This is a must do activity in Bali, especially if you like to have a laugh. The monkeys are cheeky and will find the bananas you are hiding under your shirt. Plenty of laughs with kids and teenagers. The monkeys will jump on your shoulder if you have a banana. The staff are very helpful at encouraging the monkeys for the photo shot. Recommend you buy bananas to take with you. They are the bait that will attract the monkey's attention. Great value at $2 p/p

This park is full of monkeys and fantastic corners draped in vines with mystical moss covered statues at every turn. Watch out though the monkeys are pretty cute.. and capable of stealing from your bags. One rushed me tore a neat hole in a plastic bag I was carrying and pinched a packet of honey roast peanuts, all in the blink of an eye.

Don't by pass this site thinking you've seen monkeys before. We almost did and I am happy we visited. All they tell you about monkeys aggressively seeking bananas is true BUT, if you use common sense, remove dangly jewelry/large hair accessories and take the posted advice, your experience will not be a bad one. Avoid any issues by not feeding the monkeys and enjoy photographing them instead while they eat someone else's banana. What we truly enjoyed was the beautiful FOREST and the many moss covered sculptures. There is also a temple you can visit in the MF and all just steps away from town.

Visiting Monkey forest was a must for us when visiting Ubud. The monkeys are just hilarious. They are everywhere, you see really a lot of them in all sizes and ages. We spent 2-3 hours in the forest and we enjoyed every minute.

The forest itself is well maintained, staff are always close to you just for case. There are nice walking paths arround the forest.

The monkeys are often really cheaky, so no rings, necklaces, no sunglasses etc. - they will just take it and run away. They even tried to take my 2 kg pack with camera and I saw someone loosing a shoe :-D (no worries - the park staff saved it). But if you are reasonably careful, they don't steal anything and you have a great time with them. For a banana they will even stay at your shoulder and be your best friend for a minute.

So in general - it's really worth the time and (cheap) entrance fee to visit the Monkey forest.

Taking precaution, we did not bring any food with us. The monkeys are not afraid at all of people and will climb on top of you if you just hand them a arm. With this precaution we had a great visit. My daughter loved to close-up with the monkeys.
