“Blissful Bali”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2012

I went to Ubud to relax and enjoy the cultural heart of Bali and found even more at the Wake di Ume. Peaceful surroundings, pleasant people, lovely food and a gorgeous room - all in an authentic setting. This truly is a special resort.

Room Tip: My room was perfect, as I could see the rice paddies, pool and spa from my terrace.

My husband and I were married in 2010 (second time around for both of us) and didn't have a chance to experience a proper honeymoon. We booked our trip to Bali through the Flight Centre and chose to stay for 2 nights only at Waka di Ume Resort. Excellent choice but soon found out that we should have booked at least 4 or 5 nights there. We found peace and serenity and gave us a chance to recharge and enjoy the beautiful views from our upgraded room to the "Honeymoon Suite". The staff were absolutely beautiful and went out of their way to accommodate our every whim.

Our room was so beautiful and peaceful. We'll definitely return to Waka di Ume in the future.

Thank you Gusti for your wonderful reception on our arrival. We loved your happy face and contagious smile.

This place is paradise! We stayed with our ten year old daughter for 5 nights in a Terrace Villa with Pool. It was like something out of a magazine. So spacious, so clean, furnished in natural timber, and woven fabric. King size bed in one room which could be closed off or completely opened up to the living room. Queen size in a nook of the living area. The bathroom was bali stone with a huge sunken bath, and then opening out into an outdoor garden shower. Wow! Service was 6 star!! Food was terrific, and no extra charge for room service. Surroundings so tranquil. Views of the rice paddy and rain forest, and the wonderful sound of the frogs at night. A true example of eco tourism. The Spa and Yoga Room and their surrondings are truly breathtaking. Most relaxing and beautiful place we've ever stayed. Second to absolutely none! Saving to go back next year!

Room Tip: Room 102 Terrace Villa with Pool is highly recommended.

Stayed here for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and just loved it. It was our fiffth trip to Bali and our second without children. This was the perfect hotel for peacefulness, calm, rejuvenation and friendliness. The staff were never without a friendly smile and an offer of assistance. Overlooking the ricefields our Lanai room was wonderful, from the size to the soft furnishings and the oversized bath, we loved it all. The Romantic dinner in the private bale was of the highest standard and a real highlight of our stay. I also loved my massages with Puri, who was the loveliest young girl with magic hands. Thankyou Waka for a memorable stay.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night after spending 4 nights at the Puri Sunia Resort. We dropped into the hotel at around 11 am and tried to negotiate a price; there was very little negotiation even though the hotel appeared to be quite quiet.

We eventually got a bit of a deal on a first floor suite room. Our room was on the corner and had two balconies; one overlooking the pool area and the other overlooking a rice field. The location of the hotel is absolutely stunning and very peaceful; the pool is fantastic and not too cold. The jacuzzi didn't smell too great so we didn't spend too long in it.

We had afternoon tea at the hotel which we thought was pretty basis. Our afternoon tea at the Puri Sunia hotel was amazing with a huge selection of teas and delicious cakes whereas the afternoon tea at this hotel was a little basic.

The shuttle service into Ubud was really useful and reliable.

The hotel offered yoga classes, however the cost of a class was just ridiculous!

Overall I thought the rooms were amazing (very clean, large and really beautiful) but the services let the hotel down a little. I think if we hadn't just come from the other hotel we probably have rated this hotel higher.

Having said all of this - I would still highly recommend this hotel for the surroundings and the amazing rooms.

We visited Waka di Ume with a group of 9. We were treated specially from the moment we stepped from our taxi with a cold drink and a frangipani lei. There were several highlights to our stay. A relaxing massage in a room open to the rainforest, a market tour to Ubud food market to see the food that would be selected to use in our cooking class that evening under the guidance of the Restaurant Chef and Arika. The table was set amongst the rice paddys . It was a truly memorable moment. Our group of nine had an unbelievable experience.

This is a very special place and I would truly recommend it to anyone. The staff were always ready with a smile and were available and helpful. The food was delicious. The scenery astounding - rice paddies one way, rainforest the other.

All modern amenities to make your stay comfortable.

Do go there - you won't regret it!

Room Tip: Many rooms have twin double beds, if you want a king size request it. But all are well appointed.

We recently visited this resort again after a long time, and found it to be just as good as we hoped. Even though the resort was full, it was very quiet and peaceful, and the view from the patio is always relaxing. The staff are excellent, and the breakfast is fantastic. Special thanks to Sudiara who remembered us from last time (about 5 yrs ago)! I would recommend the Waka to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday away from the crowds
