“Five star accommodation and view”
Reviewed October 6, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed at Harmony Villas in September 2015 in Villa Budi and this has to be one of the best accommodations I've ever stayed in!

View: outstanding. If you want a rice field view (a working rice field) this is the property for you.

Staff: incredible. They go out of their way to make sure you have a lovely time.

Villa: 5-star. Do NOT let the lack of AC scare you away. I am from Canada and you absolutely do NOT need AC at these villas. With the doors open and the breeze (with fans) it is a great temperature. I was sometimes cold at night and put on a sweater. The property design is very impressive. I feel like every attempt was made to keep it luxury, but also somewhat ecofriendly. Kudos to the architect/design team. (P.S. the most reliable wifi I had while in Bali!)

Breakfasts: some of the best breakfasts I had in Bali.

Security: zero concerns. I felt very safe and secure. Loved the dog!

Location: this is the hard one. On one hand, I LOVED that it was outside of busy Ubud. A little retreat, if you will, out of the hustle. On the other hand, you should add a minimum $10 (US dollar) per stay for getting back and forth from Ubud. Often we were spending an extra $20 per day. It is a long way out of town. It is possible to walk into town - we did that three times - but it is about 40 minutes each way and I can't see how it's at all possible to do that walk at night. And often we would be walking all over Ubud and doing other walks so it made a taxi necessary. The walk along the rice fields is pleasant, however, to get to the start of the walking trail staff would drop us off on scooters (again - they go above and beyond). However, we walked all the way home through the village one time and I'll admit to finding the dogs somewhat disconcerting as one was on my heels growling for a good block. One evening we wanted to go into town for dinner but we could not get the local taxi as there was a cremation in the village. It is wonderful that important community events take precedence and we ordered in that evening. But I feel anyone booking this property should be aware that ideally you have your own transportation (if you are staying for longer than a week) or just be ready for the additional $20 per day (I wasn't...and I need to be clear...we are walkers and I honestly thought we would walk every day back and forth....but it is honestly not a realistic option, especially for dinner/evening plans). I wouldn't let this stop you from booking as it's absolutely extraordinary, but just have realistic expectations and be prepared to take many taxi rides.

Management Response
Oct 9, 2015
Wendy thank you for the review. We do appreciate everything you wrote. I do want to add one thing though about our location. It is a haven away from busy crowded Ubud center - it's 2 kilometers to the monkey forest - and for transportation options if you don't want to rely on taxis we do rent scooters at the villa for $5 day and bicycles are available too. Plus car rental is cheap in Bali.
Thanks again for your review and we look forward to welcoming you back to Harmony at any time.

“Peaceful villa with great views”
Reviewed March 19, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Very nice property. The panoramic views of the rice fields and the faint music from nearby temples were charming. Breakfast was delicious. The bugs were reasonably controlled by repellent and nets, but some might find the lack of air conditioning a challenge depending on your climate back home. We stayed in Nusa Dua for a few days before staying here so the transition wasn't so jarring. The pool was a nice way to cool down and we always had it to ourselves when we went.

“Fabulous”

We stayed here for 7 nights as part of our 3 week holiday in Bali. It was just fabulous! We stayed in Villa Sungai, 2 bedroom villa. The villas are beautiful, and the setting is unbelievably stunning. We had our breakfast (made by the staff in your villa, very nice) overlooking the ricefields which was a wonderful experience. The location is perfect. Ubud is really quite busy and returning to the tranquility of Harmony villas just 2km outside of Ubud was a treat. We did lots of outings from here, with climbing the vulcano being our highlight. We found a great driver called Biel. The manager of Harmony villas has his number. The driver was a very nice guy, with good English and a safe driver. Harmony villas was managed by a lovely lady called Camille who could not have been more helpful. This is also very good value (amazing really) and I would fully recommend this place to anyone. We stayed here with our 8 and 10 year old who loved it just as much as we did. A fantastic and unique experience.

“A peaceful, relaxing holiday”

It was our first time in Bali and we chose the Villa Sangai as it looked peaceful - we were not disapoointed!

The villa Sangai was fabulous. It was very clean, comfortable and quiet. This villa is next to the pool, which was ideal for us as we could have the door open and keep an eye on our 9 year old.

Even though there are 5 villas in total, you never feel crowded and we saw almost no one else during our time there.

The outlook to the paddy fields is difficult to beat. The sunrises are amazing!

Camille, the manager is absolutely lovely. She is very knowledgable and if there is something you need to know and she doesn't know, then she will endeavour to find the answer. It was always a pleasure to see her smiling face.

The Balinese staff are just wonderful. Great cooks (Camille can help organise a cookery lesson) who make breakfast in your villa each morning.

There's lots to do or nothing - your choicce.

When we return we will definitely saty at the Villla Sangai again.

Thanks again Camille and staff,

From Sophie.

“Awesome location, excellent property, relaxed atmosphere”

Husband and I stayed 3 nights (wished it was 5 or 6 nights) with our 15 year old soon in a 2 Bedroom Villa. Quiet peaceful location with an amazing setting of rice fields, flora and fauna. Short taxi ride to edge of Ubud shops and restaurants.and an excellent base for activities and attractions in the area. Excellent accommodation with comfortable beds and pleasant furnishings and all we needed to self cater or for the friendly staff to cook us breakfast. Teenage son enjoyed the atmosphere with of course WiFi being a saviour
Best part of our short stay was the genuine friendliness and helpfulness of Tammy and her staff - Ibu Wayang, Wayang, Ibu Eluh and Pulpak - thank you all for a memorable Ubud experience - we will be back in the near future!!!
