“Most hospitable staff I've ever met”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2013

We stayed at Tegal Sari for two nights from August 3rd-4th, 2013. Not only is the hotel itself beautiful and well-maintained (not to mention very clean), but I think what stuck out to me most was definitely the friendliness and kindness of the staff here. All the reception staff were so helpful, and went above and beyond any expectations to help us have the best time on our trip. The driving staff were also amazing as well, and did an amazing job of taking us around Bali and giving us information on culture and which sites to see. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is interesting in staying in Ubud, Bali. You won't find a better hotel with kinder staff than this one!

Six of us stayed for three nights. Well presented, comfortable, relaxing place. Clean rooms, fans, air con, no TV, lovely swimming pool area, overlooks the rice fields. Short walk to restaurants, shopping, massages. Hotel restaurant was good and the staff are friendly and helpful. Really could not fault it, would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing time.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms, stairs to upper level a little uneven.

This was our first time at Tegal Sari - we chose it on the basis of the good reviews here, and we were not disappointed. It's not a big, fancy resort, but it has lovely rooms, a nice pool and great surrounds. The best aspects though, are the cheap and lovely food as well as the amazing staff. We are a family of five and our entire bill for the 3.5 weeks - including many meals, massages and laundry - was around $600 AUD. Incredible value. The staff are always willing to go above and beyond and they keep the place impeccably clean. We travelled with 2 small children and were never concerned about what they ate there or anything like that. We've already booked for next year.

Room Tip: We chose the super deluxe room but I looked at the very cheap standard rooms and they looked good to...

My bf and I traveled to Bali from 25-28 July but only managed to stay here for one night because the place was fully booked. It is truly amazing. It's a chalet like room and is HUGE with a balcony for u to sit and enjoy the serenity of the place and overlook a paddy field while having breakfast brought to yr doorstep. When he told me we were going to stay around a paddy field, I was a little unsure about the place thinking it would be muddy and dirty but I was very impressed by the place. The paddy fields are kept very neatly and it's just a very lovely sight. I highly recommend this place be it for a family or a couple or even a getaway with friends. Staff were very friendly, the breakfast we had was reasonable and delicious and the surroundings is breathtaking. We walked around Tegal Sari after our breakfast. There was a swimming pool, a little spa area and even a little gym area with dumb bells for ppl to work out. The staff told us that people who came to stay here will book their next visit which is a year ahead as it looks like there are very limited rooms. In short, GREAT STAY, GREAT PRICE and GREAT SERVICE. I look forward to coming back here someday.

+ location pretty convenient, 3min to store and restaurants, 3min to monkey forest
+ restaurant with good value and good food
+ airport pickup same price as taxi but reliable and nice car
+ has a pool

- WiFi free but doesn’t reach every room.
- No TV
- One day there was no hot water

We had a good stay and would recommend it. Booking several months ahead is necessary.

Room Tip: Depending on the building, getting a ground floor room means less privacy as people pass in front of...

Stayed at the Tegal Sari for 8 nights. We were in the Villas-Sarang Bambu and the Villa Sesapi upstairs.
My husband and I were in the Sarang Bambu, which is located at the very rear of the property, which is built along the length of the rice fields. Although very nice, the rear is close to the junction of Hanoman and Monkey Forest Rd and if you are a light sleeper, remember to take your ear plugs as the road noise is some what annoying. Breakfast is not included, but you can order and have in your room or go out to the Warung Semester, both are very basic, but pleasant, we only did this twice and preferred to eat at other location. My daughter stayed in a super deluxe room which had great views over the rice fields and in a quieter location in the complex, then stayed in the Villa Sesapi upstairs which is very large with TV and views overlooking the rice fields, although next door to our villa was a little quieter.
The staff are very friendly always happy and smiling and ready to accommodate your every need, our villa had a fish pond and we asked for fish food, which they kindly left for us. You can arrange a car and be dropped off practically anywhere in the Ubud centre and instead of you having to pay for a taxi back, just pop into any shop or restaurant and they will call the hotel to come and pick you up.
Note that there is some building work going on at the hotel, but noise is minimal compared to the road, with the million motorbikes.
The location is great for the Ubud centre and only a five minute walk to the bottom of the Monkey Forest Rd, if you leave by the rear entrance, turn right and at the intersection there is a great supermarket "Coco's"
Thank you to all the staff for being so friendly it was nice to meet you Terima Kasih

My boyfriend and I stayed for 6 nights at Tegal Sari, and when we think of Bali, the first thing we will think about is how amazing our stay at the hotel was (it was that good!). The staff at Tegal Sari do everything they can to make your stay absolutely perfect - everyone greets you with a smile as you walk through the grounds, the meals are delicious, they'll book any trip you can think up, post your mail for you, and make sure you never lift your bags once you arrive (or once they pick you up from the airport). The grounds are lush and gorgeous, kept very clean, and make you feel secluded even though you're only three minutes from bustling streets, restaurants, and shopping. We were in a Super Deluxe Room (#19), and the sunrise over the rice paddy fields every morning was spectacular. We cannot recommend this hotel enough, and we'll rearrange our future travel to make sure we can stay here again!
