“Noisy hotel and awful service”
Reviewed August 20, 2011

The hotel has good location, right in the middle of Monkey Forest Road. The facilities are Ok, though the rooms (upstairs) are quite small. But major problem is noise : in the night you can perfectly hear the concerts if the neighbour bars, and early in the morning the staff and the working (they are building new rooms). So the nights are quite short...
Another major problem is the staff, desperately seeking to sell you anything : bike four, massage, transport... It is obviously their unique goal, and they just keep asking and asking again, one of them even followed us into our room.
As there are so many hotels around, I would just advise to avoid this hotel.

The hotel is too close to the Monkey Forest road. As such, you can expect a lot of noise at night (there is a live band playing every night until 11 pm in a bar nearby) and some heavy traffic during the day (i.e. noise and air pollution).

At the end of the day, you can find a cheaper and quieter place if you are willing to walk 10 minutes from the core of Ubud.

On the plus side, the rooms are clean, the staff is nice and friendly and the breakfast quite decent.

We spend eight nights here in total, and by far it was the best experience. Helpful, courteous and honest staff; Nyoman is a true gentleman who is most happy when his guests are!
We were most impressed with the room, simple but most adequate; safe box, air con, mossie nets, lovely clean and well appointed bathroom, bath slippers, great pool and a lovely breakfast (included in the price).
If you want somewhere affordable and charming to base yourself at while in Ubud, this is the place to do it!
Of course, as with any stay in a foreign country, keep your valuables either on you or in the safe (and make sure you change the passkey to the safe on arrival so that you are the only one to know the code)... Nobody but you is responsible for your belongings!

Room Tip: Be prepared to haggle a bit on the price!!

We stayed here for two nights when we first arrived in Bali, travelling with a 5 & 7 year old, we couldn't have asked for better service. The staff were helpful, accomodating and polite. Nothing was a problem. It was a quiet, peaceful place to stay. The pool area was relaxing and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Close to everything but hidden down a short drive way, very convenient. We were upgraded to a deluxe room, bathroom was relatively big, safe in the room. Our 7 year old felt like a Princess with the mosquito nets draped around her when she went to bed!!

Room Tip: Be nice

Please be careful at this hotel! This is what happened to us: We checked in in the afternoon, talked to the staff and one of them showed great interest in our camera. One of is a professional photographer so this was an expensive camera.
We went out for a quick dinner around eight pm and went back about one and a half hour later. Then two cameras was gone from our room. So was the lap top. Professional equipment for about 25 000 US dollar was stolen. The hotel room was locked from outside by us and the lock and the door showed no sign of burglary we we came back.
The staff refused to call the police, refused to help us find the phone number to the police and told us that we brought the camera with us when we went for dinner, which we didn´t.
We had to call the police ourselves. When the police arrived the staff accused us of lying and told the police that we brought the cameras with us when we went out.

Stayed at this place for four nights and it was really nice, the staff were very friendly though all male (no female staff). Breakfast was basic but nice. Very nice and clean swimming pool, lovely garden and the location is perfect right in the middle of Jalan Monkey Forest. You can get good prices if you do a bit or bargaining like everything else in Bali.

They could do better with the cleanliness of the toilet but otherwise it was great, the rooms are a bit dark but I only slept there and didn't spend much time during the day and they have a balcony with chairs that you can sit and enjoy.

They have their own massage place which is right next to the reception and you can get 10% discount getting a massage there but I had a foot massage at the main entrance which is not affiliated with the hotel and it was the best foot massage I have ever had. It was a lady who had magic hands and my feet felt light and soft after wards, highly recommend it.

We stumbled across this place by accident as our first/second choice was unavailable. We really only wanted a cheap comfortable place to stay while we did some shopping and sight seeing around Ubud. Was not too sure about it at first but it turned out to be a great little place. Excellent location-could not be better-lovely small gardens, every room had a little balcony area, great pool and the rooms were fine for what we wanted. Bath rooms were big and clean. Breakfast was basic but acceptable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. No restaurant or room service but the place is surrounded by top places to eat. What you see is what you get with this place.
TV with loads of channels. Quiet at night. They booked us an Eco bike tour which was fantastic and hooked us up with a driver who spoke excellent English and had a great sense of humor. Try and barter the room rate down and you will have a bargain place to stay! We would stay there again if it suited our needs.
