It's always dangerous to repeat a success but we returned to the Chedi Club to spend four nights in a pool villa and we were definitely not disappointing. The recognition of returning guest is outstanding.

We were extremely pleased to be greeted by the butler we had during our first stay. We had been allocated the same villa and we quickly found out that they had taken notes of our preferences during our first stay. The fridge and mini bar were filled with our favourite beverages and the butler informed us that a top mattress had been added to the bed, since we had mentioned to the manager last time, that we found the bed to be too hard. That is what I call attention to detail.

The butler had memorised our daily routine from our last visit and we immediately felt at home. This place is so peaceful and very beautiful. During our stay the rice fields were totally green which indeed enhance the beauty. The stunning grounds are kept immaculately and are huge considering the number of rooms.

This is THE place to go if you want to relax in peaceful surroundings. Don't come here if you want a hotel with lots of action or a busy pool scene. You rarely see any other guests. This hotel is extremely well run and has some really unique staff. We will definitely return.

The club concept makes it extremely good value for money.

The only bad thing about the place is the bathroom products. The smell of the body lotion is sickening. However, it appears to be a GHM problem as we had the same awful stuff at the Legian hotel.

Will certainly come back

We spent 4 days at the Chedi Club for our honeymoon a few weeks ago. Wow. There are so many places to chose from on Bali and we were looking for luxury but with a local feel. This was perfect! We didn't want to leave!!! The location was perfect. Not far from everything but it felt very secluded which was great. Gorgeous property and friendly people. The best drivers!! Close to Ubud, the Monkey Forest etc.

We had villa #4 which was a spa villa, literally 10 feet from the main (gorgeous) pool so we didn't miss having our own pool. Plus, you can order drinks/food at the pool and then bring you cold hand towels, sunblock and anything else you need. The spa villa has a fantastic outdoor shower/tub/plunge pool/sauna and comes with a 90 minute treatment every day! It was beautiful and really well maintained. You also get complimentary bottled water, soda and snacks. Each villa has its own butler who organizes excursions for you and helps you with anything you need. "Swan" was terrific. He really helped us plan our outings etc.

The food at the Chedi club was fabulous, especially the breakfasts. I fell in love with the "Chedi Fresh" a non-alcoholic drink made with ginger and lemongrass. I'm trying to recreate it at home but it's not the same!

If I didn't have to fly 22 hours to get there, We would definitely go back soon!

Having read the various reviews on this hotel, all I can say is anbody who is failed to be blow away with this hotel needs to see a doctor!

This hotel really sets the standard for which we will judge future hotels by.

We stayed in a Spa Villa and it was superb, it was spotless. The fact that you can get 3 items of clothes laundered free everyday is such a bonus. Nothing was too much trouble for our butler (having not had a butler before it was a little bit hard adjusting to having someone do everything for you). That said our bulter was called Bawau and he was a Saint! Nothing was too much trouble for him.

Anybody looking to visit Ubud (and we strongly suggest any visit to Bali should inculde a few days here), should not hesitate in booking into The Chedi Club. The surroundings are perfect and the service is second to none.

What I would also like to point out is that The Chedi Club provideds free transfers to and from the airport, so don't bother paying extra to your tour operator for this service. The hotel has a car service that will take you into Ubud whenever you want and you either arrange a pick up time or ring them when you want to be picked up.

The free cocktail hour is 6 - 7 and the cocktails are superb and plentyfull....

Aside from the fact that my new husband and I were already on a high on the fourth day of our honeymoon, nothing could have prepared us for the astonishing and magical Chedi Club in Ubud. Our first several days were spent at the 4 Seasons Jimbaran Bay which we were sure that no other hotel could beat…The Chedi excelled in so many ways: magnificent setting with a view of the distant volcano, surrounding rice paddies, and water gardens, personal and genuine service from our own butler and other hotel staff members, exceptional spa services, fabulous food…I could go on for days! In short it is a destination not to be missed for those searching for a small romantic hotel that is off the beaten path and boasts exceptional service, majestic scenery, warm yet simple architecture, and a quiet and relaxing location.
I unfortunately (or fortunately) am not able to comment on value as my husband made all arrangements and payments prior to our arrival but I can say that I will make every effort to return!

This hotel is surrounded by beautiful..beautiful..rice paddies. Breakfast and dining at the restaurant were really a tranquil experience.
It's quiet and really the place to relax, unwind and enjoy the beautiful Balinese culture and landscape.
Our room (suites) was spacious, and we couldn't ask for better room amenities in it.
These suites are designed with a strong Balinese touch that made us feel that we are actually in Bali unlike some other modern 5* hotels.
There are enough distance between one suite to another to allow total privacy.
Service is very personalised and spotless.
Highly recommended and can't wait to come back.

My husband and I kicked off our Bali honeymoon with a stay at the Chedi, and we could not have been more delighted and enchanted by our experience there. From the moment we arrived, travel-weary from more than 24 hours of multiple plains, trains and automobiles (traveling from the U.S.), we felt as if we were in another world of uniquely Balinese elegance, style and comfort. The ambiance of the Chedi is lush luxury — emerald green rice paddies, swanky Balinese architecture, meticulously maintained grounds filled with art, flowers, fountains and tropical birds. Beautiful views wherever you look. I think I ended up taking more pictures on the grounds of the Chedi than any where else we visited in Bali. The entire visit felt like something you would pay through the nose for in any other country and yet we were paying around US $250/night.

The staff treated us like royalty. We were assigned a butler, Swan, who was warm and endlessly helpful, setting us up with dinner reservations in Ubud proper, making sure every last detail was perfect in our Villa, and helping us set up day trips and negotiate driver rates. The Chedi is about a ten minute drive from the center of Ubud, but any time we wanted to go in to town, a hotel driver was instantly provided (for free). I loved the juxtaposition of our quiet paradise at the Chedi with the hectic cacophony of motorbikes, tourists, tour buses, chickens, dogs, monkeys and hawkers that was the Ubud center. My worries about staying further from town turned out to be complety unfounded; Every time we returned from the chaos of Ubud to the warmth and relaxation of the Chedi, it was like stepping into our own private paradise. (The privacy is another thing to note. Even though the resort was always more than half full, every time we walked around we felt as if we had the entire place to ourselves).

My advice to anyone staying at the Chedi is to take some time to enjoy the services the resort offers. I took a yoga class with Marcus, the yoga instructor, in an open-air room that overlooked acres of gently swaying rice, and it was the most unforgettable experience. My husband and I also loved taking a book to the infinity pool where from the moment you sat down a waiter would materialize within moments with a cold towel scented with essential oils and a glass of ice water, or an elegant little plate of deliciousness, if it was mid-afternoon tea. And my man and I can't stop talking about meals in the Chedi dining room. It's an open air pavilion, surrounded on three sides by the rice paddies. The multi-course breakfast (provided free as part of our room rate), looking out over the fields of rice was a highlight of the trip.

After I stayed at a couple other hotels, I realized that many of the details that the Chedi provided were in fact part of Balinese hotel traditions — like hand-placing fresh frangipani and red hibiscus flowers every morning (except at the other places, it was a couple of flowers on the lobby desk, versus the way the Chedi dresses their entire grounds in blooms). And none of the other places we stayed managed to do these things as expertly as the Chedi; they just couldn't compare in terms of service, value for the money, and hospitality. When you travel for a good long journey, as we did (three weeks) you start to notice the little things, the small touches that elevate a hotel from fine to fantastic. The Chedi mastered these details with effortless perfection and I can't wait to go back.

We went with great expectations, and most of the time we were not disappointed. But we left feeling that 'something was missing'. Perhaps it was when we were given the hospitality villa to use while waiting to leave later for our flight. (Our stay had been at the 2 bedroom estate) that we realised what that missing 'thing' could have been. it was the facilities - our pool water feature had not been turned on and we were told it was to save on energy, but they didn't turn it on anyway until we asked for it on the 2nd day. The pool itself was unusable which we ignored because we could use the main pool. But on the 3rd day, the water level sank, after which the pool was cleaned and we realised that the pool had originally been a dirty pool. The area of the pool was also not well maintained. Lizard droppings littered the area. The living room was also almost unusuable in the day because we had to keep the windows closed which meant great humidity even with the airconditioning - we could not keep windows open because of the insects and fortunately we did not anyway because on the last day we spotted a snake on the tree outside the living room. Our bathrooms outside were also a disappointment when compared to the outside bathroom of the hospitality villa. the general area had rather slippery tiles because of the moss that had collected. We also noted the shampoo and conditioner in ceramic jars which had to be carefully handled - not easy when you are in the middle of a shower. On the last day too when we decided to opt for cereal to our disappointment we found that there were only 2 choices! But we got our peace and quiet and lovely views of the rice fields.
