“romantic stay in Ubud”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

This hotel is located on the most famous road of Ubud: Monkey Forest Road. Yet, in the different small buildings you can hear absolutely no noise from the traffic on the street. We stayed in a secluded villa with a private pool. The room was gorgeous, so was the patio: with a small pond with koi, a comfortable sofa to sit outside to enjoy the small garden, and a small private pool. The hotel also has a bigger swimming pool open for all guests. Unfortunately the water in the pools is a little bit too cold.
The room was absolutely fantastic, with a very good bed, sweets and drinks waiting for us at our arrival. Enough towels to use for swimming and for bathing in a luxurious bathroom, with all amenities available, and for rainy days even umbrellas were foreseen. An excellent hotel with a good choice of breakfasts, staff very friendly and the manager interested in the well-being of his guests. The villas are surrounded by well kept gardens.
When staying in this hotel, make sure to eat at least once in Wayan's cafe (a little bit further down Monkey Forrest Road), enjoy the many shops on this road and of course do not forget the Monkey Forrest itself: go early, before the buses with tourists arrive. We stayed in this hotel for 3 days, as our base to visit the south of Bali.

Room Tip: Although not cheap, sleeping in a private villa means you are not disturbed by street and/or bars an...

Recently spent two nights in the 2 bedroom villa. As there was just two of us the second floor was locked and we did not use it. The room was huge and nicely decorated and felt very secluded from the rest of the property and the main road. It felt like we were staying in jungle surroundings. Gorgeous. The pool was small but great for cooling off. It was so nice to not share! There was also a daybed for lazing around outdoors but in the shade. The staff were friendly and the room service food was delicious. Our only surprise was that this villa is not private. There is a temple at the back of the property and staff may come past the pool area at anytime. Also they may come by to clean the pool area so my tip is if you prefer full privacy this villa is not for you.

We stayed in Barong for 10 nights, in a deluxe room (no. 8). Location is great, right on Monkey Forest Road so well within walking distance of great restaurants, shopping, and sights. Small hotel with very good services: breakfasts as light or as hearty as you might want; room spacious; nice sitting out area; good, reasonably priced minibar; free fresh fruit and water topped up twice a day; cookies or peanuts with the turn down service. It was our wedding anniversary during our stay, and the bed was decorated with flower petals in a heart shape, the bath filled with flower petals, and red roses in one of the vases - lovely touches. The pool is small with only four beds, so, if you are intending to lounge by the pool, you may find that you have been beaten to it (my only complaint about the hotel would be the lack of poolside towels when the pool has been busy).

Right on Monkey Road, this is in a great location. 5 mins walk to Monkey Forest and amongst some good restaurants & bars.

Bed was comfy, quiet, AC was more than adequate, bathroom was huge, fully tiled, massive bath. Can't really complain about this place.

We decided to stay at the Barong Resort and Spa in Ubud. We had a great time!!! We rented a villa with a private pool. The rooms were clean, private, and the staff were courteous and attentive.

I would love to return and stay at this resort. The best part of the resort it is private enough from the very, very touristy Jalan Monkey Forest Road so you can have a bit of solitude. I wouldn't mind if this resort were located a little further outside "downtown" Ubud.

We stayed for 4 nights in September at Barong Resort and Spa. I couldn't have been happier with the location and the accommodations. The location is smack in the middle of Monkey Forrest Rd and was perfect for walking to restaurants and shops. You could easily walk (10 - 15 min) to the Ubud market on one end of the street and then Monkey Forrest on the other. The grounds themselves were lush and very nicely kept and it was a nice walk back to the rooms.

Our room has a private patio where you could choose to have your breakfast delivered at a specific time if you called ahead and the patio was great hanging around in the evening before going out. The room itself was nice and large and they seemed to have paid attention to lots of details like having fresh flowers in the room and daily fruit and snacks. There is also a mini bar in the room as well that was nicely stocked. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very large and well appointed.

The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good and the portions quiet large. We didnt eat in the restaurant for any other meals since Ubud has so many options to choose from but breakfast was very delicious.

I really liked the choice we made to stay at Barong and would stay there again if I ever have the chance!

The three of us, including our 7 months baby, could find a peaceful place in busy Ubud. The hotel is beautifully decorated and entirely reflects the beauty of the balinese architecture and style.
The pool villa where we stayed made us feel at home and offered total privacy.

The service was excellent and particularly friendly and discreet at the same time and the manager and the staff made it all to satisfy our requests and helped a lot with the baby showing a lot of flexibility.

The breakfast is a la carte and good, and set up in a peaceful al fresco just in front of the main road.

We did not have the time to try the SPA but it looked inspiring.

If back to Ubud we will no doubt go back there.

Room Tip: There is no fitness gym but a nice pool
