Komaneka was recommended by my partner's friend after a booking at another villa turned sour and left us in need of a place to stay at the last minute. From the immediate reception until the day we left, the staff were absolutely wonderful, really what exceptional customer service is all about. We were greeted by every one that worked there with friendly, genuine smiles and service was always efficient.

We also loved our suite which had a private patio area facing a paddy field, and I really liked the design and layout of the interior. There was also complimentary fresh fruit and cookies replenished on a daily basis although we never managed to eat even half because there was just so much.

There were reminder letters left on our bed which was a nice personal touch and it was thoughtful of them to provide umbrellas, mosquito spray and a weighing machine.

Breakfast was included on the three days we were there and the local, traditional dishes were delicious. Also ordered soup on one of the nights which wasn't very authentic, but they were very generous with ingredients. There was complimentary tea provided by the pool in the afternoon which included some lovely local delights.

The location was in an ideal spot. Shops and restaurants right on the main street and we were able to spend the whole time just walking around everywhere.

Komaneka really left a great impression on us and my overall impression of Bali. Would definitely go back if I have the chance.

After flying for 17 hours from the Uk we landed in Bali before embarking on a very interesting journey from the airport, if you have been on Bali's roads you will know where i am coming from!

As we entered the driveway we were greeted by a somewhat hidden but nonetheless beautiful reception, we were met by the staff who were very welcoming and friendly. We were sat at the check in desk and given cold flannels and fruit juices while we completed the formalities. The reception staff were all great and even gave us a free upgrade on the room.

On our way to the room it was noticeable how quiet and peaceful the grounds were and when passing every single member of staff they smiled and said hello(alot nicer than the usual growl you get from workers in England)

On entering the room we were amazed at how much nicer they looked than when we were looking online, the bed was huge and complete with a mosquito net, we had the usual mini bar and settee, a really nice bathroom and a great shower!!

We ordered room service that night and it was both reasonably priced and tasted great!!
The following mornings breakfast was equally as good and filling, i think we had about 4/5 courses!!

The pool area was impressive with an infinity pool, bar and great view of a paddy field to the rear.

There are a few nice places to eat within walking distance and also a small supermarket which is good for snacks and drinks.

We were only there for one night so never got to sample to massages etc but im sure they would have been amazing.

The only issue we had was the people upstairs obviously believed that walking around like elephants and dragging whatever they were dragging around was acceptable first thing in the morning, one call to the reception and the noise subsided shortly afterwards.

Overall the Komaneka was clean and comfortable, with great amenities and if we were to ever find ourselves in Ubud again i would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Room Tip: Maybe request a room not on the second floor. Have the chicken sausage with breakfast as opposed...

"Please enjoy" sums up our time at Komaneka...The room was WONDERFUL, the grounds amazing, the spa lovely, the meals very good to excellent, but most of all they have the best, the kindest, the most attentive staff I have ever encountered. Truly a gem!

This is a small development of 20 rooms. We travelled in a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) and checked into a suite room for 2 nights. The staff were very hospitable and made us feel at home. Good location, monkey forest was within a 10 min walk. Breakfast was wonderful. Afternoon tea at the pool and wi-fi within the compound is complimentary. For some reason, there was no one at the pool when we were using it, so it is quite nice and private. The end of the lap pool had limited views of the rice fields. The massage at the hotel is quite expensive, so we had ours outside of the hotel, which was almost 3 or 4 times cheaper. The cookies in the jar were addictive!

This place was truly awesome - the staff were the best I have ever experienced - all so friendly and genuine - honeymoon upgrade to a GORGEOUS suite, lovely infinity pool, very near the forest and the palace to see the dancing and bars for a night out. The breakfast was very good and we ate dinner one night which was very reasonably priced and probably one of the best meals we had in Bali. The massages here were more expensive (£20-ish) than in the surrounding salons (naturally) but were worth it - much more luxurious and professional than the ones you get for £7. Treat yourselves to at least one. Really couldn't fault this place - wish we'd had more than 3 nights.

Room Tip: All have private balcony/veranda and great views

Komaneka was the best of the four hotels we stayed in on Bali and Lombak. The staff is exceptional and the emenities are wonderful. We had a villa with a small private courtyard. Our own infinity pool and room was spacious and very modern. The bathroom was large and very luxurious. This is the place to stay in Ubud.

This place has just the best location. It was right smack in the middle of busy Ubud but somehow this establishment delivered tranquility and made it seem as if you are not in Ubud but somewhere tucked away in the quiet, foresty part of Bali. Overall service was good and I absolutely found the cookies in the room to be very, extremely addictive (please proceed with caution when you start to dip into the cookie jar!!!!) and the local desserts at tea (complimentary) delicious!

Booking Process
- Booked via booking.com.

Pre-departure communication
- Exchanged a few mails with the establishment before my departure and the replies were prompt.

Location
- It took around 1.5 hours from the airport to Ubud.
- Though this boutique hotel was along the main road, it was 'tucked away' from all the hustle and bustle (the hotel had a non-imposing signage along the main road and a nice 'cobbled' lane/ driveway to the hotel). So it really felt as if you were not staying in the center of Ubud. Lovely really!
- Close proximity to everything! Plenty of shops (clothing/ souvenir/ F&B establishments) the moment you step out of the hotel grounds (however you cannot hear the noise once you are safely in your room). Close to the rice field trail and the ridge trail.

Room
- Very clean and welcoming.
- The balcony was spacious and made a fabulous breakfast area (you can opt to have breakfast served in your room)
- Bathroom came with a lovely tub and a separate shower stall (spacious); a separate room for the toilet.
- Free cookies and fruits replenished daily (my waistline definitely expanded during my stay here as I was preoccupied with the cookies everyday...lol)

Dining
- Breakfast was heavenly!!!! Check out the picture...need I say more?
- The free tea time spread was yummy. The offering changes daily so you do not have the eat the same thing everyday.

Activities and Facilities
- Komeneka offers a wide range of activities on-site as well as at their sister establishments. So if you feel that you just want to chill and not explore Ubud for the day, you will have options to keep you busy. Also, the staff conducting the activities were very friendly and patient!
- The pool was a tad bit small but it had a good depth.

Service
- Overall service was very good. It was just a bit impersonal at times (imagine polite but 'stepford'-ish).
