“Quick Response”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

I'm looking for a hotel for such a holiday gateway, Aniniraka does not fail me. I stayed there with my partner for three days. The porch with rice field terrace view is really comforting. Listening to the frog at night notices me that the place as just quite as i expecting. The services was excellent, they serve us with a very quick response for any request we ask. Breakfast is just ordinary, the omellete is just a plain fried egg.

Room Tip: If you stay for three days, I suggest you to take the honeymoon package. I just realize when we chec...

I stayed at Anini Raka for a week in March 2012. I was looking for somewhere quiet and outside of the central Ubud area. It was certainly quiet (although this is the off-season in Bali), as for two of the nights I was the only guest. This may have something to do with the ongoing building works to extend the resort. First, the good news - I was upgraded free of charge, the rates were very low and the building noise was minimal: it's all being manually constructed, so no heavy machinery noise. Also the hotel was very flexible about the free shuttle service times to/from the town, and the staff were as helpful as they could be. The pool is small but pleasant, but you'll have to walk past the building works to get to it as the hotel is built on a narrow strip of land: rice field to one side, empty land to the other. Next the bad news - facilities are minimal: the WiFi only works in reception and then hardly at all (forget Skype, for instance), and breakfast is not that great. Room decor is pretty basic, and the more cleanliness-minded patrons might not be too impressed. Spa not in evidence.
As a frequent traveler to Bali in general and Ubud in particular, I would have to say there are more quality resorts available at about the same price. May be better once the building work is over with and the 'new' resort settles down. In that case, think 2013 before visiting.

Room Tip: While the building work is going on, closest to reception is best.

This hotel was located a bit off-center from Central Ubud. That is OK if you prefer to walk to the center, or be dropped off by the free shuttle service of the hotel in predictable intervals, or prefer the silence rather than the noise of Ubud's growing night life. But be reminded that there are little to no taxis coming this way, and it will be a pretty big problem for those who require airport transfers.

That said, the price of airport transfer of this hotel is EXTREMELY outrageous. You need to pay double for tours and airport transfers.

The room is large (I stayed at the Deluxe Pavilion). It is guarded by a huge lock on the door (and when I say lock, I mean lock and key), which I feel is very primitive in securing the door. The bed and sheets are well-prepared, however, on close inspection, one could really smell that the sheets were already dated. The curtains were dusty as well. And the floor is decorated with cobwebs, and fading red tiles. The room smells funny old, thus, it is such a relief to realize that I only stay in the hotel in the evening.

One might be irritated by the almost dysfunctional air-conditioner that has a hard time cooling itself, or the lack of a cable TV (then again, I am only here in the evenings, but for those who stay indoors most of the time, this may be a turn off).

WIFI is available in the lobby and in the restaurant. It is also in the rooms, however, it sometimes fluctuates, depending perhaps on its mood.

The breakfast is not fabulous, but for those who just want something in their bellies, it should be sufficient. It is a fixed breakfast, with a choice of continental, american or indonesian breakfasts. Hopefully, they add more varieties.

Overall, the hotel is as "normal" as it is (a bit overpriced though, if one would read their published rates), and nothing to be excited about. Its proximity from the town center may be tolerated, but the rooms and facilities could have been something more.

We stopped at Anini Raka for 3 nights. They said they only had a superior room left, so we took it, it wasn't that cheap about $150 per night. The rooms were nice and spacious, but on closer inspection, the curtains etc, had squashed in bugs and looked a bit dirty. But generally it was quite lovely and they have a nice little pool there too. The breakfast was all good which included eggs bacon, fruit, cakes, bread etc. I didn't really see anyone else staying there so i did wonder if they just said they had the superior room left to make a bit of money!

A great place to take a break. A good walk to town and can also catch the shuttle. Great pool, spa and good food. Our second stay in as many months.

We were so looking forward to our stay in Ubud, they say 1st impressions...staff on front desk were friendly and walk to the room was fine, but the room was shabby, uninviting and the outside bathroom was definitely not a good idea, unless you like stagnant jacuzzi and sharing with a toad and a lizard who clearly resented sharing with us!
Breakfast was unimaginative and cold.
We moved just 2 minutes up the road for the rest of our 8 day stay which wass delightful.

This small hotel is in a relaxed location alongside rice paddies. Beautiful gardens lead to the rooms which have a spacious front porch where you can sit and enjoy the tranquil environment. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It takes about 15 minutes to walk into the centre of Ubud, just take care not to disappear into one of the cavernous holes in the footpath. Would definately stay at this hotel again.
