“Booked at Komaneka at Monkey Forest but upgraded to the new Komaneka at Rasa Sayang”
Reviewed August 21, 2011

Recently my wife and I had two weeks holiday on the magical island of Bali in Indonesia. The locals in Bali are wonderful and gentle folk who seem truly pleased to have visitors come to their island paradise.
Every now and then travellers experience a hotel that really delights in delivering top service. The Komaneka Hotels in Ubud in Bali is just such a group. This family owned and operated group of now four hotels was a joy to experience and to remember.
We were picked up in Seminyak by a car from the Komaneka Hotel and taken to Ubud. The driver was smartly dressed and the car immaculate. This was a good beginning. When we arrived at Komaneka at Monkey Forest we were offered a new room at the Komaneka at Rasa Sayan, the brand new hotel in the main street of Ubud. The room was generous in size with a large deck, generously sized bathroom, large bed, air conditioning and flat screen television all pristine in its presentation.
Included in this exceptionally comfortable room were complimentary bottles of water, fresh fruit, cookies in a jar – all replenished daily – together with jandals and dressing gowns to wear to the infinity pool, slippers for inside the room, a fresh nightshirt each evening and a large vase of fragrant tuber rose flowers. In our 30 years of travelling we have never experienced such thoughtfulness and generosity.
The staff at hotel, without exception, was courteous and considerate, nothing was too much trouble. We were not pressured at any time.
The food was excellent, fresh and with a great variety available. Breakfast (included in the tariff) overlooking the verdant jungle was a peaceful and wonderful experience each day.
With the fabulous climate, extensive art work, the galleries, the outstanding craft in the shops, the choices of restaurant and wonderful people in Ubud we have no hesitation recommending the Komaneka Hotels as a tourist destination.

Although it is a wonderful place to stay, in my opinion, it is over promissing, more package than content. The whole resort is beautiful but the suites are lacking character. Probably the villas are another story, I didn't see any of them. The breakfast is good but it tales ages to be served and try to avoid the filter coffee by ordering a capuccino or expresso and pay for it separate. The restaurant in lunch and dinner time is good and the staff is very pleasant. It is worthy to walk around the well kept gardens and having dinner in Ubud is a must do!

This Komaneka at Rasa Sayang is now putting the last details to finish it. This is a "honeymoon" prepared hotel, with all complimentary items you can imagine. Beds are king size, conditioning air, you can take your breakfast at your room (very long breakfast list, but not orange juice), comlimentary cakes, coffee and tea at 3PM o'clock. A nice pool near the forest. Very well located in front of the other Komaneka at Monkey Forest. Massage at your room cause spa is not yet build.

Just stayed at the Komaneka at Monkey Forrest for the third year in a row with friends. Luckily we once again had cottages 398 and 307 which we love. Traditional Balinese with a modern touch. My brother and sister in law stayed for the first time and had 303 which had a lovely verandah and view over a rice paddy. My sister in law commented that as she passed reception, she felt an immediate sense of calm and well being, with which we wholeheartedly agreed and is one of our primary reasons for staying there. The hotel is small and boutique unlike it's bigger sister the Bisma which is stunning, more modern, but a little more isolated. Once again, the service was impeccable and it was impossible to find a fault with the staff or facilities. One minor hitch was wireless speed which hadn't been a problem previously. One of the hotels main attractions is the central location on Monkey Forrest Road right in the centre of Ubud. I love this because you have easy access to a number of fab restaurants and facilities, but can be back in the hotel in minutes. With traffic in Balis steadily becoming a nightmare, this is great selling point. Once inside the hotel while only being 100 meters from Monkey Forrest Road, you feel you could be miles away in peace and tranquility. Things to love - service, quality of linen, flowers on bed and written story about Balanese culture daily, ambience, fantastic staff, location. Downside, wireless speed and as more people become aware, cost has risen substantially in three years. There is a new Komaneka opening in August which we also visited across the road which is beautiful but more modern, although with traditional theme. Again, same quality and fantastic service. If the can put a rope bridge, walkway across to the Bisma, it would be brilliant. We all agreed as did visitors, if we could import the customer service from this hotel group to Australia, we would be very wealthy. Spa is one of the best in Ubud.

we selected the Komaneka from trip advisor and weren't disappointed. From arriving at 2.00am and following the candlelight path to our room to the end of our stay, the experience was a delight.
Close to all the restaurants and markets it was ideally located, yet set in a peaceful and relaxing enviroment.
The staff were a delight, the room immaculately presented.
We heard about a ridge walk and were given a complimentary hotel taxi ride to the start.
Also complimentary and and a hilight were the afternoon snacks, we had an array of taste sensations on those days we were present.

As first time tourists to Bali, we were that pleased with our stay we hope to return ans will definitely rebook at the Komneka. Being somewhat centrally located we were able to travel and see a lot of the country. Prior to leaving we were given the name of a driver (Wayan [...]). He spoke excellent English, was very knowledegable and friendly and helped make our holiday a success.

My husband and I love Ubud and what made our experience at Ubud even more special was our stay at The Komaneka at Monkey Forest. Ubud is a lovely town which is vibrant and cultural yet not overly commercialized and touristy. The resort is located right smack at the town centre and it's so convenient as we can just pop right out to get food (good and cheap!) and do a little shopping and pop right back to the resort when we're tired. Not to mention, there are many good restaurants nearby and the shops are quaint and interesting! Due to the orientation of the resort, despite it being in the center of the town area, it is surprisingly serene and peaceful.

At certain parts of the resort, you can see the padi field and the landscaping of the resort is just lovely. We were upgraded to a villa upon our arrival and were pretty lucky to have one which was facing the padi field. Waking up to the sound of birds chirping and the view of the padi field was pretty awesome. The pool at the villa is a little small. It's basically a plunge pool. During our stay, we did encounter some bugs but that should be expected for most if not all resorts located near nature. I hate insects and the sight of most insects scares me. But I found the "insect situation" at the resort pretty manageable. :) If you're afraid of mosquitos, you'll be glad to know that the resort does provide mosquito nets which adds to the romantic look of the room and the hotel staff usually comes to the room in the evening to burn the mosquito coil. We did encounter certain issues during our stay but the hotel staff were quick to respond and handled the issues very well.

I would consider myself pretty well travelled and I can honestly say that the service at The Komaneka is the best which I have experienced. I felt that the staff were very sincere and happy to be there at the resort. Lovely place, friendly and good natured people, and wonderful food. What more can you ask for right?

Arrived at the Komeneka in the middle of Monkey Forest Rd. Ubud. We were upgraded to a villa.Could not have a more beautifull setting overlooking a small river and rice fields, could not beleive we were in the middle of Ubud. The villa was beautifull with its own small plunge pool and covered outside eating area. Breakfast was served in the villa and was fantastic. The staff were amazing, always knew our names and could not be more helpfull. we were invited to have look at their new resort accross the road nearly opposite, it was stunning as well a little more modern but very nice. Will definately be coming back to the Komeneka, a little bit of heaven

Room Tip: Vilolas are beautifull and very balinese
