“What can I say, we are definitely coming back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2014

We had spent the first two days of our family vacation in another resort prior to Villa Santun. Upon arrival at VS (if I could endearingly call the villa so), we were greeted by the warm staff and the paddy fields just as the pictures promised. The staff were delightful and great with both my children, 2yo & 7yo. The villa was clean and in-villa breakfast at our preferred timing is a treat. The bathroom is luxe and very big (and I do mean HUGE).

The chef was most accommodating and cooked my fussy tot porridge for lunch and dinner. We even had a packed lunch from the villa's kitchen for the kiddo on one day when we wanted to be more adventurous and try local dishes in town.

The family unanimously agreed that this villa is five-star and we were already checking out the four-bedroom villa for our next family trip before we actually check-out.

My 7yo says "I enjoyed staying in the villa as the place is very big and I can see cow and chickens at the paddy field." My 2yo loves the transfer on the buggy and kept asking to leave the villa.

The villa isn't at all a far walk to the main street but the buggy makes it very convenient. There is also a free shuttle service to Ubud Town at specific hourly intervals. But should you wish to leave when the free shuttle isn't available, the front desk can arrange for a car for a reasonable fee.

Now comes the eventful part of the trip: we discovered we lost a mobile phone when we reached Denpasar Airport! All our pictures are taken on the phone and thinking that it will all be gone was enough to make my kid tear. We tried to search for the phone in the airport but to no avail. Just as we were resigned to having lost the phone, I thought we could call VS and ask if they could help us locate the missing mobile when we reached home (we were clueless where could we have possibly dropped the mobile). The VS staff promptly agreed to help search when we called them before we board our flight home. The best news upon reaching home was that they had found our mobile !

To everyone at VS, we are very thankful I hope it won't be long till we are back !

Everything about this villa was wonderful. The rooms are huge and are complimented by a great outdoor dining and lounge area and private pool. The staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you. We had a bit of trouble finding the place as it's quite new and the cab driver had to stop and ask directions. It's out of ubud central, but not far in the shuttle, 10 min. There are however a few restaurants and shops for basic supplies within walking distance from the villa. There are complementary yoga and meditation classes that we didn't attend as we were sleeping in! We tried a few of the in house meals and found them to be reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this villa.

Our second visit to Ubud ......,.the weather was perfect we managed to miss the humidity of the later months.
Villa Santun is beside the resort we stayed in last year that wasn't available
Last year it wasn't even built.
We loved our one week stay in a sacred valley one room villa...the staff although mainly very young couldn't do enough to help and are all very proud of their resort.
Breakfast is served on the verandah of your villa each day .
They run yoga and meditation at different times by a very nice young man named Dewa who was very patient with novices
Villa Santun is in quite a remote area probably about 5 Kim's from the centre of Ubud if we had one problem it was the shuttle bus.....it seemed to be run on a bit of and ad hoc basis and frequently was either very late or didn't come at all. That would not be a problem normally because taxis are very cheap but most drivers don't know where it is and when they drop you off on the main road it is quite a walk(and quite dark) to get to Villa Santun.
That being said we had wonderful time and would highly recommend this resort to anyone thinking of staying there.

Room Tip: Our first 2 nights were in villa no 4 that seemed to be beside a village square and it was quite noi...

We booked a one bed villa with private pool via booking.com. I could not find many reviews online at the time as it was only 4 months old.

The hotel is in a great location - roughly 5 minutes drive from ubud centre. Its is a little difficult for taxi drivers to find as they have to park on the main road and a buggy comes to collect you and take you to the hotel in the rice fields. However, the search is definitely worth it as the rice field views are beautiful! (I would recommend taking the hotel contact details with you in case you get lost)

Once we arrived at the hotel we were welcomed by the lovely staff who showed us to our room. The room had a decent sized plunge pool and all of the facilities were in excellent condition. The bathroom had an outdoor element but the whole room including the pool was very private.

On the second day we were upgraded to the vacant 4 bedroom king villa with infinity pool FREE OF CHARGE as we were celebrating a special occasion and it was the quiet season in bali. This villa was the most amazing place we have ever stayed at!!! It contained a large outdoor kitchen, dining and seating area and a huge infinity pool overlooking the rice fields. I would recommend this villa to any family or group of friends travelling to Bali.

The breakfast was brilliant with the chef making whatever you required at any time you required and delivering it to your room. They even were attentive enough to understand your preferences and ensure you had the correct condiments without asking for them.

The staff are a real credit to the hotel as they have excellent communication skills and are always willing to help you with any request. We really felt that our custom was valued here.

I cannot think of any negative points for this hotel and would most definitely stay there if travelling to Bali again.

Room Tip: If you are celebrating a special occasion, make the staff aware as they will ensure you get special...

The hotel itself is marvelous, with nice rice field view and worth the price (especially price in off-season). I would undoubtedly recommend this hotel to all. However, there are a few things the hotels could improve:

1) We booked the simplest One Bedroom with Private Garden and Pool Villa, and were upgrade to Four Bedroom Ricefield View Royal Villa without notification. Of course it is a great deal for us, but it would be better if Villa Santun can show us our original room and let us make our own decision. Although this may seem superfluous, I would say it shows respect to the guests.

2) Timetable of free shuttles is unreasonable. Since the scheduled last shuttle back from Ubud central is 5 pm, it basically takes away two-way free shuttle service. And as the villa is difficult to access, it does not make sense to take taxi back from Ubud (especially when finding a taxi in Ubud is uneasy). At least one or two shuttle back to the villa from Ubud at late evening is necessary.

3) Training of the service personnel needs improvement as well. We ordered two sets of breakfast, but it did not come correctly, which is a bit annoying. Overall, communication between the staff and the guests is not perfectly good.

Room Tip: Email the staff directly for more information about the room. Four Bedroom Ricefield View Royal Vil...

Dear Valued Guest,

Warm Greetings from Villa Santun. I trust this note finds you well.
I am happy to know that you enjoyed your stayed in our Villa, although there were some inconvenience feelings happened between. Please allow me to explain some notes which you wrote.
1. In the beginning, we considered you as our special guest, so that we prepared to upgrade you to experience our best villa. As you know, our four bedrooms Villa has 17 Meters times 6 Meters swimming pool, which you could use privately. Also the magnificent view of ricefields in front of it, which is undoubtedly became most favorite people who are coming and staying in Ubud. We could not show you the original room, because since we decided to upgrade your room, we release your original room for other guest to stay in.
2. Our Schedule shuttle is at 10AM, 11AM, 3PM, 4PM, and 5PM. These are the normal our of mostly hotel or villa in Ubud area to provide the shuttle service. Some of them even provide 3 times in a day. Considering that our property is not so big, so we set the timing as similar as possible with the big resorts around the area. Also, as you know that our drivers also doing turn down service in the evening. This is to make the staff efficient, so we do not need to hire more people which could made the price for the guest higher.
3. It was our truly mistakes upon took down your breakfast order and while serving. We are now changing the concept to take the Breakfast order to avoid the same thing happen.

Once again our deeply apologize for any inconvenience happen. We will try to provide better service from time to time in future. We are also hoping to welcome you back again, and experience our developed service.

With Warmest Heart,

Giant

I was looking for a place to celebrate our wedding anniversary and have to say this was the perfect choice and will be too for anyone looking for a place to stay that has everything.

After reading the many great reviews, I was kind of apprehensive to go with such raised expectations that could only be disappointed. Not this time though. My expectations were in fact exceeded. Due to the timing of online bookings, our original single sacred valley villa booked was filled but they upgraded us to the 4 room villa which faced the rice fields. The view of the rice fields are sublime and you get the lovely sunrise over the fields and Mt Agung in the distant in the mornings. Giant (the Manager) offered us the continued use of the 4 room villa for the duration of our 3 day stay but we opted for the more private sacred valley villa the next 2 days of our stay as there was only the 2 of us and we wanted the privacy of the smaller villa. Needless to say we appreciated staying at the bigger Royal villa for the day and even had a 1 hr complimentary massage thrown in to compensate for not having the original villa we booked initially. We extended this to a 2 hour massage at our own cost at the end of our stay which was the perfect way to ready ourselves for the trip home.

The rooms and amenities within, pool and outdoor furnishings, etc are top notch and new. Well maintained and superbly clean. Sitting outdoors in the evenings by the pool, we did not see a single mosquito despite the surrounding rice fields and vegetation. Breakfast is served each morning according to your choice on a list selected the night before and always in the privacy of your villa.

Separate mention has to be made for the staff here. There is a difference between excellent service and hospitality and we experienced both. The experience with the staff here was not just them making sure we had everything we expected but anticipating and making us feel welcome always as how you would treat a guest you are fond of in your own home. It must not be easy doing this day in and day out but credit to the team at Villa Santun for providing an experience that can only come through passion. Special mention and thanks to Giant for setting the tone for the team, and to all the staff, Tina, Ulam, Wayan, Anasur, and the rest who were on the day and night shifts while we were there. We definitely hope to come back there again in future.

Room Tip: The Royal 4 room villa has the best views, i.e. of the rice fields and its therapeutic to watch the...
