“Setting is everything”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

The walk itself, the rice fields, the scare crows, the overall tranquillity of the setting, is reason enough to come. The food is above average, but not exceptional. Overall, it's a wonderful spot to while away an hour or so.

“Beautiful place”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

We spent an afternoon at Cafe Pomegranate - we took a low table looking out over the rice fields and just read our books, with lots of drinks and snacks! The Japanese dumplings were amazing, as was the pizza. It's a great place to chill out and enjoy the area.

“A delightful place to visit”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

This was a highlight of my Ubud trip. A gorgeous meandering 10-15 minute stroll from the main road (up a steep driveway immediately before the bridge and follow the concrete pathway on the left) on a path through the rice paddies to get there - rice, ducks, people working in the fields, intermittent shops. The cafe itself is circular and has a tent roof with low tables and cushions on the perimeter and larger tables and chairs in the middle. A perfect place to watch the sunset. The menu is varied and interesting. Prices were similar to most tourist oriented cafes in Ubud. We shared dips and a pizza - both very nicely made, flavoursome and very fresh, and refreshing cold fruit juice. We thought the food was above average in the scheme of the generally very good food in Ubud. We had also been to Sari Organik (a bit further along the same path) and whilst we also enjoyed it there, preferred the food and atmosphere at Cafe Pomegranate. For me this place definitely merits a return visit.

“Be Ready for non-Indonesian food”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

If you crave for typical Indonesian cuisine, this place isn't for you, go somewhere else. If you are up for kinda cafe food, this is it for you.

I found lots of Japanese inspired dishes here including miso soup. Interesting to come across kinda JP dishes in the middle of rice terrace. After all, I chose marinated calamari fritter. It comes with soup (miso or chicken) and rice (White or black sticky). Every part of them tastes so good. Black sticky rice is my first try in my life but I really loved the sticky one.

They don't accept credit card, bring enough cash. 10% of tax will be added in the end.

How to get there ? You can check their website, which is super accurate. Just follow the direction, you won't get lost. It is a nice hiking to get there for 15 or 20 minutes. Walk towards White tent. That is their icon :).

When I arrived around 1300 or so, luckily I had a choice of table but right after my arrival, the place was occupied with many tourists quickly. If you want to take the best table in there, choose the best timing or be patient ... I guess.
This is breezy place but it might be hot if you have sunshine directly. There is no AC and fan equipped here but you can have a handy fan :) enjoy the food and impressing scenery.

“A view to remember!”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

We tried Cafe Pomegranate after reading some reviews on Trip advisor and we are very happy we did! It was one of the most memorable experience we had in Ubud. Finding the beginning of the little path that brings you to the restaurant wasn't easy but we eventually did. This little concrete path goes up into the fields and from there starts one of the most beautiful walk we did in Ubud. It's not very long (maybe 15 min) and not too strenuous either and you are rewarded in the end by arriving at the Cafe Pomegranate. The cafe is like a big round tent with tables underneath and a view to die for. The food is very good and varies from Japanese food, pizza cooked in a wood oven to Indonesian classics. We really enjoyed our meal and the local rosé wine. Prices were really good even for the wine so I had another glass :-) Do not go to Ubud without trying this cafe!
