We found here at the end of a hot walk, entered the peace of a large garden and took the opportunity to have an iced coffee which was complementary with the entry cost (around $7au). Finding ourselves less than able to expend the energy we wandered around for a fairly short while and then treated ourselves to a long lunch perched high off the ground in one of the on site restaurants.
We weren't satisfied with our performance (not enough looking) so returned first thing the next day to give it our best shot. The grounds were indeed peaceful and this time there was many artisans showing their creations and how they were achieved sitting within the gardens or in small pavilions. Leaving there we entered the world of what is Bali art, both historically and in its development over the last several decades. We found a lot to really impress and much to admire.
If you are in Ubud, please take the time to look, it is well worth the attention, you may be even lucky enough to have a conversation with Mr Agung Rai.
