Nice place but beware of monkey attacks. It happen unexpectedly to me and a lady when we just enjoying the stroll and not even carrying any food nor making attempts to interact with the monkeys.
A group of monkeys were fighting (1 vs a few) when the lone monkey broke off from the fight to try and attack me whilst the other monkeys which were attacking him followed. I picked up a stick from the ground and showed signs of aggression so they backed off. They ran off to continue fighting.
A lady walked by unknowingly and again the same monkey that was fighting the other few broke off from his fight to attack the girl. Surprisingly, the other monkeys joined in. The poor lady suffered bites to her head and many scratches that were bleeding.
I brought her to the first aid center located near the Monkey Forest exit and a health officer attended to her wounds. This incident totally spoilt her Bali trip I'm sure.
At the first aid center we found out that there is on average 1 monkey attack/day. And almost all the victims are females.
Ladies beware. I recommend to carry a stick or umbrella for protection. Just in case.More
