“The Mansion is a trip back in time to a”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

The Mansion was like stepping back in time to gracious living. Obviously not a chain hotel, or a franchise, The Mansion is a converted estate with Bentleys in the private garage. The pools, the grounds, the villas and rooms are all Balinese in style and feel. The staff are beautiful smiling hard working Balinese men and women who genuinely want to help you. It is close to Ubud, but tucked away and reasonably quiet for that area. I felt I was coming home each time their driver brought me back. So elegant, charming and refreshing. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that has the Balinese open air shower!

This must be the most unique hotel I have ever stayed in. The hotel is reasonably small - only 90 rooms, but it is just amazing. The foyer was like a museum so many interesting things to looks at.
Accommodation was superb, the room had a big sunken bath, power shower and a curtained bed. My only gripe was the lack of draw space. There is three outdoor pools, two restaurants and another area where you can have afternoon tea! British or Balinese style. I can't praise the staff enough, nothing was too much trouble and they were available 247. The areas for lounging around the pool were comfortable and very fitting to the hotels ambience, I didn't want to leave. W

Room Tip: The animal noises at night take a little bit of getting used to!

the hotel is located in the cultural capital of Bali. it is an ideal location if you want to explore the heart of the island. The hotel is secluded from the hustle bustle of ubud market. Three magnificent and well maintained pools are great assets to this wonderful property. the pools are open till late hours, but do inform the reception about your late evening plans in advance.

we stayed at the Lotus which was close to the spa area. if you plan to book this property you should take a walk around to see exotic plants and architecture. Restaurant was good with adequate indoor and poolside outdoor areas. Room service was prompt.

you can request Hotel management to arrange for tours in and around ubud.

recommended to people who want to take a break from fast life and enjoy peace.

We enjoyed 5 nights at The Mansion Hotel. We were recommended the hotel by 2 other couples that had just visited Ubud recently. It is a short drive from the center of Ubud but so worth it. You are way from the constant traffic and crowds. It is a very peaceful location.

Arrival: we contacted the hotel and arranged a pick up at the airport a few days before arriving. They quoted the price for us because there are no taxis only hired drivers. The driver accepted the amount discussed with the hotel. Upon arrival, the staff was very friendly and professional.

The grounds: beautiful and stunning. We found it to be quite unique and extravagant. We felt that nature was reclaiming the property and really enjoyed walking about exploring every nook. The pools are lovely and there are a few to choose from. We especially liked the "sunset pool" located at the main restaurant. Not really a place for lounging but great to have a few drinks, a snack and then a dip.

The rooms: we highly recommend you discuss with the hotel where you will located before booking because there is a significant room difference throughout the property. Some do not have Wifi, some are noisy etc.. During our visit, we played musical chairs but with rooms rather than chairs. We were very pleased with out first room minus the lack of Wifi connection. However, the aircon did not work properly (which happens). Staff serviced it over 4 times before understanding that it was not working property as we mentioned many times. They finally agreed to move us to another room. It was a large room with poor lighting but at least the aircon worked. The next day they told us that it was fixed and we moved back. Of course, it stopped working again at 10pm...the next day the staff offered to fix the aircon again but we demanded another room for our last 2 nights. We were tired of going back and forth during such a short visit. They gave us another room next to the spa that had a working aircon and even had Wifi connection. It would have been nice to move us since day one and avoid the running about the property. However, the staff was consistently professional, friendly and apologetic. All in all, be specific when booking your room and it will be amazing like the rest of the property and its staff.

Service: very helpful, consistent, and friendly. It was wonderful to feel so welcomed at the resort at all times. They provided booking services many times for us and all were wonderful experiences. We went white water rafting, the elephant park and took a tour around the island to various point of interest that we chose with our driver.

Shuttle: very very convenient and free. Collect a card at the desk with the times and you will be set!

We truly enjoyed staying at the Mansion and highly recommend staying here while visiting Ubud.

Room Tip: be specific to what you want when booking your room

There were 17 participants in the training program which was was for a duration of 3 days. I had booked the rooms and the conference facility with the General Manager of the Hotel, Mr. Elie Gaborit. He was a fantastic person to deal with. The arrangements made by Elie were excellent and the total experience with the property fantastic. The layout of the resort, food, hospitality and the service were all above par. I would definitely go to this property again for such an event. Thank you very much Elie. I have posted my comments rather late but still better late than never.

Room Tip: I and my wife stayed in a deluxe suite right next to the main building. It was an amazing experience...

We enjoyed our 2 nights in The Mansion Hotel in April, 2013. We booked through Agoda and got a nice room for $100/night. Upon arrival the staff was very professional and attentive. We were given hot towels and cold tea while we waited.
Our first room was a complete disappointment as it was next to an outside wall and too noisy to even take a nap. There was no desk for a computer and no light over the sink to shave with. The Wi-Fi does not not work on the far end of the southern rooms, by the gallery.
We called reception to change rooms and were told that they would call us back. After about 20 minutes I started to walk to reception and found a very helpful hotel staffer walking towards us with a new room key.
We were moved into Almond room and our trip took a very positive turn. Nice, larger, quiet, working Wi-Fi and a desk. Our two night stay was great in the new room so choose your location carefully.
We did not utilize the spa so cannot review but did eat in the Indochine restaurant on our first night and cannot recommend it. The food was very overpriced, almost 3 times what you will pay in central Ubud, and not very good. My wife is a chef and found our dinner to be one of the most disappointing of our stay.
The breakfast buffet however was excellent and I would highly recommend it. Wonderful breads, fruits, juices and omelettes made to order.
The staff and grounds are fabulous. We found that the staff who spoke English were very nice and helpful. The free shuttle bus to central Ubud was very convenient. The art and landscaping and pools were lovely.
We arranged an early shuttle to the airport on our final night and the staff even prepared us a breakfast box to go. Unfortunately, we were told that the taxi to DPS airport would be $200,000 IR but the driver charged us $300,000.
Remember, you are staying in the tropics. There will be bugs, frogs, lizards and other things endemic to tropical regions. Be flexible, bring bug spray and enjoy your visit!

Room Tip: Do not stay on South side, Very noisy and poor Wi-Fi reception.

The mansion is a beautiful hotel set in the most gorgeous setting. The food is delicious having had poolside and room service. However, do not accept a room on the south end. There is a farm next to the rooms where the roosters woke us up every morning at 4 AM. The crow from 4-6 non stop. We asked to be moved but they refused. Another guest also asked and was refused. The hotel was about half full during our visit so room availability was not the issue. Also, being so far from the main building, there was no wireless in the room. I asked several times about it and was told, sorry. The shuttle service to town was a great service. Very convenient.

Room Tip: Do not accept a room on the south side.
