I stayed at Taman Harum on 23 to 26 Oct. As I arrived at night, all I could see were trees and hearing crickets. It was like going into a night safari. When they show me the room which was on the second storey ( there 3 rooms on the same floor) , each doors were uniquely craved and colored. My room ( deluxe ) was spacious and so is the bath room. They even have a clothes rack in the bath room incase you need to dry up some wet laundry and a dressing table. The only thing about the bathroom is that the water from the shower is a little weak and on the whole needs some maintaining. I had a better view of the surrounding in the next morning and i must say i do like the quiet n peaceful surrounding. I have also tried the food ( other than the breakfast which is included) in the hotel restaurant and it was good . Yes , the hotel is outskirts of ubud centre but they provide good and free shuttle service . Arrangement is flexible and I have no problem asking the staff to bring me to and fro. The hotel staffs are indeed friendly and warm
On the whole, my stay at TH has been wonderful .

We were 2 families of teenage children and loved our stay at this very friendly hotel. From the moment we checked in the staff were attentive. They couldn't do enough for us. From the gardeners to the restaurant staff, everyone greeted us with a smile. We stayed in the new Villas, which were very cheap and beautiful. The villas had one king bed with en-suite and upstairs another either double bed or 2 single beds with a smaller en-suite and terrace, as well as a sitting area with TV downstairs. The grounds were beautiful with little seating areas scattered around that allowed our large group to sit and talk. The pool was small but nice. A pool table in the restaurant was a nice touch for our teenage children. As this was the end of our holiday, we left the children at the hotel one night knowing that the wonderful staff were watching over them. Best of all was the free shuttle service on call until 10pm. The Spa offered great massages as well. We would very happily come back here again if only to sleep in the amazingly comfortable beds!

Room Tip: If travelling as a family, try the new Villas

We loved this place and the amazing staff, our only problem was the location. You couldn't just go out for a walk because it's in the middle of nowhere with very dangerous pavements. The free shuttle was great but we like to pop in and out. Also the kitchen in our suite was completely empty, I had to ask if we could please have at least a kettle, some cups and a spoon. They obviously want you to eat in the restaurant but they agreed to supply the basics. The suite is also between the pool and the restaurant kitchen so can be noisy at times and the open air bathroom can be scary at night. Bring your own bathmat and hand towel as they are not supplied. We did have a lovely time here and even got flowers for my birthday. If you don't mind the location it's a great place to stay, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Tour guides I recommend are Nyoman 08124684680 or Wayan 085237947474, both are awesome!

Room Tip: 2 bed villas looked great, spacious, quiet and private

We were in Bali for three days in June and chose Taman Harum after reviewing more than 100 options, and carefully going through 18 short listed resorts / hotels. We chose Taman Harum because it was in Ubud, offered modern accommodation in traditional balinese surroundings and because of the good reviews it had. We wanted something in the "real", "natural" Bali, rather than up market city type accommodations.

And we were wowed right as we entered. The reception is breathtaking. Wood carvings, sculptures, water fountains... We were landing around 1AM, and hotel provided pick up from airport. (On a side note, visa and customs clearance in Bali was the fastest I've ever seen... We were through in under 10 minutes)...

We were two families so booked two rooms. Our rooms were clean, spacious and beds were good. The open bath area was a nice surprise! I guess that's how Balinese bathrooms are! One of the rooms was renovated and had swanky flooring and bath tub. The other room was rather old, with a squeaky cupboard.. But we were ok with that oddity considering other excellent amenities.

Breakfast choices were limited, but we were thoroughly pleased with their service and freshness of fruits and food. We wanted jain food, and they gladly prepared following our instructions correctly.

We weren't in the hotel most of the day.. We'd leave right after breakfast and arrive after dinner. We did use the pool once but didn't try the spa. They have a showroom of wood carvings in the premises. It's great to look at, but we found it expensive.

The paddy field backdrop, refreshing walk through hotel area, quiet sitting areas, welcoming staff and the overall laid back, relaxed Bali experience made our stay truly memorable.

I am sure we will remember this experience for our lives, and I can highly recommend Taman Harum to everyone.

Room Tip: Take the villas if you want something modern - they are recently renovated. A few rooms too are recently renovated. So you may ask for them.

More extensive property than we expected. Beautiful landscaping, pool, outdoor restaurant with waterfall and great stone artwork. We found the room very clean and comfortable though a little outdated in terms of furniture and bathroom but we did not spend a lot of time in the room. You will need to take some light source to read much in the room. They do need more lounges but there are a few tables and very comfortable chairs. No nearby restaurants to walk to but the restaurant at the hotel serves a wide variety, is delicious and very reasonable. Included breakfast very filling and delicious-eggs, meat, pastry or toast, or fried rice or noodle, both with fruit or juice, coffee or tea. The massage done on premises by a woman who they call in was excellent and cost approx $15.

Room Tip: If you have any trouble with stairs, request first floor ahead of time. Also, downstairs rooms have great patios to sit on.
