“Beautiful basic accommodation”
Reviewed August 1, 2013 via mobile

Like others, I arrived at this homestay by accident but I am glad I did. First, I love the location. It is centrally located on Jalan Hanoman, making everything within walking distance. The family who owns and lives there are so sweet. The property is beautiful-- animals everywhere. The rooms are very basic, but the internet was fast, hot water (promptly fixed when I discovered I didnt have hot water) and upon asking, I was brought towels and toilet paper. Basic but lovely breakfast--I was served tea, banana pancake, and fruit salad every morning). I would recommend this homestay to anyone traveling to Ubud.

We arrived in Ubud around 8pm and had no-where to stay. Staff sitting outside Ubud Terrace Hotel said it was full but said there were rooms around the corner at Wayan Family ii Homestay. How lucky we were. As we walked the narrow back lanes and came upon the ornately carved wooden doors we stepped into another world. Exotic birds, a temple, a central stand, a bedroom that looked a palace from the outside, the ladies making their offerings and going about their daily life .... what a treat. Namo was so friendly and a great host.

No soap, no glass, no wardrobe and even no single hanger, very small breakfast, a lot of mosquitoes, shower not working properly. Good wi-fi and location. I was charged 10% more than booked with the agent. Much overpriced comparing with other homestays in that area. Never again.

this homestay is linked to Jankrit Homestay (mentioned in the Lonely Planet), as we arrived there though no rooms were available but the owner recommended his brother/cousin/nephew who lives literally around the corner, a bit behind the house. a lovely walk past some beautifully carved stone entrances. all houses look like temples, so does the entrance and the home of the Wayan Family II. There are 3 rooms in total available, two standard and one up-graded nicer one. We stayed in a double bed standard room, with ventilator and private bathroom. The rooms are large and bright, as the front wall is a sliding glass door. In front of each room are seats and a table where you can enjoy your home-made breakfast, one day it was an omelette, one day it was toast and jam, but everyday it was a fruit salad. Simple but delicious. The owner also helps you arrange boat tickets and other tickets if needed. very nice people. very nice rooms for a very nice price. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: the one more expensive, up-grade room, has a view on the garden/ temple, the two standard rooms have...
