We stayed here just before the Australian school holidays and it was quiet but in a eerie kind of way.
We have two young kids and found the free shuttle not to be frequent enough. We didn't have phones so it was too hard to arrange the bus once in town with tired kids.
The kids both cut their feet on the cracked tiles in the pool. Such a shame as it ruined the stay there.
We had stayed the previous 5 night in the Novotel Benoa- major hotel chain which was brilliant and inexpensive. I guess anything would be a disappointment after that.
I won't stay here again.

Bali Spirit is a beautiful place to stay. I am staying here for 5 nights at the moment with my partner and our 7 month old daughter, and I have nothing but praise for the staff and the grounds. They are very lovely and accommodating. The pool and swim up bar is great and we have had cocktails and eaten meals a few times there already. The food is really nice, as good as anywhere else in Ubud. There are lots of steps, be warned, but it's set on the side of a hill and you wouldn't get the views otherwise. Bali Spirit is about 10 minutes drive from the town centre but they have a free shuttle and if you want to be dropped off or picked up at a different time as the shuttle times they will do that for you for a very small charge as well (10,000 Rph pp).
Definitely recommend this hotel!!!

we stayed in the tantra suite, which was lovely. spacious, great bed and upstairs lounge, nice bathroom. staff and service was great. Don't forget your insect repellant, as the mozzie's are plentiful in the jungle. cheap restaurant, although there is much better food in town (more expensive but worth it). Swim up bar at the pool was lovely. really nice hotel. and nice place to stay in Ubud which can be busy, so its good that Bali Spirit was a little out of town. more shuttles would be better, but at 10,000 per person for a non scheduled shuttle, its not worth worrying about.

Room Tip: pay the extra for the best room, its worth it

Only stayed two nights but wish it could have been longer. Resort grounds are spectacular and maintained with a great deal of love and pride. Staff truly the most gracious, interested and eager to please that I've ever encountered. Our group leaders had organized a tour guide for us, Mr. Jack Bali, really, that's his name! He took us to a wood carving shop where we could watch the artisans work, we went to a batik shop and could see how the artists make those beautiful fabrics, of course we were invited to purchase anything we wanted. At the end of the day, back to our resort paradise for an amazing dinner and slow stroll through the jungle gardens. Plus, free Wi-Fi in the rooms and everywhere else in the resort. Definitely bring bug spray when you're in Bali and plan on spending some time in the monkey forest.

We stayed for 4 nights. At first, we were thinking of staying two nights and change hotel again for the other two. But since it is very comfortable here, we continue to stay to save the trouble. On 12 MAr was actually the silent day here, where all ppl are supposed to stay in. No transport, no shop open on the day. We were worried that it will be boring staying in, but in fact, we can have wonderful time enjoying the nature environment, the swimming pool and massage service in the resort. If coming with family, I would also return back to this resort. Oh.. Just one thing. If you are afraid of frog, butterfly or small insects.. Emm... They might sometimes visit your room. Oh I specially love the bath room, an open concept bath room where u actually see the sky! Nice! Add point to that !

This hotel is not for everyone. It is set on the side of a ravine, with quite a lot of steps down to rooms arranged in bungalow groups, but the views of the river and surrounds were worth it. A bit like the Tjampuhan Hotel, but smaller in scale. The rooms are nice and clean. But we were a bit disappointed with the 2-storey river villa - it was quite small and cramped. Downstairs bedroom was very small and only divided from the living area by a curtain. Upstairs bedroom was better, but no toilet/bathroom or balcony. Kitchen comprised of a sink and fridge only - no plates or cutlery. Not to worry, the restaurant was excellent with a wide range of great dishes - quite reasonably priced too. No need to eat out. Also, the free shuttle service into Ubud central was great and convenient.
