We just came back from 5 days in Ubud. I loved this hotel! We stayed here for 5 nights. The rooms are clean, spacious and well furnished. The grounds are a feast for your eyes. Breakfast has lots of yummy options. The hotel is located in good proximity to downtown Ubud (10 mins walk). I got sick with Bali belly and the hotel staff went out of their way to make me comfortable. They had a gardener cut me some fresh young coconut from a tree! How amazing is that? Thank you for making us feel so welcomed. I look forward to coming back one day

Dear Dinara2012,

Thank you very much for your review recounting your enjoyable and memorable 5-night stay at the Plataran Ubud hotel and Spa. First of all we hope that you have fully recovered from your Bali Belly which is afflicting sometimes tourists and also locals alike when consuming non- cooked snacks from the road side sellers. Therefore we are really delighted to hear that the staff could serve you with a young coconut, the traditional remedy to quickly get over your distress.

Yes, for a longer stay as yours the location of the hotel is so important to optimize your experience besides the quality of its services. That is why Plataran’s philosophy is strongly emphasizing a choice location combined with the luxury of genuine natural spaces and graceful service.

We look forward to welcoming you again in Ubud one day soon, or in any of the other exotic Plataran Hotels & Resorts; such as Plataran Canggu Resort & Spa (Bali), Plataran Borobudur Resort & Spa (#3km from the Borobudur Temple), Plataran Komodo Beach Resort and its Plataran Komodo Phinisi Vessels.

The entire team members of Plataran Ubud Hotel & Spa send you their best wishes.

I should preface this by saying we had a unique situation. We were flying to Bali on Malaysia Air, the morning after the tragedy of MH17 over the Ukraine border. Malaysian Air flights were all delayed to Bali, on top of which Bali instituted a no fly rule from midnight to 6am. Thus we were severely delayed and had to shift our entire itinerary back by a day, meaning we could only stay at the Plataran Hotel for one night instead of two. The management displayed zero sympathy and were adamant that we had to pay for both nights. Their explanation: they already subtracted the amount from my friend's credit card. Essentially, they refused to credit her card and so we had to pay. My feeling is, in extreme situations, hotel Plataran should be a bit more flexible in their policies. We showed all necessary proof and would have liked some kind of emergency consideration. But there was none to be had. For a new hotel looking to create a strong image, it would have gone a long way to display some good will towards guests traveling under extreme circumstances. Instead they went for a money grab. This truly dulled my impression of the hotel, which seemed very lovely otherwise.

Dear Greg A,

We thank you for your shortened stay at our resort.
Without any proper notice we had no option than to treat your booking as a no-show and apply the applicable non refundable industry standard on your confirmed booking on a special non-endorsable rate of much lower price of that of our regular rate.
We look forward to welcoming you back in our property in the very near future.

With kind regards,

We absolutely love this hotel. There is so much to rave about!

The hotel and rooms design are simply beautiful, and the view is so peaceful we actually keep coming back mainly for the incredible rice paddy views! The location is perfect, a short walk to inner Ubud, close to Monkey Forrest, and Yogabarn.

The food is always delicious, the rooms beautifully appointed and the staff are amazing. We can not fault the hotel, we've been back 4 times already and are bringing our family again in October.

Highly recommend staying in this beautiful hotel.

We had a lovely 4-night stay at Plataran Ubud in late July-early August. Everything about the place is charming and relaxing. We stayed in the Junior Suite which was very spacious and more than enough for our family of 2 adults and 2 children. The view from the patio was lush green and relaxing. The service throughout was excellent. We are vegetarians and the restaurant staff was able to prepare vegetarian versions of local dishes – delicious! Breakfast is served at their beautiful patio restaurant and the variety is adequate. The resort grounds are beautiful and reasonably big and a walk around it is quite refreshing. The pool and spa were also quite good. Best of all, we had taken the hotel’s car and driver-cum-guide to show us around Bali and were very satisfied with the knowledge and friendliness of the drivers.

Special thanks to Kiki at reservations who very patiently and professionally helped us with choosing the best rooms, to Wira and Oka are our drivers and all the other staff whose names we can’t remember!

Great stay and we would happily stay here again.

Room Tip: Junior Suite is great for families.

This hotel was a wonderful place to stay - we enjoyed every minute we were there. The rooms were great - the beds were sensationally comfortable, the air conditioning was incredibly effective and the views were amazing. This hotel is a superior product in every way. While close to the centre of the Ubud, the hotel is set back from the road and is incredibly quiet and peaceful. The grounds were stunning with two pools as well as containing its own temple (for real - not a fake one!) and paddy fields. The breakfast was great with the chef making the best fried eggs - while the choice of alternatives was broad and fulsome. Whilst Ubud has an abundance of good places to eat, the Patio Restaurant at the hotel accommodated our vegetarianism and was always a lovely alternative on those nights you were tired to go out and made a wonderfully light, tasty and photographable Gado Gado, My highest praise, however, goes to the staff, who could not have been more helpful. From helping me fix my mobile phone to helping us get to the sights we wanted to see, and just generally being lovely, friendly and helpful. This is a great place - go there!

Dear mtmelb,

Thank you for your fine and enthusiastic review of your stay at the Plataran Ubud Resort and Spa. We are really pleased as your guest experience avows our Plataran philosophy and what we had in mind developing the hotel that is to create a contrast with its location in the busy centre of Ubud with a great added value of the serenity of nature featuring rice paddies with a meticulous landscaping, even a temple. While we found it essential to be able to just walk out of the hotel and get a feel of the Ubud beat and to be in the midst of fine restaurants, shops, galleries and even tourist attractions as the Monkey Forest Sanctuary and be able to come home to a place of peace.

We were touched that you found the breakfast choice so well composed and your dinners to be light, tasty and photographable with many vegetarian options.

It was also a real pleasure for our staff to serve you, wishing you their best and we sincerely hope to be able to welcome you again on your next visit to our beloved Bali.

Gracefully yours,
Iwan Sitompul

Fantastic place, gentle staff, comfortable rooms, tasteful foods, wonderful spa massages (a special thanks to the ladies there). Really a great place to stay, even if you want to use this place as base stop to visit all around Bali. I would definitely return here.

Dear Ghorgo,

Thank you for your kind review of your stay at the Plataran Ubud Hotel & Spa.
As a savvy traveler you keenly noticed the unique location of the resort being the only hotel at the Hanoman Road that can pride itself to preserve and protect the serenity and the feel of the paddy amidst typical Balinese temples with all the rooms having a full open view only being surpassed by the view of the Spa on the top floor, due to its architecture. Because of its central location it is easy to explore the Ubud beyond with its many attractions. We thank you for staying with us and will convey your compliments to the staff especially those of the Spa and wish you a safe home trip and hope to welcome you again whenever you return to our beloved Bali.

I was here for a longer stay than anticipated and the staff make this hotel amazing & extremely accommodating. The rooms are great, beds are very comfortable, showers fantastic (yeah a little noise from the elevators/water pipers, but you also get the geckos at night & roosters in the morning - which is all part of Bali!) the grounds & swimming pool are great.

Food, breakfast buffet style (I think due to the hotel being fully booked) with just the right amount of choice: fruit, cereal, eggs, pastries, bread/toast, cheese, cold meat & hot plates of bacon, sausage, noodles. Lunch/dinner menu slightly more limit, but the food is good (I recommend the banana pancake, it was really good)

Location is perfect, not too close & not too far from the 3 main streets in Ubud. A shuttle is provided at times during the day to the palace at the top of town, but I personally shuttled up to the top & walked back various different.

Padma Spa is a must too, the ladies there are great & yes not as cheap as the streets for Ubud, but definitely the staff, their knowledge & experience makes this a go to place for me.

I also organised a day trip through the hotel, with their staff, seeing the different sights of Ubud, including the Elephant Cave, Volcano & Lake Batur and a traditional Balinese home, to name a few. My driver was extremely knowledgeable & suggested the best place to go, well worth waiting to go on a tour with one of the hotel drivers.

I will definitely be recommending this hotel (& sister hotels) to friends & family. This hotel is going for strength to strength, & I doubt before too long, will become a 5*

PS for yogis out there, The Yoga Barn is only a 5min walk

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs or request a room away from the elevators. Also if mo...
