Should have known when the sign said cheapest eats in Ubud that it might be a bit average, I certainly wasn't expecting gourmet.
Whilst yes the food was cheap it was less than average. On arriving my husband used the bathroom and came back looking very worried, in his words it was 'filthy' and after seeing that he decided to try and order something as innocuous as possible from the menu, His choice a cheese sandwich. I decided on a plate of sweet potato fries.
It was early afternoon so there were only two other groups of people in the place, plenty of what seemed to be staff, who were just looking bored and disinterested.
Eventually we managed to attract someones attention and place our orders.
The beer at least was cold, but that's where the positives end. My husbands cheese sandwich was just a bit of processed cheddar on some dry white bread with the crusts cut off, it did at least arrive reasonably quickly (around 10 minutes or so).
eventually my sweet potato fries arrived, after around 45 minutes, and I would have to use the term fries loosely, while they at least seemed to be cooked through they were hardly what we would call fried - fries conjures up an image of crisp and golden, not limp and white.
Anyway the only positive was yes it was cheap, however most things in Bali are cheap and I would rather pay the equivalent of a dollar or two more and get something edible.
Given that there were only three tables of customers at the time and the lack of service I would hate to imagine what its like at dinner time when the pace always seems to be full.
I would definitely not recommend this to anyone ever!
