Our second visit to Honeymoon Guesthouse, this time leaving the husbands at home.
From the moment you arrive a sense of calm comes over you. The lovely warm welcome, the lush gardens and our rooms 14 and 15 with their private verandah was just perfect for us.
During our 7 night stay we were fortunate to have quite a few groups of like minded women staying, if ever there was a place for adults only, this is it. Offering yoga and cooking courses, sets this place up well for the much travelling womens market. Two noisy kids dominated the pool for a day or two breaking the mood but fortunately didn't stay long.
I can't imagine going to Ubud and not staying at Honeymoon, location, atmosphere, beautiful friendly staff, many who have been there for years and great value, all adds up to a perfect Ubud sanctuary.

Already upon booking the problems started, we wanted to book a 5 night stay. when we received the mail from the staff there was no problem, we woud have to change rooms, that was no problem for us, so we confirm. 3 days later I receive response that only 4 night stay is possible, and the rooms earlier given were occupied so we would have to stay in 2 other rooms. No problem, everybody can make a mistake. Once we arrived we were happy we didn't had to stay 5 nights, both rooms we stayed in were dirty, we even found bills from previous guests, water taps were full of lime, a lot of dust. Beds were very hard and small, we had 4 nights with a little of sleep cause of kids making noise till late in the evening and early in the morning, if it weren't the nextdoor kids there were dogs barking all night long or motorcycles. True that rooms are big and have spacious terrace.
staff wasn't friendly or helpfull.
Pool was also dirty.
Breakfast was ok, not much but served dishes were well prepared, espacially the banana pancakes.
No value money, we found guesthouses who have more aminities (tv,soap,...) and are cheaper.

I have stayed at the Honeymoon Guesthouse on 3 separate occasions and absolutely love it... Perfect location in quiet alleyway but central to ubud shops and restaurants. Lovely rooms, lovely pool setting, gorgeous ornate garden, peaceful atmosphere, excellent food available from the equally great Casa Luna restaurant, great staff and service. Good breakfast. It's just an all round lovely place. Worth a longer stay (5 days +) rather than the quick breeze-through that many travellers give ubud when visiting Bali.

Room Tip: Laxmi a and laxmi b are great spacious poolside rooms with large private verandas

We have stayed in hotels, B & Bs, etc. all over the world. This ranks as one of our very favorite. Our room and bathroom were huge. You order your breakfast the night before--nice selection of Indonesian and Western food (we loved the French toast with palm sugar syrup) and the banana crepes. Our room was on the ground level, right around the corner from the office and breakfast but we felt as if we were in a private garden. It felt like a very authentic Indonesian home. We walked everywhere in Ubud--office staff drew us maps and provided information. The only possible negative was the roosters crowing very early in the morning but since roosters appeared to be everywhere, I can't imagine it would be different elsewhere. The Casa Luna Cooking School was right across the street and was a wonderful experience.

I stayed here with a small group of friends and had an amazing experience. The hotel rooms are very luxurious with gorgeous terraces our room looked on to some stunning rice fields. The staff were so friendly and the hotel is spotless. The breakfasts here are lovely, not only do you have home made yoghurt with lots of fruit but a choice of freshly baked goods made on site. I reccomend the French toast and the homemade coconut pancakes.. I would highly reccomend this hotel. The value for money is superb.

I personally think some of the reviews here are quite harsh.

The honeymoon happens to be one of my favourite places to stay in Bali.

I love the grounds and the pool and the staff are so friendly, welcoming and will remember you.

I must admit it is true that some of the rooms are in need of a little maintenance, but considering the price, I think your stay is fantastic value.

You will get a free shuttle to Casa Luna and Bar Luna (Recommend Bar Luna on a Friday night for some cocktails). Bali Teh and Kopi in your room (I LOVE Bali Kopi, stir in the hot water and leave the grounds to settle for a couple of mins and don't drink the last bit - it takes some practice to drink - but then you will love it).

Breakfast can include - homemade museli and homemade yogurt, eggs any style, pastries from the Honeymoon bakery, pancakes, Pisang Goreng, Nasi Campur, French Toast + more and beautiful fresh juice.

I hope this review helps. :)

Room Tip: The Krishna room is always our favourite, but avoid if you are a light sleeper as its next to the fr...

Sadly our favourite accomodation in Ubud was disappointing. Can only assume a lack of interest from owners due to unsatisfactory service from some staff, rooms that are poorly cleaned, mould in bathrooms, fridges leaking or pver frosted, & rooms showing signs of age, towels and sheets stained.
The Surya room 23 in honeymon 2 had unsteady stairway leading to the 2nd story room and apart from being incredibly noisy the last straw was the rats running inside each night and waking us as they got into cupboards and drawers rummaging for food, and getting into my hubby's medication. We asked for a room change and the experience improved slightly. Roosters crowing night and day, dogs barking, nearby workers starting work before sunrise, loud speaker prayers from 3.30 am in nearby temple no chance to sleep in. Pillows old and hard, overall cleanliness poor. Many staff are friendly and excel on service, others not so helpful. On the positive side this is walking distance to maint street shops, across street from Lilys massage, manicure, facials, pedicures all at $7 AUS fabulous skilled staff & great value.walking distance from great places to eat, an outstanding honest and friendly driver who speaks excellent English. Breakfast lovely and incuded in accomodation costs. Yoga on site in the mornings. A cooking school - need to book. Staff did not know how to make "comfort tea" a night cap staff made for us in previous visits here, this time staff didn't know it was on the menu or how to make it. A small issue but something we looked forward to. We feel we will look elsewhere to stay due to our experience this time. Too few rooms up to standard for the price paid, far too many negatives for us this time. Pot luck on which room you get. Very sad to have such an experience in what we had deemed our favourite home away from home.

Room Tip: Some rooms have AC most just fans. Ask for quiet room if you are holidaying for rest & relaxatio...
