Just the perfect place for those who wants to discover UBUD and appreciate Balinese culture. Close to the city center (10mins walk) but in a quiet and lovely place owned by charming people. Food, music, massage, swimming-pool ... so many good souvenirs.

We arrived here after 18+ hours travelling. We got a taxi from the airport - its about a 1.5hour drive but worth it! The driver had to ask for directions as its a little hidden!

We had no aircon the first night, which, coming from cold rainy UK was a bit of a shock, but they were able to move us to an a/c room for the rest of the stay. Reading other reviews, all the rooms now have a/c so this shouldn't be a problem now!

The place has only a few rooms and feels really cosy. Mr Mawa's family were all very helpful and Ketut helped us work out what we wanted to do next. The pool was lovely - I loved swimming in the tropical rain! The location is on the other side of Monkey Forest rd, which is a fun walk to get into Ubud. There's a nice restaurant nearby too.

Loved this place! Highly recommended :)

The service and accommodation in MAWA is truly nice. Staff is helpful and friendly. But the location is not in central Ubud area, have to get to the Ubud via a trail beside Monkey forest, which is narrow and dark at night.
no AC but the weather is cool.

I was very blessed to stay at Mawa House for one month. My room was beautiful with a balcony overlooking the stone pool. Breakfast was a delight - everything is cooked and presented with love. Leon, Ketut, Ngurah and all the staff are very kind and nothing was too much bother. I was treated like royalty!

I loved the location which is peaceful but easily accessible to shops and restaurants and of course The Sacred Monkey Forest.

I would love to return to this little bit of paradise.

Room Tip: I loved the view of the pool and into the trees from upstairs.

Can only confirm the high praise already heaped on this great hotel. Room comfortable, tastefully decorated throughout and all the staff superb. Air con has just been installed in all 8 rooms today. Location may put some off as it's not surrounded by all the many shops & warungs in Ubud but it was fine for us. Short enough walk to reach them but enough bars and restaurants to cater if you want to stay local. Recommend Lake Leke Restaurant a few doors away for a visit, nice garden setting, good food and a traditional show most nights. Coffee & Copper at the end of the road by Monkey Forest entrance was good for food or just a relaxing drink with background music.
The staff arranged the hire of a decent motorbike with good helmets and we toured around the area easily. Ubud is nice, but the accommodation made the stay here for me. It was so relaxed and tranquil and I absolutely loved it.
The hotel signage is poor so look out for the wood carving shop owned by the Mawa family next door and opposite is a large restaurant called Chilli ???something..sorry can't remember full name. Nice new restaurant nearby too so not listed yet called Tropical View with great views of the padi fields & good food. Go through the lane next to Coffee Copper(which is the way into town) turn right, its on the same side towards the end of the road up the steps.

I spent a long time trying to decide between Mawa House and another guest house. I am so glad I chose Mawa! I was travelling with my cousin and it was a little more romantic than we needed but, still a wonderful experience. Breakfast is included and they deliver it to a little table outside of your room whenever you wake up. The staff is incredibly hospitable and helpful. When going out at night, they will provide you with a flashlight for the darker parts of the walk.

The location is convenient to going out to dinner and wandering the streets of Ubud. It is right by the Monkey Sanctuary--be careful when walking this part of the trail back to the guest house! Monkeys love water bottles and food and if you have it out they may snatch it from you! If you enjoy walking, you can walk to the rice fields from Mawa. If not, it is a quick cab ride. (We walked! I suggest early in the morning to beat the heat.)

My only warning is that it got really hot in our room during the day. There was a fan in our room which helped with circulation. If you need it to be cold to sleep peacefully, this might not be the place for you.

Overall it was a wonderful experience and we felt at home. If I head back to Ubud in the future, I will look to stay here again.

I found Mawa House on the internet after extensive research- it was one of the only places within budget. It was far more than I was expecting- I couldn't have wished for more!

It is stunning (both rooms and grounds), the staff are extremely polite and helpful (especially the manager), perfectly good location (2 mins from monkey forest and about 10-20mins to walk along the main road) and delicious breakfast (and dinner if you eat in the restaurant).

I would highly recommend Mawa House!
