if you're lost - most of the people we ask for directions are very helpful. The scenic routes are definitely worth your time.

2. Saren Indah's great for getaways - it is surrounded by paddy fields (big change compared to kuta & seminyak) and a beautiful pool to boot. A surprise inclusion (to us) in our hotel stay was breakfast. Perhaps due to it's location (being far from Ubud town center), including breakfast was a no-brainer. The food selection is wide and good for sustenance. But if you're looking to delight your taste palate with Ubud's long running dabble with spices and all - you'll be left disappointed. It's best to venture out where there's a lot of dining places waiting to surprise you.

3. The concierge was great with our needs despite a bump every now and then - everything we requested (nicely of course), we gotten it within a reasonable time frame such as the international power adapter, bike rental, checking-out and etc.

Saren Indah is definitely the place to go for getaways and if you look closely at the place they're situated at - there's a lot of pedigrees of hotel offerings that charge a whole lot more. With a little more tweaks to their service and offerings - it would be hard to deny this place a second stay.

Room Tip: 1. Pick the rooms on the first floor for better view and better sleep (We were on the ground floor a...
