“Like heaven...wouldn't change it for anything else in Bali”
Reviewed March 16, 2014 via mobile

I stayed here with my partner while on a tour of luxury villas in Asia. I wouldn't trade KajaNe's sense of place for anything else in Bali. Notwithstanding the fact that we both saw probably all of the best luxury offerings around Bali, this place fits all corners. The staff is fab and the place feels like home in heaven!

My old school friend and I stayed for 4 days and we wished we never had to leave. If you like a hotel that covers everything, from rose petals on your bed and flowers daily in your room, coupled with your own private pool than this is the place for you.
We were served a comprehensive breakfast, what ever we chose on our balcony each morning and afternoon tea every day. We had our own driver into central Ubud during our stay,
The room was serviced twice a day with turn down service. Any request was fulfilled within 5 - 10 minutes. The little extra comforts included dvds, mosquito coils, floating pool beds, mosquito nets over our beds and a beautiful garden all over the hotel.
The restaurant was value for money especially with daily happy hour and last but not least the staff were incredibly friendly, happy and helpful.

Room Tip: We stayed in the private villas at the front of the hotel on the ground, so easy access to grounds...

Ubud is amazing. Set in the mountains, the monkey forest is just a few minutes walk down the hill from the KajaNe.

The rating here reflects the accommodation appropriateness (we had a one bedroom pool villa) for us travelling as a couple with our 2 year old son.

As a couple or older family, this accommodation is excellent, and You can read the countless other reviews confirming this, which I do not disagree with.

The villa was charming, the pool beautiful, the staff could not help enough. The free car service is very useful should you want to travel a little further afield for dinner or to visit the temple without getting too hot.

The site is inappropriate for those needing to use a pushchair or wheel chair. The main path in has had steps removed, but our villa had steps upto the entrance gate as well, which were steep.

The villa is designed with an open plan living and bathroom space on the ground floor, together with an amazing pool. When I say open plan, it really is 'open', with no side walls. While quaint and rustic, this creates a few issues;
1) there are a lot of mozzies. Being open plan you are reliant on the burning coil to keep them at bay after dark, and not all are a fan of the smell this generates ( pregnant wife such a person)
2) The only space to keep your clothes/suitcases is in the bathroom, which is open the the elements behind the living space. It is humid in the tropics, so clothes start to feel damp, and the mozzies like to take up home in them. Not good when you put them on.
3) the bath is on the edge of the bathroom next to the garden. Beautiful, and big enough for the whole family, unfortunately ours was overlooked by builders on the neighbouring plot. While we were not honeymooning with our son with us, the builders were happy to watch us chatting and waved at us a lot ???
4) the bedroom is on the first floor. The steps up are steep for any young child, and slate edged. The walls are natural wood, and there are gaps (big enough to put a coin in)between the panels. The aircon is new and good at keeping cool, but insect friends are prevalent. There is a mozzie net over the huge bed, both pretty and effective, but unless you want to share the bed with your child, they are at risk of attack elsewhere in the room We have a mini tent style travel cot, which doubles as a mozzie net, and our son was still eaten alive.
5) the bathroom off the bedroom is outside. A simple toilet and basin. Leaving the safety of the mozzie net covered bed to use the toilet in the night results in more itchy red bumps.

Ubud is fantastic, but we won't be back to the Kajane for at least 5 years, and I'll be reading up here and phoning the local team to ask specific q's regarding the style of the 2 bed villas before booking here again.

My dad and I stayed for 5 nights and I wish it had been 5 weeks. Ubud was a great base location and the hotel itself was lovely. The staff couldn't do enough for us, and we ate in the hotel half the time as the food was excellent and good value. It was such a relaxing atmosphere, with a private balcony to each room, with a good view.

The only minor issue were the stairs as we were on the 3rd floor. My dad was a little unsteady on his feet so they need better handrails. Putting a step inside the bathroom though stylish (black tile) is a little dangerous when you get up in the middle of the night.

Room Tip: Third floor or 4th floor for the view. Second floor if you struggle with stairs.

It is a very good hotel. The location is the best. The service is the best.I can not expect more.It takes 8 mins to reach the monkey forest. Also 8 mins to go to the Ubud palace on foot.So many bars restaurants around the hotel. The room is so big with nice decorations.I like the balcony with small table and chairs.I could totally relax when I drank coffee or tea there.Bathroom is so impressive, very special. When I arrived at my room, the hotel staff served welcome drinks and snacks immediately.Very good taste(coconut juice and banana).Iced towls also served at the same time.I stayed in the hotel for two nights. When I checked out,the receptionist gave me a handmade wallet as a gift.Nice and unforgettable stay.

Stayed here for three nights in late January, and had a wonderful experience.

The villa itself was spacious with a modern looking pool (I understand that some of the villas are older so be sure to check with the staff which villa they are giving you). Location is good, right on Monkey Forest road but deep enough to be quiet. You can walk out of the hotel and have easy access to a variety of restaurants and cafes.

Service was great, they have a car that they can use to send you to anywhere within Ubud. Staff are polite and knowledgeable too.
