“Komaneka Bliss”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

This is our last day at Komaneka at Tanggayuda and I don't want to leave. Our five night stay has been pure bliss. From the moment we were picked from the airport, I knew I had chosen well. The location is wonderful, tucked away in Tanggayuda village- this is the real Bali.
The service is absolutely outstanding, the staff call you by name and nothing is too much trouble. They are very gracious and their hospitality is geniune and unpretentious.
We are staying in a valley pool villa 116, and even though I am told, the resort is near capacity, I feel we are the only ones here.
Our plunge pool and cabana look over the beautiful forest and you can hear the faint rush of water from the river below.
The frequent shuttle services into Ubud is an amazing service . The drivers make sure you are collected from Ubud town safely , especially at night.
If you want a place to recharge your battery, be pampered and to ponder the peaceful nature of the beautiful Balinese people, this is the place for you. This is the true Bali.
To ALL the beautiful staff at Komaneka, Ibu Catherine and Babal Tony thank you for a wonderful five days.
We are already planning our return trip next year.Thankyou so much!

You know how that Beetles song goes? "1,2,3,4,5,6,7, all stays at Komaneka are glimpses of heaven". Well, Komaneka wasn't built back then, otherwise that's what the lyrics would have been. When we heard 2 weeks ago that "our" new villa was finished being built, we immediately booked flights and holidays so that we could be the first to christen the new Premier villas. They are absolutely superb - lighter and brighter with an amazing view out over the dense tropical jungle towards the paddy fields. We had watched their progress over our last 3 visits, enjoying seeing how a dream could develop into such a breathtaking reality.
Once again we were delighted to be welcomed from the moment we arrived at the airport and then by all of the staff at the resort. It is as if we were much-loved family returning home, so nothing has changed there, happily. Meeting with the owner the other night, I realised that the Komaneka resorts have been built by a man with incredible vision. He understands the beauty and peace of the natural surroundings here and incorporates nature within the resort (for example, trees grow through the decking of the main restaurant, and when complete, diners will be able to sit and enjoy the view, experiencing the sounds of the nearby Oss River, with little to inhibit their view). Mr Koman understands the crucial importance of privacy and tranquility and sure enough, within just a day back here, we felt more at peace and in-tune with each other. We also had the beautiful experience of being included in the family ceremony celebrations at Mr Koman's home. A very memorable day where we were able to experience another element of the Balinese tradition, were introduced to other family members and made to feel included in all that was going on. Thank you to Kande for taking time out of his own free day to take us trekking and discovering new parts of rural Ubud including the new walk trail; to Unanti for the most wonderful massage and care; and to Yutami for always making sure that we have everything we need and that we have a 'smile on our face'. Thank you to absolutely EVERYONE, for going out of your way with so many small gestures of love and kindness and making our time once again at Komaneka, remarkably special.
Usually I write my review when I am home once again and our trip is all over :( I'm really happy to say that this time we have more than half our time here left here in beautiful Komaneka, our indulgent home away from home!!!

Room Tip: Top deck villas have warmer pools.

We stayed at the Komaneka at Tanggayuda in April 2013 for our honeymoon and it was amazing! The room is spacious and well decorated. We were surprised by the beautiful flowers on our bed and in our tub upon arrival. It seemed everyone knew our name and took the time to find out how our day was. The breakfast is included as well as an afternoon tea. The also took the trekking tour and the cooking class and were very happy with both. I only wish we would have stayed longer, 3 nights in Ubud is not enough!

We had a villa and did not see the hotel rooms so comments relate only to the Villa we were in 124 Pool villa. If you are after a quiet, peaceful relaxing holiday and want to feel like a VIP this is the place! The staff are amazing and everyone from the garden staff to the reception staff were so friendly. The shuttle to town was easy to use and we liked being away from the busyness of town. I did heaps of research before booking online. I really wanted to make our holiday perfect. I was More than pleased with my choice. The photos on line were great but I felt when I arrived they did not do it justice. The whole place is just beautiful. We enjoyed the food and breakfast was particularly nice not to have to eat from a banquet style. They will basically cook you what ever you like. We even tried to tip the car driver but he said no it was all part of the service. Perfect and worthy of an excellent review!

Superb!

I only have one word to describe this place.
From arrival to departure, the staff are always nice.

The room was soooo beautiful. I booked premier valley pool villa. Bathroom, bedroom, are very nice. One problem was just the pool. They have some chemical in the water to control the acidity of the water, but it's really bad for the skin.. My husband's skin got irritated because of it.

Besides that, the rest was awesomely beautiful. The cookies (i love the cookies so much), the room arrangement, the breakfast menu ( they made us a breakfast menu with our name on top of it)...

Really want to go back to this place.

Please fix the quality of your water in the pool.

We visited Komaeka in August 2011 for our honeymoon after spending a week in Seminyak. We felt like we were in paradise in our villa in Seminyak and were a little bit worried about going up top Ubud - but shouldn't have been!

We felt like we were in paradise, stunning views of the rice paddies from our villa and the perfect place to just chill. There are beautiful views from the infinity pool and you can just laze the day away.

Ever day you were given a little balinese story or legend in your room so you could learn about the island.

The staff are simply wonderful and we felt like we were part of the family. We even cried when we left. The staff are so friendly and just want to talk to you and find out more about you and called us by our first names ever day. They also helped us book up trips such as kayaking, elephants, and quad biking (although this was a little scary!! but great views!!)

The staff aso helped my husband organise a suprise dinner in our villa on the last night. We attended the dance bbq and the manager told us to go back to our room for an "emergency" which he had planned with my husband but I had no idea. Thye only had about 30mins before we went back but the vill ahad been tansformed. We went back and they had put on beautiful music, lots of candles all up the stairs and around our pool and the whole pool was full of petals. Its looked like a completey different place and a lovely suprise! The meal the staff served to us in our villa was really yummy would recommend the in villa priovate dining to anyone.

Although the resort may be a little bit away from the centre of Ubud, the hotel will efficently transport you down and back into the centre of Ubud for free.

Whilst we stayed at the villa we took the cooking lesson with the onsite chef. He took us down to the market early in the mkorning to buy local produce and sample some local delicacies. He then took us back to the cooking hut where he taught just the two of us how to prepare a beautiful authentic balinese meal. He grows lots of fruit, begetable and spices in his garden and tells you all about them. He even chopped down and gave us a drink from a coconut. As a souvenier we were given a beautiful menu and an appron with our name sewn on it.

I couldn't recommend this hotel enough, as I said we both cried when we left (never happened before) and I really hope we get to go back here sometime soon. Just perfect!!

We visited the Komaneka for the second week of our honeymoon and I can honestly say I have never experienced service like it. Upon arrival the hotel manager greeted us and could not have been more helpful. The resort itself is beautiful and the villas are beautifully decorated with luxury furnishings but still keeping with the true Balinese theme. The outdoor space was great and the plunge pool was lovely.
Whilst at the hotel we made the most of the activities on offer including a bike tour early morning which was really good fun and a great opportunity to see the real Bali. We also took advantage of the cooking lesson with the head chef and used the spa facilities which acted as a truly relaxing end to our holiday. I would strongly recommend the Komaneka at Tanggayuda and we hope to go back very soon.
