My family (2 adults + 2 adult children) and a friend decided to escape the mayhem of Kuta, Legian and Seminyak by heading to the hills of Ubud. There we made our way to Pomegranate cafe, by following the trail for an easy walk through the rice fields, past the small cafés and artists huts.
The cafe is open air, with a canvas roof, and a lovely view of the surrounding rice fields. The menu is cheap and relaxed, think Indonesian food, pizzas, dumplings, cold beer. Very laid back, we decided to have a snooze on the cushions as the afternoon floated by. A perfect day at Ubud. Highly recommended.

It was only a 10 minute walk from my homestay (Nirwa) - never had the need to go into Ubud. Loved the free wifi and the views to watch the sunset. Comfy chairs and tasty food. Thanks

This place is awesome. A 15 minute walk from central Ubud (you can take a motorbike but can't drive as it's off the beaten track). We were so delighted we had made the effort as the walk itself was amazing, through beautiful rice terraces and right out into the open. While it may be harder for some people to walk, we enjoyed the walk as much as the experience when we arrived!
I had reserved some seats and we had two big cushions right on the edge looking out into the fields. I'd definitely recommend reserving these seats as they made the experience all the more wonderful with a 'front row' view of the terraces.
We had drinks and nibbles - flat bread with lots of dips - all delicious.
Watching sunset at this place is just MAGICAL. I will remember it for a long time and we will definitely be back - for us this place had the real wow factor. It was a little on the rustic side but had so much charm!
Definitely bring a torch if you plan to walk back after dark!
