“The mansions resort Ubud”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2014

We stayed at the Mansion in Ubud for 3 nights, the resort is about 4km from town, the hotel provides a shuttle bus every 2 hours. The hotel is much larger than we expected with multiple pools, spa and lots of tropical area. Unfortunately there is a lot of repairs to be done, the room is dated and old. It really needs good renovation. The spa is not working. The path to our room is slippery and needs repair. The decoration in the main hall is very busy and cluttered.

The breakfast is Okey, it has not got a lot of varieties compare to other resorts in Nusa Dua, I think the standard can be improved.

Our room has got cockroaches. It is disgusting !!

Overall, our stay was good, the hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. They are polite, obliging and attentive as most Balinese are.

My daughter and I spent ten wonderful nights here. The hotel and grounds are enchanting with lots of little walkways, fountains, ponds and the almost continuous sounds of running water. The ponds are full of fish, frogs and other wildlife. There are cool marble floors indoors and Balinese art hanging on the walls. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and lots of light. The air conditioning is provided by a wall-mounted unit which is remotely controlled and has a preset maximum so you can't make it cooler. We initially thought it wouldn't be cool enough for us but it turned out to be fine for sleeping.

It is listed as a luxury hotel but some things were a bit shabby. For example, our couch and rugs were stained and could really have used a good cleaning. The drapes looked as though they hadn't been cleaned in a while. Although, the regular room cleaning, such as cleaning floors, washrooms, towels and laundry was excellent. We only encountered one mosquito in our room during our entire stay and didn't have to use our mosquito net. This is way better than what we experience in Canada during the hot, summer months.

The food was just average but everything was fresh and tasty. The breakfast buffet was standard fare: local breakfast dishes, cereals, eggs (done any way you want) sausages, bacon, pancakes, fresh fruit, yoghourt, selection of juices, pastries and breads.

The hotel staff was outstanding. They couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and comfortable and often went way above and beyond to help us out. Our return flight was at 10pm, so they told us that, even though we had checked out, we could still use the hotel transportation and offered us a suite to come back to for a shower before they drove us (free of charge) to the airport. This is fairly typical Balinese hospitality but it is still a delight and enhances a trip immensely.

We got a good deal on this hotel through Hotwire. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We asked for and received a quiet room with two beds - deluxe room in the main hotel.

The hotel is meant to be a health retreat! The food is crap, the hotel is old. There is no fitness centre... A walking machine and some weights! Ubud is the most boring place on earth...a health retreat? No healthy food here?

excelent hotel, quiet, the garden is great and the personel very friendly.
you have a shuttle for bringing in Ubud (which is 4 km away). Choose low season for Ubud and for Bali in general.
Be careful about the shuttle's hours. The last from Ubud is on 9 p.m. After you have to be back by cab (no big problem, is 50k - about 3 euro).

Room Tip: choose a room with jacuzzi outside (like heaven garden).

We stayed at The Mansion recently for 3 nights. I bought the deal online after I read good reviews on Tripadvisor.
From the time we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The resort was the home (and apparently still owned) by someone obviously very wealthy. It's really lovely.
There are 4 or 5 pools and lots of places to sit and read or have a quiet drink around the grounds.
The rooms are good with a large bathroom with a tub and separate shower, a comfy bed and great pillows!
The rooms do lack a verandah of some kind though as it's I bit closterphobic once inside the room.
The resort is a bit out of town, but there's a free shuttle going to the palace every hour or two. The drive to town is just lovely as well.
The resturant serves a great meal. We had a three course meal which was included in our deal. Superb!!!
I really can't fault this place. The staff are just beautiful. Truly kind and gentle Balinese people. I just love them.
Do yourself a favour and give this place a try to experience a wonderful and peaceful part of your holiday

Room Tip: Maybe one with a verandah.

What a great experience! This privately owned hotel offers a very special experience that no 4 star chain could ever hope to emulate. Stunning gardens and extensive grounds encompass multiple pools and relaxation areas, a serene atmosphere supported by smiling staff happy to try and meet any request albeit on a timeline that follows no specific clock. The interpretation of the request can be also challenging and often amusing! The entire "resort" is peppered with a quite amazing and eclectic collection of art and the typical balinese layout encompassing a myriad little paths surrounding thatched rooms and double storey villas makes for a very traditional balinese experience. Rooms can be a little hit or miss, either gorgeous and spacious or nice but smaller; the villas are all just stunning. Fantastic huge balinese baths in every accommodation, comfy beds, cable TV, great breakfast in the restaurant and yummy room service. Amazing variety of frogs croaking from multiple small ponds dotted everywhere. A short 10 minutes from the busy street of central Ubud so perfect location. One improvement could definitely be better use and promotion of the cocktail bar which would round off the hotel nicely. Definitely not for the visitor wanting a homogenised hotel/resort brand but certainly a unique place to stay and I am looking forward to returning.
