“Nice place in Ubud”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

Very clean, staff friendly and helpful. Moderate 15 to 20 minute walk to Ubud central, but right next to Monkey forest and a free shuttle also to get to town. Breakfast good. They left our door unlocked the last night we were there putting our bill in the room. Nothing stolen. We let them know about this problem. Would still highly recommend.

After three years, I returned to Saren Indah with my beloved husband Michael on our honey moon! I was aware that there had been some upgrading of the property (additional dining area and bar) and was hoping that the hotel had managed to maintain its ultra welcoming and personal appeal.

I needn't have worried. From Kadek to Nyoman to Yeti to the housekeeping and garden boys, the staff were unfailingly helpful, positive and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in a beautifully clean first storey room with a large balcony overlooking the rice paddies. We loved watching the surrounding village and the everyday rituals in the hotel.

For a middle aged women from country WA, I spent six days in heaven. I didn't have to cook, clean, wash up or tackle the laundry! The food was superb ( the hotel's satay was by far the best around, according to Michael), the bar was most enjoyable ( I have had to get used to NO cocktails in the afternoon again!), the pool was clean, cool and relaxing and the the surroundings were beautiful.

As far as Michael was concerned, he fell in love with Saren Indah almost as rapidly as I had. A massage on the first day relieved all his aches and pains, the WIFI was efficient so he didn't lose track of his beloved Panaramio online and the ditsy little scooter the hotel organised for us all added to his enjoyment of our honeymoon. Every man needs to be able to escape on a motorbike when his other half goes shopping!

If I'm sounding like a vacant, vapid travel writer "sponsored" to write a flattering review, the reality is that I just happen to believe that Saren Indah is a perfect hotel was someone like me. It is not 5 star, nor does it pretend to be. It does not have a spectacular entry or the epitome of chic or the price tag like any number of anonymous hotels scattered all over Bali. Nor is it cheap or noisy. It does not have hawkers hanging around at the front entry. What Saren Indah provides is a haven from the madding crowd, whilst still being within walking distance from the bright lights, the cheerful chaos and the eclectic bustle that is Ubud.

We hope to return to return to Bali next year and visit the west and north coasts as well as Nyuh Kuning. Where will we stay? At Saren Indah of course.

Would we recommend Saren Indah? A resounding YES!!

Room Tip: If you can manges 21 steps, the upper rooms offer a magic outlook of the surrounds. On the other han...

An excellent hotel on the edge of Ubud. Our second stay was last minute and although we couldn't stay for as long as we wanted, Ary fit us in for 3 nights , one night in a down stairs room and 2 nights in an upstairs room.......we didn't mind at all and as we stayed for 3 nights we got the 3 free , 3 course meals each which were stunning as usual.... I loved the potato and leek soup as a starter whilst my partner enjoyed the gado gado.

Some of the staff remembered us from 8 months earlier, which was nice. It was great seeing the sun shining in Ubud as we usually come in January in the wet season. Pool was great as was the scooter hire which enabled us to get everywhere we wanted. A shuttle bus goes into Ubud centre every 2 hrs from the hotel, and they also will pick you up again free of charge if you're not comfortable with the idea of hiring scooters.

The staff bend over backwards to be friendly, accommodating and polite....sometimes too polite. Free of charge was the earthquake we experienced at 5.30am........bed moving etc...... Absolutely loved that experience :) We also found out about the rice paddy brown snake.......which is "no problem, the little green ones are poisonous".

Great relaxing hotel with so many different nationalities staying there as opposed to hotels in the beach areas of bali which are often full of Australians. We will be back for a third stay.

After wasting 2 nights in a shaddy hotel we found Saren Indah, the Ubud paradise.
This place is simply beautiful, the rooms are perfect, the service is so kind! The breakfast is much better that what we had in other hotel.
I wish we could have stayed longer in this Ubud quiet paradise.
I would come back for sure to Saren Indah. It is maybe one of the best value hotel in Ubud.
Location of the hotel is a bit apart from Ubud centre but they offer free minivan trip or it is easy to walk 10-15 minutes through the monkey forest.

My family and I recently returned from a wonderful 5 days in Ubud staying at Saren Indah Hotel. The staff made our stay very relaxing and special. The meals were good and the staff looked after us really well - they were helpful, polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. My mother turned 70 during our stay and Ary organised a birthday cake and decorated the bed with flowers - what a beautiful and thoughtful idea - this made our stay even more special. The only negative thing was the noisy and inconsiderate people staying in the unit above (slamming doors, etc) - it might be a good idea to advise anyone staying in the top units to be a little more considerate and quiet when there are people staying below them. Saren Indah is close to the monkey forest and only a short walk into Ubud town making it a great place to stay without all the hustle and bustle. We will definately be staying at Saren Indah in the future and would recommend the hotel to anyone wishing to stay in Ubud. Thank you Ary and your friendly and helpful staff for a special and relaxing stay.

After a lot of toing and froing I finally decided on the SAREN INDAH as my choice of hotel in UBUD for this trip. The proximity to town, the positive reports of the kind staff over many, many years and of course the monkey magic, without being too intense finally proved to be irresistible. The low price with hot water and air conditioning also was a primary factor. Having Laka Leke restaurant practically next door (but not too close) with its night time dancers was also a bonus even though unfortunately for me we arrived on a non dance night :( Ah well next time.

The moment we walked into the Saren Indah lobby in Ubud you could feel the positive energy unlike our last hotel which was three times the price. The large room is amazing with windows on both sides with views of rice paddies with a romantic mosquito net:) The staff also went above and beyond to help us out especially in a moment of crisis. Cocktails by the pool were a fabulous delight. It actually reminded me of the pricy MF Komaneka but without the infinity pool.

The monkeys would often hang out down the street a little towards the Monkey Forest which I loved. You could always count on some great entertainment from the monkeys across the road. It was like watching a Cirque du Soleil performance :P Their balancing act and jumps were incredible.

The only thing this hotel lacks is a stunning river valley view but for this price I was delighted with their rice paddy view which was especially beautiful at sunrise. A big thumbs up for the Saren Indah!!

Beautiful property, professional management, service oreiented staff, excellent food (as a vegetarian, this is one of the few places in Bali where we really liked the food and never had a prawn/fish wafers or ommlette served atop our vegetarian food). Breakfast is very nice.
Nice little rice fields surround the property. Friday evenings are a special treat when Legong dance is performed at the hotel's restaurant. The restaurant next door, Laka Leke, also has nice performances most of the evenings. Staying at this place, one will always have beautiful evenings.
After not-so-good experiences in Tanjung Benoa and Semniyak, this place was a very refreshing and wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Room 109 has the most spectacular 270 degrees rice field view. Showers are better in ground floor ro...
