We stayed at Pertiwi during Nyepi (Hindu new year in Bali) and the lock down was totally relaxing and fine. The location was super close to the action on Nyepi eve with the agoh agoh ceremony held just up the road at the soccer field. It was fantastic to be able to experience such a unique Balinese cultural experience and then to be able to walk five minutes and escape the crowds and noise with our child. The breakfasts were memorable, several courses laid on it was honestly hard not to over indulge! The private pool villas were really lovely, though located on the other side of a steep valley. There is a golf buggy available to get you to and from your room still, people with mobility issues should be aware. We took our breakfast at the rear of the resort which overlooked rural Bali and was really serene. The staff there were really excellent and took great care of us. The front of the resort was in direct locality to some of our favorite shops and restaurants like Café Havana. It was a lovely time in Ubud and I would stay at Pertiwi again!

Room Tip: A friend had booked the super delux room... don't bother!! Pay a little more, you'll be happ...

Pertiwi is an excellent choice for realistic folks who don't expect to pay peanuts for 5 stars. Pertiwi is a really GREAT 3 star+ escape - in the CENTRE of Ubud. You enter another world after walk thru the gateway into the gardens and just saviour it all. This is True Bali - with care. Forget demanding Aussieland, Switzerland hotels - just enjoy, otherwise stay at home or pay for 5 stars. We come again and again to Pertiwi because it gives just what we want - true Bali [not a horrible 5 star hotel "all goods imported" here this is everything Bali]. The rooms are very clean and fine - 3 star not 5 [you DO NOT PAY FOR 5 star so ignore the silly whinges you may see here, silly people write those] - clean and more than adequate [at the price]. The Gardens are wonderfully cared for, the 2 Swimming Pools are excellent, and Breakfast has greatly improved over the years to "all that you could wish for" [do ask for your own eggs,or FRESH toast!]. Anything needing help with ask! At Reception
Ms Sri Lestari manages me very well indeed!! So long as you don't want a City style 5 star in the sun then Pertiwi in the Centre of things - next door to CAFE WAYAN - by far the best Restaurant in Ubud - it's my choice. Lovely and....until the next visit. By the way - those needing some extra comfort try out the Padi Field Rooms - Super De Luxe - they are on call with electric car service transporting you silently through the gardens to the newly completed Padi Field wing. But please get real and remember - we are all close to nature here - so don't dream of life in a fancy concrete block sheltered 100% from the real Bali. Recommended xxx+++.

Room Tip: Choose the Padi Field De Luxe if you want an NEW room in NEW WING - otherwise De Luxe. All good val...

The hotel has a very convenient location and at first sight it looked ok. The hotel complex is huge, there are many different types of accommodations - villas with a private pool, delux rooms and ordinary rooms - for any choice. It is in something like a park, a lot of birds and reptiles around, it's very green.
However, after staying there for four days, there were many things which could have been better. One of the swimming pool had a broken tile and my friend almost cut her leg there. The music in one of the restaurants consisted of 5-6 songs like Jalan Jalan, Miong Miong etc :) Not too bad, but if you listen to it all the time, it's horrible. There were frogs and fungi in the spa. And cockroaches in the bath. And for all that, I would say it's somewhat overpriced. I don't think I'll stay there another time.

Had one night in Ubud on a budget - stayed at Pertiwi Resort & Spa on Monkey Forest Street. Right smack in town, very convenient location if you like the shopping street. Plenty of Food and Drinks around the hotel. Booked the hotel through Agoda.com and managed to pay S$107 nett per room. The room was average, sizable for 2 persons.
The Bad – Some minor problems - we had no hot water during the night but it came back on in the morning. Wifi is free BUT limited time access. The access ran out by the time we came back to the hotel in the evening and there were no more access till the following day ! As for amenities, i would suggest bring your own.
The good - hotel surrounding was nicely landscaped and it comes with a decent pool area

My friend and I have been to Bali, and specifically to Ubud, many times. We ALWAYS stay at the Pertiwi. Because we are ladies in our 60's and traveling alone, we appreciate the security and personal relationships we have with the staff there. They treat us like family, know our names, our preferences for meals, shopping, sightseeing, etc. On our last visit, we were able to stay much longer than usual--almost 3 weeks! We never tired of the wonderful greetings, friendly smiles, and impeccable service. EVERYONE of the Pertiwi staff is well trained, from the General Manager to reception, front office, landscaping, housekeeping, food servers, maintenance, etc. Our air conditioner was not working properly one evening and they fixed it--in the dark out on the tile roof! In short, we would never consider staying anywhere else!

Room Tip: We love to stay in room 305 because it has a great view and privacy. However, there are some stairs...

This was our 6th visit to Bali, our 5th stay in Ubud. We have stayed in 4 different hotel in Ubud, all up and down Monkey Forest Road. This place was recommended by our guide/driver Merta. For those who have read other reviews of mine on Bali, know that we have used the same driver for all our visits. So when he recommends a place, we are pretty sure its going to be ok. Well this turned out better than ok, it was fantastic. I said it was HUGE, well the Resort starts on Monkey Forest Road and goes all the way back to Bisma Road. Can't find Bisma, well its the street that Cafe Des Artiste is on. When you first enter the property in the certer there is a beautiful garden area with hotel rooms all along the side. We had a great room which had a balcony that you could see the pool from our balcony. The rooms were large, TV,AC water, coffee pot, refrig, enough room to hang up clothes and shelves for other stuff. The restaurant is at the front of the hotel, where a buffet breakfast is provided. Location of the hotel, in the middle of Monkey Forest Road, right across the street from Cinta's (our favorite restaurant in Ubud) The staff was excellent and they always greeted us when they saw us (Mr. John). It was apparent that the staff knew the names of the people who stayed at the hotel. The price was right, the location, the staff, it was very clean, the pool was beautiful and you had 2 pool towels in your room (didn't have to go look for someone to get a towel for the pool). I said the property was huge, so if you were located in the front of the property (beautiful area) and wanted to go the pool, its was a walk in a half - so what do you do, you call the desk and they send a golf cart with driver after you. If you were located towards the back of the property you could also call for the cart to take you up to the restaurant or just up to the front of the property. There are Villas also available and another restaurant in the back of the property located on Bisma Road. This was by far the best hotel we have stayed in in Ubud. Location, price, staff, rooms, all were great.

Room Tip: If you wanted a room closer to the Monkey Forest Road, you will have a garden area in front of your...

I spent 4 nights here during the Nyepi celebrations, March 2013.

The location is great: Right in the centre of one of the main shopping strips and restaurants. The standard rooms are very standard indeed so once i saw that, i went back to reception and haggled an upgrade to a Villa which is sooooo much nicer, so that's my main tip. Pertiwi is nice if you stay in a Villa. They are a mix of modern and contemporary, good airconditioning. Some parts are worn and a bit old, but i've come to expect that from Bali, i actually like the old charm of Indo !

You get your own pool, a very nice garden and i really felt relaxed and comfortable in these surrounds. The gardens in the resort are magical as it is set in a small rainforest. Gorgeous bridge, waterfall, lots of nice birds, great pools. Getting from the villa's to reception up on the street does involve a 6 minute walk which is quite hilly as the resort dips into a valley and then back up the other side. So you do get fit walking around, you can however summon an on-site golf buggy to get a ride.

The Restaurants served nice food although i preffered the one that was at reception. The other is at the back of the block, not as much selection, smaller kitchen. Food prices was good overall, Villa's have brekky included in the price. I would stay there again but only in the Villa's.

Room Tip: Booking a Villa is the way to go here.
