“Lovely piece of private luxury”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the villa. Given it was called a homestay we had expected the villa to be part of the homestay complex but it was about 200 metres away and completely private, fenced with with a lockable gate.

The villa itself is huge. Downstairs has a large lounge room with large day bed, TV, dining table and separate fully equipped kitchen and toilet. This area opens up to overlook the pool area. The bedroom was huge and beautifully furnished - king size bed with views overlooking the rice paddies. Separate dressing room and large bathroom with rainforest shower head and bath. The gardens and pool are lovely and the entire villa completely quiet and private and close by to a spa facility.

The villa is approximately a ten-fifteen minute walk to the palace and main market area. We stayed two nights and enjoyed breakfast with Duana and his family and even saw Duana perform in the fire dance performance nearby. Overall a lovely stay. The day bed is large enough to sleep on and plenty of room for a family (although we were traveling as a couple). Duana is also able to arrange transfers and tours.

Would definitely go back!

Room Tip: The villa is 200m away from the main homestay and is really large, comfortable and secluded.

We stayed here for 2 nights, it was lovely! The family is very helpfull and the rooms are spotless! Good value for your money. Only thing we missed was a washbassin in the bathroom, but further... Perfect! Definately stay here for one or two nights when you're in Ubud. If you have a little more money to spend; the family also has a private villa with own swimming pool which you can rent.

I've been to many places and hotels around the world but this one of my favorite addresses. This beautiful charming hotel is perfectly located in Ubud and the service is awesome. It was a real pleasure to wake up everyday in a beautiful exotic garden, seeing the first rays of the sun shimmering on the familial temple just in front of our room. Special thanks to the hotelkeepers that were extremely kind, helpful and welcoming. A beautiful address that I recommend to every traveler!

We stayed at Duana's 2 nights and we loved it so much than we are coming back after our trip to Flores. The owners are so kind and treat you as if you were part of the family, so kind... Also the place is really beautiful and peaceful, you feel that good that you don't want to leave! Breakfast is delicious and really authentic. And all that for that price...So great value for money. If I would have to say something to be improved is maybe to put a washbasin on the bathroom. But if you are reading this I would tell you just one thing...book it!!!

We are at Duanas as I type and having a wonderful time. The place itself is quite well hidden but seems to be part of a Hindu temple. It's really beautiful and the rooms are ensuite, with good running water, free wifi and aircon. They're nice and clean as well, and the breakfast is good. The lady who owns Duanas is very very sweet and concerned about her guests welfare, she will also get all your laundry done for you at a very cheap price and can recommend some very cheap restaurants (Ubud can be pricey). I highly recommend Duanas.
