We spend three days in this hotel and were totally in love with it!!
Its gardens are beautiful, pools nice and clean and kids friendly (we were there with our 2year old and 9month old), the rooms are huge, nice, and clean, the staff is also great and friendly, breakfasts are nice, and all together we really enjoyed our stay here. It is a calm place, inexpensive, close to the center, and just lovely in every sense.
We went to Nusa Dua to another hotel afterwards and regretted it; we would have gone back to Kori, but we payed for the second hotel in advance.
Anyway, Ubud is sooooo cute and it gives you such a good and happy vibe! All the little restaurants we visited had very good food and we just felt so welcome and warm wherever we went.

Anyways, we had a great stay in Ubud and would definitely highly recommend it to everyone.

I stayed at the Kori Ubud for a week at the start of October 2012 - to attend the Bali Writers and Readers Festival which is held annually at this time in Ubud. If you wish to go to the Festival, this is absolutely the hotel for you - not uber-expensive, extremely well situated in the middle of many Festival events, close to the Neka Museum, Mozaic restaurant (French inspired, Asian infused and an award winner - simply stunning). It is also a walk away from Indus and the food/craft market set up for the Festival.

The hotel is north of the main centre of Ubud - on the main road - there are about 10 places to eat a short walk north from the hotel, but there is more choice in the main centre of Ubud - not an issue though when the taxi's park directly outside the hotel and charge so little by comparison with Australia. Basically it costs $2.50 Australian $ to travel anywhere buy taxi in Ubud. Nearby restaurants include Japanese (several choices), pizza/Italian, Mexican with an Indonesian twist and a grill incl. Aussie steak.

We arrived late at night from Australia - this did not present a problem - reception staff were waiting with a welcome fruit juice, and we were shown to our rooms with the porters carrying our bags. The doors are ornate double wooden doors with a padlock around the lock - to lock from the inside, you place a piece of wood made for the purpose, between the handles - if this isn't shown to you it can take a moment to work out what the wood is for - similarly, the keys also lock the sliding wooden doors which in our case led to our own private gardens overlooking the river below. I had a few drama's with the key so didn't sleep that well as it wasn't until the next day I managed to jiggle the key in the lock with the benefit of the daylight to work out the idiosyncrasies of the lock.

I had a KS bed (2 KS singles put together but without an obvious crack down the middle of the bed) - simply enormous and extremely comfortable - the bed was hard (which I liked) and there were plenty of pillows.

Staff provided an electric mosquito zapper in every room and turned them on in the early evening. They also light mosquito coils at the entry to each room. The room had a flat screen TV (not many English speaking programs but I didn't care as I wasn't there to watch the TV!). There is a very effective air conditioner, which was a delight as coming back to the room after a hot day became a really enjoyable thing. Each room has a small fridge (great for stocking up on mixers for duty free, but also for drinks/cheeses etc purchased at one of 2 supermarkets just down the road from the hotel (10-15 minute walk or a cheap taxi ride away), on the same side of the road as the hotel.

The rooms are absolutely huge - they were as big as a lounge and kitchen area, and the bathroom was also big. This is where the suitcases are placed on a luggage rack. There is a cupboard in the bathroom for clothes, which is stocked with robes and slippers, and the bathroom has a small hairdryer. Each day staff replenish the rooms with 2 bottles of water - again a really welcome touch. Fresh frangipanis are added to the room and sometimes scattered over the bed linen. The shower is actually 1.5 showers in size. There is also a deep marble bath and bubble bath to use at leisure.

The staff were unfailingly polite. Breakfast is more than adequate - not the same standard as a 5 star hotel - but quite a few Western and Indonesian choices and cooked to order. There is a safe deposit box available at the front desk - it is a $100 fee if you lose the key so ensure you kleep it safe! I would stay at this hotel again - the pool was fabulous and clean - there are a few sunbeds around the pool and it is two-tired with a waterfall effect which is quite relaxing. My suggestions to travellers are:

1. BYO clothesline - to hang up in the garden area as it is so humid you will be washing clothes (or pay for the hotel to arrange laundry)
2. BYO rubber plug cover (opt for the flat one that you can buy at decent hardware stores as they fit over any sized plug hole)
3. BYO ipad if you have one - the reason I gave the hotel 4 stars not 5 is because there is only 1 computer for guests to use and it is extremely small - about the size of a 3/4 iPad - access was not 100% reliable - but not to worry!
4. BYO a small torch to use at night - to negotiate the uneven pavement enrolee to dinner and also to negotiate several sets of stairs leading from the front of the hotel to the rooms

Room Tip: We opted for the cheaper garden rooms and were not disappointed - save your money - and spend it on...

We stayed here for 1 night before heading back to Seminyak. It was a nice enough hotel, staff friendly enough. Our room was fine, balcony (I have to say looked quite dirty and needed a sweep and clean) bed and size of room good, nice bathroom. It had what a room needed! Not sure it was quite worth the price but that's my personal opinion. The pool was nice, I liked it and we did some basking there, there was also a spa/ mani/pedicure place which looked good too. The breakfast was fine, and there is WI FI in the dining area. Nice location for us as we had a scooter.

We were enjoying this beautiful hotel with amazing gardens and food....UNTIL.....we went out for a tour yesterday and we came back in the afternoon we realized our computer was stolen......went to the police with the manager and the next day I asked him what was the update on the case(given that his employees were being interrogated) and he said I could go myself. Knowing that the police does not speak English......I think his attitude was a disgrace!!,,,,,

ALso we were first put in a room with no security.....doors did not close properly and with walls that could be easily jumped!,,,,,.AVOiD This place!,,,,,

We booked 2 rooms for 3 nights and they gave us a Villa, which comes with a private pool. Surrounded by tree and birds while u soak in the pool was an out of the world experience. Only disappointment is one hair dryer was taken away from 1 of our room on the 2nd day and upon check-out, we are asked about it. Overall good experience and nice stay.

This very affordable hotel has beautifully maintained, and culturally authentic grounds. The rooms are basic, but functional. They are air conditioned and therefore enclosed, but we still felt we had better peace of mind by using the mosquito net on the canopy bed. (No bites!) The bathroom is open to the outside air via a screened opening. The food was basic and adequate- not gourmet but a great value for the money. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a free shuttle into the heart of Ubud several times per day, or you can opt to pay 350K IDR (about $3.50 USD) for an unscheduled ride. We found it easy to catch a taxi back to the hotel for about the same price. Beware of "taxi" vendors on street who do not appear to have a vehicle nearby.

Our room was close to the main road and we could hear traffic noise- but Ubud is a sleepy town and the noise doesn't last into the late night.

We planned on staying in Kori for 2 nights but had to extend it to 4 nights because we were so impressed by the hotel. My partner and I were upgraded to room 501 which was the deluxe villa. It was stunning, so much room and a really comfy bed. We had our own garden and a view of the rice paddies across the river. The hotel provides regular transport to Ubud township which saves the bother of organising a taxi. The breakfast is varied and leaves you full until lunch. The restaurant is a little on the pricey side so I would recommend to take a walk out the hotel to the numerous restaurants on Senggigan Rd. The Spa is also on the expensive side but there is a great place for massages next door which are half the price. Everyday our room was left spotless by the friendly staff. The pool was cleaned and the gardens are beautifully maintained. It is a paradise.

Room Tip: I think any room in this hotel is lovely.
