Melati Cottages
Ranked #247 of 622 Specialty Lodging in Ubud

It's been six weeks since I left the Melati Cottages and I can't wait to return someday. I was in Ubud as part of a group studying shadow puppetry and mask carving, and we used Melati as our "home" for four weeks. The rooms, the GROUNDs, the staff...the wonderful banana pancakes...all made for a wonderful experience. Our room, number 4, was my favorite of all that I saw. Our veranda was perfect for early morning or late afternoon reading...the surrounding grounds were lush and groomed daily. The bathrooms, while older, were fine and clean, as was everything. I would like better lighting in both the main room and the bathroom, however, it was adequate. The daily breakfast was healthy and tasty. I loved the omelets and banana pancakes...and the early coffee was a welcome treat. The best thing abuot Melati is the staff ...it truly is a family and they treat each guest as a cherished family member. And if you go, be sure to ask for Gedur as your driver and let him plan your day...you will be in for a treat! After leaving Melati, I stayed a week at another MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE property in Ubud, but preferred the Melati in every aspect!

Room Tip: Some rooms are air conditioned, so be sure to ask beforehand. Ours was fan cooled, and with the exc...

It is no secret that I absolutely love Melati Cottages- the surroundings, the people who work there, and the numerous guests I have met in my twenty years of staying at Melati. The rooms are HUGE...and the verandas/balconies to die for in busy Ubud. The food is basic, yet there are so many lovely little warungs (small restaurants) which have cropped over the years, one will never, ever go hungry! You must try Bubu's, Lala/Lily's, Made's, Yellow Flower...all a very short walk from Melati. The spas in the neighborhood are great...Eve, Sedona, and my favorite...Cantika. The price is always right and the staff will go out of their way to make your stay so memorable that you will want to return..again and again. I never hesitate to recommend Melati Cottages to my friends and family. Cheers!

I've stayed many times at Melati Cottages over the last few years and was there again recently. I just love it! Warm and friendly people, lovely location, and the best breakfasts ever.

Room Tip: I don't like air-con, but there are some air-con rooms. Choose a room next to the kitchen area i...

The setting is stunning, the staff are so lovely- typical Balinese.
The rooms are certainly dated but there is such a charm about them. You feel like a princess in the canopy bed. The gardens were lovely, set in the rice padis. The lanes and paths around the Cottages are entrancing and so much fun to explore.
However, there is no fridge- the only downfall!
No spa, room service or fitness centre- not that type of accomodation.

Room Tip: All rooms are eaqually charming. Ask for a fridge.
