Family of 5 stayed at this wonderful treasure in Ubud.

We had the deluxe Manis Casuary room which had a breathtaking view of a rice field from our large balcony and a stream running below us.At night we could see another rice field from our bathroom window and occasionally we would see a firefly light up in the darkness.

We also had the Gelatik room as well which was a/c and had a balcony but not a view like that from the Casuary room.

In the morning we would see a female staff member putting the blessings at each doorway and another staff placing fresh flowers around the area.
We would order breakfast from a menu the morning before and it was delivered with a smile to your balcony. The menu included a fresh juice, fruit with yogurt and honey,a main dish which choices included pancakes, jaffles, eggs with a meat,or some balinese dishes including nasi goreng and also a black rice pudding which sounds weird but tastes great.
There is also a breadbasket and coffee or tea.
When you first get to the villa you get a welcome drink as well as a fruitbasket in your room which included bananas and snakefruit as well as apples and an orange and lychee.
There is also afternoon tea or coffee with cake which you can enjoy at the small lounge or it can be delivered to your room.
The rooms are adequately and comfortably furnished. One thing we were glad we did was request a room with A/C as it made things more comfortable. Some of the rooms do not have a/c.
we were also glad to get a room with a view--it is worth the extra money.
The pool is small but adequate and our kids enjoyed a refreshing swim one afternoon.

The place also has a handy van to take you into town and back until 10pm at night.

The whole atmosphere and wonderful staff was just perfect.Alam Jiwah is a 5 star establishment but much more affordable. It actually deserves 6 stars!
It was by far the best place we stayed on our trip to Bali,Malaysia, and Korea.

Our children especially our 11 year old still talks about how she misses Alam Jiwah!

Alam Jiwa and the entire Alam Group - Alam Indah, Alam Shanti, Alam Gili, Kebun Indah - this is the ONLY place to stay in Bali. Gorgeous rooms with fresh flower petals on your pillows, magnificently decorated with authentic Balinese textiles and furniture, gardens you can not even imagine, impeccable service, excellent food, and fantastic value. The Alam family epitomizes the Bali spirit and makes you feel like family. I have now stayed in all of their hotels and eaten in their restaurants and I can say that if you are going to Bali or Gili Island, there is no other place to stay. I have trouble leaving and dream only of returning again and again, do not miss an opportunity to stay in one of these hotels and book early because everyone wants to return,

We stayed in Alam Jiwa for five days in February and it was a great experience ! Our room - Jetayu was a new room with great veranda and partly open air bathroom ( room rate was 95 USD ). It was surrounded by a beautiful garden full of flowers and sculptures. It was great to have breakfast on the veranda and listen to singing birds. In the evening we used to sit on veranda and read books listening to the frogs. Alam Jiwa is surrounded by rice fields. The village Nyuhkuning is a very peaceful and nice place, streets and houses are very well maintained, decorated with sculptures and flowers. The locals are very welcoming. From Alam Jiwa to Ubud it takes about 15-20 minutes by walk. The road passes through the Monkey Forest. The village has several restaurants of which Laka Leke is probably the most popular. In the evenings in Laka Leke they organize shows of traditional Balinese dance. The hotel can rent a car with a driver for a day which costs $ 60. In this way, we visited a large part of the island and we found that surroundings of Ubud and village Nyuhkuning in particular are one of the most beautiful places on the island. Our few days in Alam Jiwa will remain in our memory forever. Let's hope it will be possible to come back next year!

Great service like breakfast serves on your own balcony.
Our room was Garuda and was unbelievable spacious and recently renovated.
Alam Jiwa is in the tranquil village Nyuhkuning which we liked more than the busy Ubud; Although the dining places in Ubud are very good (Wayans café and Lotus Garden. A small walk through the Monkey forrest brings you in Ubud. Alternatively a complimentary shuttle service is at your service.

The highlight of our Ubud Trip was the Alam Jiwa Hotel. We stayed in the Jatayu Room for 3 nights from the 31st - 3rd of Feb 2011. The newly constructed room is standalone, like a private villa. It has a huge garden, with water features and ponds, frangipani trees. It was absolutely gorgeous. The room has a patio with day beds and a dining table. We had a king-size bed, very comfortable and french windows from wall to wall, looking out to the garden and rice paddies. The bathroom was huge, with bathtub and open-to-sky shower. The hotel had an incredible breakfast menu. They also served afternoon tea/coffee with cake. Yummy!! The hotel has been maintained meticulously. The staff is cordial and friendly. They have a free shuttle service that takes you into Central Ubud. The swimming pool is big enough.
Another thing worth mentioning is the location. The hotel is located in the woodcarvers' village of Nyuhkuning, just a couple of kilometres south of Central Ubud. The village has a very warm feel to it. I recommend taking a walk through the village and checkout the local shops that sell the woodcarvers' creations.
I highly recommend Alam Jiwa.

Escape the crowds at this gorgeous, intimate little hotel an easy 25 minute walk through the Monkey Forest to Ubud (they also offer a free shuttle). We've stayed at places twice the price and the room was better than any of them, plus it had a stunning balcony overlooking the rice paddies. Wonderful service, delicious breakfasts and a gorgeous pool. We just couldn't believe the value! We will definitely be coming back here and recommending it to friends.
