I would highly recommend the Alaya. This was our first few nights in Bali and was the most amazing experience. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating to our requests whether it was about their culture , food on the menu or sightseeing. One reason to go back to Bali for me would be so I can have a few nights at the Alaya. Service overall was amazing staff were absolutely beautiful and helpfull. Can't say enough.

We four girls lived in ALAYA Resort Ubud from 2014/01/03 ~ 2014/01/04.
Another days we stay in other hotel. So we know ALAYA are very different with others.
ALAYA have great view, location, SPA and wonderful service, aspecially two both name MR. Agung, they are so kind and handsome!!

I booked and paid for 6 nights - 2 in so far ....pre paid a shuttle pick up with the hotel US $40 dollars or so
On arrival check in laboriously slow my room wasn't ready
( till 4pm) Booked a king bed - room had 2 x singles ( could be rearranged ) my room was on the ground floor next to the pool
On opening the curtains I had zero privacy - rooms are studio style
So unmanageable - if I used the bathroom / shower - or wanted privacy I would have to close the curtains - I felt like a prisoner - asked to move rooms and was told nothing else was available - upgrade or no upgrade -on instance - an upgrade appeared - top floor at additional $50 ++ per night - upstairs rooms are the same layout with the addition of a nice Big stone bath and a balcony with pleasant views -much preferable to downstairs - the rooms are overall adequate . Bed is very comfy rooms appear to have a little luxury in styling - a little lacking- no seating inside - no iPod Dock- thin walls -
I am finding it noisy -
Facilities
had 2 hours of massage @ the Massage center appears well run :staff are skilled .stylish comfortable rooms - quality products
Would recommend
The pol area is tight and the pool small - overall the feeling is of needing more grounds or space it's all such a tight fit
The restaurant is appealing -contemporary design- no critique on the menu ( so far only b/fasts)
breakfast service is slow & erratic -fresh pineapple juice was canned / bottled - returned -fresh arrived- waited half an hour for service only 6 other people at breakfast - eggs arrived 2 minutes after fruit - order coffee 3 times prior to getting it - oh hair on my omelette - can happen anywhere - no apologies -I would have like a second coffee - but gave up waiting-little things like getting my own salt and pepper - I feel a bit nit picky and indulgent -
Wifi erratic ( poor)
My overall review is it's Ok
Would I recommend NO

We were delighted with our 4 day stay at the Alaya. The hotel is in a great location, round the corner from the Monkey Forest and next door to the Yoga Barn, and it's only a short walk to the shops. The hotel is beautifully decorated, and the communal areas (reception and restaurant) are open plan. The bedrooms are very big, air conditioned with super king size beds. The shower and toilet (frosted glass door) are separated by a large curtain - we stayed as a couple so it wasn't a problem, but some might not feel overly comfortable about the lack of privacy. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the pool and rice paddies and had a big balcony with a table, chairs and comfy cushioned sofa-type seating. The staff were extremely attentive and couldn't do more for us - they also popped in to switch on the mosquito plug every evening. The spa is also well worth a visit. Treatments are not cheap by Bali standards, but there's lots to choose from, the treatment rooms are lovely and you're given complementary tea and biscuits at the end. We ate in the restaurant almost every day. The food was superb. Lots of choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And they're more than happy to serve food in the room. Would highly recommend.

We loved our stay at Alaya. The hotel is very conveniently located near the Monkey Forest and all the great shopping and restaurants at Ubud. The staff is very warm and friendly and helped us with all our activities. The room was good the downside is the bathroom is not separate but open which is a problem if travelling with children. The hotel itself has good breakfast and has a set menu. I would only suggest that they add more vegetarian options. The quality of service for a hotel only a year old is remarkable. They were very helpful and concerned when my son was sick. Overall great hotel and would come back another time.

Room Tip: We were given a room at the end as it was quieter. However it was a bit of walk when the kids were ti...

After an average hotel in Seminyak we cancelled our original hotel and booked the Alaya in Ubud. We were not disappointed. The entire experience has been amazing. We loved the decor upon entering and the room was amazing, better than internet photos. The free breakfast is fab! A choice of 3 set menus is a treat. Add to that free afternoon tea of the highest quality! After wandering the markets and galleries we loved returning to the Alaya! Staff are amazing too.

really wanted to love the place, but they made it hard. 1 of 2 rooms was not ready at 16.00 for check in, second room was only available at 17.00. No sorry, no nothing, just - we were fully booked the day before.
After a great dinner at Mozaic Ubud we returned to the room, only to find that noise from the fan from the next room made it impossible to sleep. Called reception at 23.30 for somebody to check and to cut a long story short after 3 people entering the room, all 'checking' and after 40 minutes we were told that they acknowledge the noise but the guest in the next room is already sleeping and they cannot wake them up. At 0.30 we were told to sleep in another room, again no sorry for the situation, no nothing, so we packed up at 0.30 to go sleep in another room.
At check out nobody said a word, again no sorry, no nothing. Not good enough for all this for USD 275 per room per night.
